Educational Qualification

In order to apply for IBPS Clerk 2017 candidate to have a degree from a government recognized college or university or the equivalent alternative of a degree considered. There is no particular field specified, a candidate from any study background is allowed. The basic criteria is only having the degree. Also, the candidate should have knowledge of computer and the local language.

Age Limit

The minimum age of a candidate should be 20 years and the maximum age to apply is 28 years.

i.e. A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.09.1989 and not later than 01.09.1997 (both dates inclusive)

In case two or more candidates have obtained the same score, IBPS will decide the merit order as per date of birth (the candidate senior in age is placed before/ above the candidate junior in age), as per the prevailing practice. The weightage of main exam and interview will be 80:20 respectively.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has conducted IBPS Clerk Mains exam on 31st and 1st January 2017. IBPS Clerk Mains Result 2016 will be declared soon. The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of sectional and overall cut off marks.


 

According to IBPS, no interviews will be conducted for IBPS Clerks 2016 recruitment and candidates will be selected on the basis of their score secured in mains exam.There are total 19,243 vacancies in the participating banks.As per the notification, 100% weightage will be given to the score obtained by candidates in the online main examination while preparing the IBPS clerk merit list for allotment. Candidates who will score higher marks in mains exam will be placed at higher ranks in IBPS Clerk merit list and amongst those having high ranks will be selected for allotment of banks as per their preference and merit.

How to calculate IBPS Clerk Cut off 2016 :

Scores:

  • The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions will be normalized using equi-percentile method
  • Scores up to 2 decimal points shall be taken for the purpose of calculations

IBPS Clerk Mains Cut off Score 2016 = Total Weighted Score= Marks obtained in (Reasoning ability + English language + General awareness + Quantitative aptitude + Computer Knowledge)

Cut off Score:

  • Mean – 3/4th of Standard Deviation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/EXS categories

  1. Try to solve less time consuming topics first such as - Coding & Decoding , Ranking,Direction, Blood Relation and Data suffifiecny.
  2. Do more practice for topics such as seating arrangement and puzzles. Try to identify the different types of questions asked from such topics. For example – seating arrangement may be linear or circular and people may be facing the centre, away from the centre or a combination of both.

1. Grammar

Focus on topics you are weak in, grasp and learn the fundamentals of grammar and apply the rules learnt to various Grammar practice exercises.

Revising the basics will help you with frequently asked questions in IBPS English section on

  • Spotting the error
  • Sentence Correction/ Phrase replacement

2. Vocabulary

Improve your vocabulary from various textbooks, newspapers and magazines.Keep a dictionary(oxford dictionary recommended) for learning new words. Listen to english news channels, Watch some english movies and take part in debates.

3. Reading:

Read newspapers daily. Try to form a summary of each news article in your own words. Also, read novels. Gradually improve the reading speed.

The english section can be very scoring for you if you study strategically . Read the topic wise preparation tips to score well.

Reading Comprehension

Develop a regular reading habit to help solve reading comprehension questions. Practice at least 1 passage from previous year’s IBPS Clerk papers. This will give you an idea about the difficulty level of the exam. You can then practice similar difficulty level Reading Comprehensions from preparation books.

There are mainly 4 types of questions asked from Reading Comprehension –

  • Questions on the information given in the passage
  • Antonyms/synonyms of words used in the Reading Comprehension.
  • Summary of a the paragraph
  • A relevant title for the passage

Solve the passages and fix up a specific time for each of the passages.

Fill in the Blanks/ Cloze Test

Questions on fill in the blanks and cloze test do not require good English vocabulary. The blanks need to be filled with simple words which are easy to choose if you understand the theme of the paragraph. So, It is important to grasp whatever you are reading.

Para jumbles

In Parajumbles section, you need to correct the order of the given sentences. You need a lot of practice for this section.

Solve previous year papers and take mock tests.

Attempt previous year's paper which will help you to understand the type of questions asked in the exam and level of difficulty.

Take Mock tests for English section. Try to attempt 3 to 5 IBPS Clerk mock test series on a daily basis which are available online. This will suggest you better ways to improve your weak areas and explore scoring opportunity.

Time Management Strategy for English Section:

1.Attempt relatively easier questions like cloze test, fill in the blanks, antonym & synonym first.

2.Before attempting the reading comprehension,  read the questions quickly so that you can spot the answers while you read the passage.

3. Try to avoid negative marking.

4. Keep some time for final review of your answers.
