IBPS Clerk Reasoning Section Pattern:

The reasoning section will consist of 40 questions which will carry a maximum of 50 marks. There will be a sectional time limit of 30 minutes(half an hour) duration. Also, it is necessary to keep in mind that 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Useful Preparation Tips for Reasoning (Logical) Ability Section:

  1. Try to solve less time consuming topics first such as - Coding & Decoding , Ranking,Direction, Blood Relation and Data suffifiecny.
  2. Do more practice for topics such as seating arrangement and puzzles. Try to identify the different types of questions asked from such topics. For example – seating arrangement may be linear or circular and people may be facing the centre, away from the centre or a combination of both.
  3. In the problems based on coding-decoding, identify the pattern of aplphabetical orders and numerical sequence.
  4. Solve Statement based questions which can be of following types:

  • Statement- Assumptions
  • Statement-Conclusion
  • Statement- Arguments
  • Statement- Courses of Action

In such questions, we need to make assumptions based on certain rules. It needs a lot of practice which will help you in marking accurate judgement.

  1. Keep an eye on the sectional time limit. Attempt questions which you are sure of to avoid negative marking.

Solve Previous Years’ questions papers

Previous years’ papers are available online for practice. Solve last 5 year’s paper to improve your speed , accuracy and confidence level.

Solve Mock tests and Sample papers

Take  at least 5 mock tests for IBPS Clerk Mains daily. You will get model papers and sample papers as per the latest pattern . Practice sectional test series focused on reasoning section.

How to Manage Time for Reasoning section:

The time limit for the reasoning section is 30 minutes. Hence take 15-20 minutes for the time consuming questions. The less time consuming questions can be attempted in 5 minutes. Keep aside last 5 minutes for reviewing your answers. Practice this when you attempt free mock test series in order to get a flow.
