SSC CGL Tier 1: Five steps for efficient time management

  • Be thorough with the pattern of the examination: You need to make sure that you are well aware enough about the pattern of the examination and assiduous in following it in every aspect. The entire paper consists of 100 questions worth 200 marks. It implies that you have a time of 45 seconds to solve one question. This tells you the importance of managing time in the SSC CGL 2016 Tier 1 examination. The good news is that there is no sectional cut- off but you have to decide time allocation for each section according to your convenience.

  • Time management for General Awareness: This can be tagged as the one of the best scoring areas of SSC CGL 2016 Tier 1 examination. If you are sound enough in this section, it will hardly take you 10 minutes to attempt questions of this section. Try spending not more than half a minute on each question of this section. Do not waste time or attempt questions which you are not sure about. This practice can encourage negative marking which will, in turn, degrade your performance. Attempt only those questions which you are sure about.

  • Time management for General Intelligence and Reasoning: This section comprises of 25 questions of 2 marks each. This section needs utmost attention of the candidate as the questions in this section are tricky. You need to formulate some short but effective tricks to solve these questions which will make you fast and will save your time. You can learn these tricks only when you practice. If you have practiced enough, you will be easily able to attempt at least 15- 20 questions in a time span of 18- 20 minutes with good accuracy. Try spending not more than a minute on each question of this section. If at any point of time you are stuck at any question, move on to the other questions without wasting time on one question.

  • Time management for Quantitative Aptitude: It is the most tricky, difficult yet scoring section of the SSC CGL Tier 1 examination. This section also comprises of 25 questions of 2 marks each. Try not to spend more than 25 minutes in this section and try to attempt this section at the very end. In order to perform well in this section, you need to be largely familiar with the concepts and formulae.

  • Time management for English Comprehension: English is the third most common native language of the world. It acts as a communication window between people from different regions and cultures. This section basically tests the proficiency of the candidate in English. The questions in this section have a fixed pattern and this makes you easy to practice. If you are skilful enough in this section, it will take you hardly 15- 18 minutes to complete it.

SSC CGL Tier 1: Do’s in the examination

  • Go for the easy questions first. This practice will save your time and you would be able to invest this time in solving tough questions
  • Avoid wasting time on lengthy questions and on the questions you are not sure about.
  • Do not forget to mark the correct answers in the answer sheet.
  • It is always a good practice to start with the section you are most comfortable with.
  • Never attempt the questions you are not sure about. It will encourage negative marking which will have adverse effect on your scores
  • Apply short tricks to solve questions. It will intensify your speed and save time.

SSC CGL: Top five strategies to gear up for the Tier 1 examination

In order to plot the flag of success in SSC CGL examination, you need to buckle up and prepare a smart strategy: We offer you seven tips which will definitely make you come out flying:

  • Do start your preparation from the zero level: Start your preparation from the zero level and solve problems of lower level (simple problems) first followed by tougher problems. Do not start from the high level problems at once as you may mess up your concepts. Always remember, in order to perform well in the high level problems you need to have a sound and lucid knowledge about the basic concepts.
  • Prepare a time table with time allotment for each section: Prepare a schedule which will help you get in touch with all the sections on a regular basis. This practice is a little tough to continue but if followed properly, it will bear you some amazing results which you can hardly believe.
  • Follow the best of resources: Resources are those platforms which make you well- equipped with information for any examination. Make sure you follow the best of resources which will enlighten your knowledge and make you evolve as a champion!
  • Solve questions without the help of solutions: Try to solve problems without referring to the solutions. This practice will make you confident when you make approaches for solving problems. You may cross check the final answers but don’t refer to the entire detailed solution while solving a question.
  • Try out different ways of solving a problem: Try solving a problem in different ways. This habit will enhance your speed and make you analyse the method which is the least time consuming among all other methods.

Last but not the least, trust on your efforts and endeavour because “Believe you can and you are halfway there”.

We hope that this article helps you to make the hundred percent of your preparation. Stay tuned with us for more updates. Way to go!
