Tips to prepare for Reasoning:

One needs to be thorough with the pattern and syllabus. The syllabus for reasoning is simple and allows scoring maximum in this section if prepared well. The questions related to seating and arrangements, syllogisms, visual puzzle, sequencing, etc are quite tricky. Therefore, prepare well in this area. A good preparation can help you score up to 30-35 marks in about 20 Minutes.

Tips for General Awareness:

The best thing about General Awareness is the questions are more like you know the answer to a question or you don’t know. So, there is no wastage of time. If you know, answer the question, simply do not waste time.

Tips for engineering preparation:

This section is dedicated to Engineering, the ones you already have studied. All you need to do is, brush up your Engineering knowledge.

No guess work:

As there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks, please avoid guess work. It will cost you. You should only answer if you are 90% sure about that question.

Time Management section-wise:

Dedicate time to each section. You may be thorough in a couple of sections, try to finish such section quickly so that your time can be utilized for engineering section. Time Management comes into picture even at the time of preparation. Prepare a schedule and stick to it. It is important if you want to crack SSC JE.

Syllabus & Mock Tests:

Prepare a schedule with the syllabus and time slots under which you wish to cover a certain topic. Get appropriate study and reference material, online notes and websites for preparation.

Practice mock test papers, they help in improving accuracy and speed. Practice previous year test papers, online tests etc for an overall improvement. Make sure that you have a strategy to cover general awareness section. Memorize the important formulae, short tricks to solve the tricky questions. Practice tricky questions so that, you don’t panic during the examination if you get tricky questions.

Last but not the least, try to reach the exam center before the reporting time itself so that, you don’t feel stressed out. Paper II is subjective, you need to practice the subjective method of answering too during your preparation. Upon clearing the cut-off marks for paper I & II, you will be called for an interview. Therefore, you must prepare for the interview as well right from the beginning. All these tips will help you succeed. All the best.

SSC JE Mock Test Series - Attempts now

Schedule & Syllabus:

  • For any kind of competitive examination, the aspirant needs to be thorough with the syllabus. Prepare a schedule according to your syllabus. It is very important to stick to your schedule because that is the only way to complete the syllabus according to the exam pattern.
  • A fixed study plan with the topics for the day and some miscellaneous items helps you cover the syllabus and ready for the exam.
  • It is better to get books needed for each section rather than an all-in-one kind. Each author might be expertise in one area so, going by the credibility, each section-one book is better.

Time Management:

Time is an important factor while preparing for SSC JE 2017. Stick to your plan no matter what for a successful attempt.

  • Candidates must adhere to managing time in their schedule. This again depends on the study plan and schedule you prepared.
  • Your study plan must include unknown topics as well familiar topics. This way your time is spread between what you know and what you are unaware of. Such preparation balances and does not pressurize or disinterest you while preparing.

Clarify your doubts:

  • On a daily basis, keep a parking lot, means, place the topics that create confusion or put you in doubt. Clarify them from an expert as and when you get a chance.
  • If searching on a website does not help, every week, set up a group study where you get time to exchange your thoughts and also discuss about what you are not clear.

Mock Tests:

  • Mock tests help you improve 2 things, one is speed and another is well versed with the questions.
  • Self-assessment enables you to improve your ability to clear the sections in stipulated time. Keep sometime to work on mock tests as well. It helps to increase your speed.
  • Practice previous years’ question papers. Try to finish within the duration of 2 Hours. There is a negative marking, so answer only those that you are sure about.
  • Practice tests regularly, this helps to identify the type of questions that are frequently asked. This gives an opportunity to prepare to respond within the stipulated time.

These are the preparation tips followed by the candidates who are dedicated and make a serious attempt. All the best for SSC JE 2017.
