RBI Assistant Prelims 2016: Last Minute Preparation Tips

English Language-

  • This will have grammar questions dominating the paper. Practice topics from grammar (parts of speech, direct and indirect speech, active and passive, etc.).
  • It will also have non- grammar questions. It will include reading comprehension, etc. Practice reading comprehension questions from different sources. Find out the answers from the passage itself instead of reading the whole passage and then answering questions.
  • Focus on topics like Errors, Comprehension, Cloze Test, etc.
  • Enhance your vocabulary by learning new words and newspapers.
  • Try to attempt fill in the blanks and sentence arrangement questions as soon as possible. They are easy, less time consuming and scoring as well.

Quantitative Aptitude-

  • Try to save time from other sections and invest in this section. It is the most time consuming as compared to other questions.
  • The questions will be of a bit higher level as compared to other sections.
  • Don’t get stuck to one question. You will end up wasting time and won’t get enough time to solve other questions.
  • Try to focus on topics like Simplification, Profit & loss, Average, Percentage. Data Interpretation, etc.
  • Make a plan of how many questions you will be able to solve correctly. Don’t answer all the questions which will affect your performance due to negative marking.

Reasoning Ability-

  • This section is trickiest yet scoring. Candidates need to focus on this section.
  • The topics to focus from this section are coding-decoding, Statement & Conclusion, Series, Seating Arrangements, Direction, Blood Relation, Syllogism, etc.
  • Try to practice questions based on previous year papers and sample papers.

  • Focus on time management- Time is an essential tool. Go for efficient time management tips and tricks which will help you solve questions faster in a short span of time.
  • Build your own shortcuts and tricks- Solve questions using shortcuts. This approach will help you improve your accuracy.

Strategy for preparation

  • Topics like Error spotting, gap fillers, idioms and phrases, etc. are easy to solve and scoring enough if solved properly.
  • The difficulty level of ‘Reading Comprehension’ and ’Jumbled Sentences’ are a bit higher level than easy and a bit tough as compared to the easy topics mentioned above.
  • For jumbled sentences, try to assemble and arrange two sentences at first. Then, you will easily catch the flow and will easily be able to arrange the rest.
  • Go through English newspapers and articles. It will improve your written as well as spoken English skills.
  • Try to learn new words from dictionary and note down. Find out the meanings and use them on a daily basis.

MS Excel, Computer Organization, Generations of computer, Basic of Computers, Input & Output Device, Shortcuts & Basic knowledge MS word, MS power point, Memory Orientation, Concepts of Internet, LAN, WAN, Modem, Computer Abbreviations, Modern day Technology, Computer Abbreviations, etc.

Strategy for preparation

  • Go through basic fundamentals of MS Office and Internet concepts. This section will consist of easy questions.
