The level starts from RBI at the apex level and moves through various stages. RBI is the authority involved in policy making decisions pertaining to banking and finance of the country. It is the Regional Rural banks that are nodal agencies responsible for transmitting the banking services to the rural areas.

The central bank of India has made sure that the regional rural banks maintain financial inclusion in the country. The purpose of the regional rural banks is to provide banking services in rural areas and make banks more accessible to rural areas. Indian banking system is hierarchal and is divided into various departments and its main goal is to give extended reach of its services to customers across India.
