SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Analysis, Expected Cutoff: 27 August 2016

SSC has conducted its CGL 2016 Tier I Exam today. Finally this most awaited SSC Exam’s first phase comes to an end. The next thing that candidates have in their mind after writing SSC CGL Tier I Exam 2016 is cut off mark sheet and result. It is mandatory for the aspiring candidates to qualify in the SSC CGL Tier I Exam in order to go to the next Phase which is SSC CGL Tier II.

SSC CGL Tier I 2016 Examination/test Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-I Examination is an offline entrance examination or Phase –I in SSC CGL examination. In short, If you qualify in SSC CGL Tier-I examination, then you shall be called for the SSC CGL Tier-II Examination and so on.  

SSC Tier-I test that held today was based on the below mentioned pattern. The SSC CGL Tier I exam 2016 was a 1 hours 15 minute objective type written paper. This exam was having 4 major sections, having 25 questions each. Candidates were supposed to attempt maximum questions correctly within this time period.

Important things that you must know about SSC CGL Tier-I (held today) and Tier-II (upcoming) Examination

  • Exam Type: Both are multiple choice objective type exams. 
  • Marking Scheme in both the examinations: There is one mark for each right answer.
  • Negative Marking: Yes, there is negative marking in SSC CGL Examinations.
  • In SSC CGL Tier-I exam, there is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
  • In SSC CGL Tier-II exam, 0.50 marks deduction for every wrong answer in Quantitative Aptitude section and 0.25 marks deduction for every wrong answer in English section.

So, before you analyze your total score, you must always remember that every incorrect answer takes away 0.25 marks from your entire score.

How was SSC CGL Tier-I Exam?

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam was overall a moderate fight. Around 80-90% of the students who attempted SSC CGL Tier-I exam today found it average to moderate level examination.

However, English Comprehension section was little hard this time as compared to the previous year examinations.

There were vocabulary based questions this time.

There were questions from the topics such as,

  • Synonyms- One question
  • Antonym- One question
  • Spelling- One question
  • One Normal Passage normal and questions abased on it.

Candidates found this section not that easy if we compare with the previous year question paper.

SSC CGL Tier I Quantitative Aptitude Analysis:

This section had questions from topics such as,

Arithmetic,

Geometry,

Trigonometry,

Fractions

The questions were not tricky rather were straight forward.

The questions from Arithmetic part were easy.

Questions based on topics such as Geometry and Trigonometry was of Moderate Level. Candidates found Quantitative Aptitude section moderate and not much difficult.

If you have attempted 18-20 questions correctly then there are higher chances that you will qualify in this section easily.

SSC CGL Tier I General Intelligence and Reasoning Analysis:

The questions in this section were of easy level. It has been estimated that more than more than 60% questions were easy.

There were 5 straight questions from the topic Bar Chart.

The major focus of candidates while attempting SSC CGL Tier I General Intelligence and Reasoning section was to solve maximum questions correctly within the allotted time period.

The questions were from various topics such as:

Analogy,

Visual Reasoning,

Bar chart

Some candidates/students have reported that one of the questions from Bar chart was wrongly stated.

SSC CGL Tier I General Awareness Analysis:

There were very few questions from the current affairs and those who read previous year question papers got lucky this time. This time, questions in SSC CGL Tier I General Awareness were repeated from previous year question papers.

The level of difficulty of SSC CGL Tier I General Awareness was moderate. More preference wwas given on Static General Knowledge.
