QUICK STRATEGIES TO CRACK IBPS PO PRELIMS 2016 EXAMINATION

“Don’t practice until you get it right, practice until you can’t get it wrong”

IBPS PO prelims quick preparation tips

The IBPS PO Prelims 2016 preparations are in the air. We anticipate that the aspirants might be extremely curious about the pattern that will be asked in the examination. We suggest them not to worry as the pattern must not have changed to a remarkable extent. But then, what really matters for setting a record of your performance in the IBPS PO Prelims is “Effective Strategy”. Effective strategy coupled with smart preparation is required to make your performance up to the mark. The IBPS PO Prelims is scheduled on 22nd and 23rd October 2016. No doubt this is the only qualifying phase, the candidates clear neither the sectional cut- off marks nor the overall cut-off marks.

What do you feel might be the reason behind students’ inability to clear the examination? Well, there may be many but the most crucial one is perhaps “Time Management” and another one is “Lack of Effective Preparation”. So, in this article we will give you a few tips which will help you prepare for IBPS PO Prelims via a super smart approach.

IBPS PO Prelims 2016: Pattern

The pattern of IBPS PO Prelims 2016 is as follows:

Section

Number of questions

Marks

English Language

30 Questions

30 Marks

Quantitative Aptitude

35 Questions

30 Marks

Reasoning Ability

35 Questions

35 Marks

Do you know what the most appealing point of IBPS PO Prelims is? It is you can switch to any of the sections you want within the allotted time period. It depends on how you complete all the sections within the 1 hour time.

We suggest you some standard time limit which we feel should be allotted to each section:

Section

Time limit which should be given

English Language

15- 18 mins

Reasoning Ability

18-20 mins

Quantitative Aptitude

20- 22 mins

But, again another major concern is “How much time to be allotted to individual topics?”. Well, we also have a solution for this.

Let us go through the topic- wise time allocation:

English Language:

Topics

Time limit which should be given

Cloze test

3 mins

Sentence Improvement

2 mins

Spotting the errors

20- 22 mins

  • Go for the synonyms and Antonyms questions before going for the passage questions.
  • Para Jumbles- Try to find the first and last sentence. It will be relatively easy. Find rest of the sentences as well and try to attempt at least 2 to 3 questions out of the 5 questions asked from this.

English Language is relatively an easy section and you will be easily completely it within 10 minutes if you are that proficient in it.

Quantitative Aptitude:

Topics

Time limit which should be given

Number Series

3 mins

Simplification

3 mins

Quadratic Equation

4 mins

If you had an effective practice session, you will be able to attempt 15 questions in a time span of 10 minutes. After attempting these questions, go for questions of “Data Interpretation” or Miscellaneous questions.

Find out the most difficult one which you feel in the “Data Interpretation” section and attempt them first in this topic. Please note that this observation comes only and only if you have a sound practice.

In the Miscellaneous section, try to attempt the questions from topics like time and work, averages and ratio and proportion first when you are attempting this topic.

Reasoning Ability:

Topics

Time limit which should be given

Blood Relations Ranking and Direction Sense

4 mins

Seating Arrangement and Puzzle

Try to attempt at last after attempting half of the section

Inequality

4 mins

Coding and Decoding

4 mins

Besides these time management tricks, there are a few more tips which can help you create wonders in the examination:

  • Attempt as many as you can, but not all: Focus more on clearing the cut – off marks with minimum negative marking rather than increasing number of attempted questions.
  • Confidence is the ultimate weapon: It is the factor which is going to make you give the best of your performance. Over confidence is harmful but self-confidence is good.
  • Don’t over analyse: Over Analysis will give you nothing but you will end up with an unexpected and bad performance. So, make sure that you don’t overanalyse.

We hope that this article presents you a smart strategy to attempt IBPS PO Prelims 2016. Stay connected for more updates. Good luck!
