UPSC NDA 1 Notification 2020 Out

The Union Public Service Commission has released an official notification for National Defense Academy (NDA) on January 08, 2020. The candidates who are interested in the recruitment process shall read the UPSC NDA Notification in detail and check their eligibility before they fill the application form.

  • Candidates can directly apply on the official website of UPSC.
  • Candidates shall not fill the UPSC NDA Application Form without reading the instructions and guidelines mentioned in this post.
  • Only unmarried individuals are eligible to apply for this recruitment
  • According to the selection process, candidates shall appear in the Psychological Aptitude Test followed by an Intelligence Test
  • The personal details (Name, Father's Name, etc.) filled by the candidates in the application form must match with those of the original certificates of their Matriculation. In case, anything mismatched is being found, the form will be rejected
  • General candidates are to pay the application form charge of INR 100. Rest, all the other categories are exempted from paying the form fee.

UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria 2020

It is very important for the students to ensure their eligibility before registering for this exam. The officials will reject/cancel the form/exam of the candidate without any notice if they do not satisfy the eligibility conditions. The eligibility is measured in terms of citizenship, age, sex, marital status & physical fitness state of the candidate and their overall qualification.

Age, Sex & Marital Status

  • Only the male candidates who are unmarried can apply for this recruitment
  • The candidates must be born in between January 02, 2001 - January 01, 2004
  • The date of birth filled in the application form must match with that of mentioned in the Matriculation Certificate of the candidates
  • These certificates are only needed to be provided by the students after the release of the result of the written part of the examination

Educational Qualification

  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University
  • The students who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination

Physical Fitness Standards

The students should be physically fit in accordance with the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2020 according to the instructions given in Appendix-IV.

UPSC NDA 2020 Exam Pattern

The candidates planning to take this exam must check the exam pattern for the written examination of Maths, Intelligence Test & General Ability mentioned elaboratively below:

  • The questions would be objective type only
  • The question paper booklets will be provided to the students in both English & Hindi language
  • The candidates are not allowed to use a calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table in order to answer the objective type papers

UPSC NDA General Ability Test

In the general ability test, there will be some subjects that the candidates have to crack. Read the following for the relevant information:

  • English: The English paper is designed to evaluate the student's understanding of English. The syllabus includes different aspects like Grammar and its usage, vocabulary, comprehension, and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English
  • General Knowledge: The General Knowledge Question Paper will widely include the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography, and Current Events. The syllabus of GK is being formed to display the scope of these subjects consisted of this paper. The answers of the students in the paper are anticipated to display their knowledge and intelligent in regard to the subject

UPSC NDA Intelligence & Personality Test

The SSB process includes two stages of the Selection process - stage I and stage II. Only those students who crack the stage I are eligible to write the paper for stage II. The details are:

  • Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception * Description Test (PP&DT). The students will be selected on the basis of the combination of performance in OIR Test and PP&DT
  • Stage II consists of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These exams are taking place over 4 days. The details of these tests are provided on the website joinindianarmy.nic.in

UPSC NDA 2020 Exam Day Instructions 

Any candidate violating the guidelines set by the officials will get their exam canceled right away. The students who are going to appear in the examination must read the following for exam day guidelines:

  • Any illegal or fake documents must not be submitted in the application form
  • Any kind of impersonating found from the end of any candidate will be troublesome for them
  • Candidates trying to manipulate the examiners/invigilators will not be entertained
  • Irrelevant photos found in the application form shall lead the form cancellation
  • Trying to copy the question paper in any means shall not be entertained
  • Candidates shall not write/mark anything on their OMR sheet or question paper
  • Students must not misbehave in the exam hall
