  • Syllabus The topics generally covered under this section are: Verbal Reasoning, Alphabet test, Mathematical operations, Odd man out, Classification, Blood Relations, Syllogism, Coding-decoding, Causes Effect, Analysis, Sitting Arrangements, Statement and Conclusion, Decision Making, Puzzle, Assertion and Reasoning, Word formation, Series. (Few other changes may be included from time to time.)
  • Safe Attempts 29-34

Strategy for preparation

This section needs thorough preparation but once you get enough practice of it reasoning can prove to be high scoring.

This section will test your analytical and reasoning skills.

  • Reasoning can be comparatively easy and scoring once you have adequate practice. Questions are almost of similar kind to what is asked in the other exams.
  • The level of questions asked is similar to that of the Bank PO papers.
  • Blood relations and word formations are relatively easy and scoring topics. Practice more so that you get goodaccuracy. You can expect questions based on directions e.g. which side she is facing after walking a certain distance and a certain direction. This question is on the easier side. So it’s better if you solve them correctly.
  • For Syllogism, Input-output, standing in the line: It is better if you write down the alphabets and if necessary make a rough sketch of the individuals (for standing in queue questions) and approach to solve these.
  • Circular and Linear arrangements, questions can be really tricky and if you are not thorough with practice these can take up a lot of time.
  • There is negative marking so be cautious while answering reasoning questions.

Recommended Books

  • Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning by R. S. Aggarwal
  • Analytical Reasoning by M. K. Pandey
  • Logical and Analytical Reasoning (English) by A. K. Gupta

2. Quantitative Aptitude – 35 marks

  • Safe Attempts 27-30

Strategy for preparation

  • It is important to practice the quantitative questions in a time bound manner.
  • Do not to spend too much time on a single question. If one sum appears to be too lengthy or too time consuming do not fixate on that. There will be plenty others that you will be able to answer.
  • DI questions are comparatively easy (compared to Bank PO questions). So do not panic. But the questions are usually very lengthy so they take up a lot of your time.Practice, you will be able to improve your speed and accuracy.
  • Questions from Interest (SI and CI), Profit and Loss, Percentage, Time and work, Time and Distance and Speed will be till 10th-12th.

Recommended Books

  • NCERT Books
  • Quantitative Aptitude by R.S. Agarwal
  • Arihant’s Fast Track Objective Arithmetic

  • Difficulty Level- You can expect easy to moderate level of questions.
  • Syllabus –Comprehension, Jumbled sentence, Fill in the blanks, Idioms and Phrases, Synonyms & Antonyms, Spelling check, Spot the error in a sentence, One word substitution.
  • Safe Attempts 18-21

Strategy for preparation

  • Spotting the wrong in a sentence, idioms and phrases, fill in the blanks are comparatively easy and scoring.
  • Comprehension and jumbled sentences can be of comparatively high level.
  • For jumbled sentences try taking 2-3 sentences at a time and arranging. Once you have arranged them it would be easier to put all of them together.
  • Read English newspaper and magazines and especially the editorials. These will improve your command over language.
