IBPS SO Previous Year Question Paper Analysis and Cut off

IBPS SO Previous year Cut off and Analysis

IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) conducts an exam annually to fill up the positions for various class rank officers. IBPS is generally a five section exam consisting of English, Reasoning and computer awareness, General Knowledge (Banking Domain), Quantitative Aptitude, Descriptive Test. Each section comprises of  different marks weightage and number of questions. Time limit is two hours where in there is no proper schema as to which section will be first and which to expect last. IBPS is an online computer based test which happens across India in most of the states.

IBPS SO (Marketing Officer) Test Series

IBPS SO (IT Officer) Test Series

Analysis

To get an upper hand in the exam it is very important to be one step in front. Pattern is something that we can relate to and rely upon. This analysis will give you end-to-end answers on all your doubts and queries.

Previous year IBPS exam appeared to be on a little difficult side. If we see the overall output if the test it was on moderate-difficult scale. Moving to section wise peek we have:

English Language considerately difficult section made of sentence fillers accompanied by reading comprehensions “The RC’s”. The headers of RC were: Infrastructure Investment, Informal Economy to formal Economy, in 2015 the questions in this section were less difficult to handle. Breakage was 5 sentence fillers, 15 RC questions which will only be answerable if RC is read fully and properly, 5 para jumble, relief was furnished by error correction questions which were easy and 5 in number, words replacement 5 easy and 5 towards random questions totally 40 questions.

Quantitative Aptitude which was on a heavier part complex three sets of Data interpretation questions: Pie chart, Line chart, Cassette with missing Data interpretation. Apart from DI we had five questions allocated to Series which were a little relief as compared to DI as the level was moderate, five of those towards inequalities again on a difficult side, five in favour of approximation, moderate to difficult level and the rest were an amalgamation of SI, Speed, Averages, Ratio etc. All of these moderate to difficult totalling to 50 down.

More emphasis was given to DI questions as they test the overall understanding of calculations, logic and readability of data in different forms.

Reasoning included 10 puzzles, 5 syllogism, 10 seating arrangements, 5 coding-decoding, 10 logical, 5 data sufficiency and 5 miscellaneous questions which were difficult in nature. Totalling to 50 questions.

Computer and General Awareness were alike in terms of the level of difficulty most of them were easy and related to banking as earlier mentioned and computer awareness questions came from generations of computer and history of computer domain.

According to the facts we can establish more emphasis was given on Reasoning, RCs and DI in the 2016 year question paper and Computer plus general awareness sections were low key while making QA section the most scoring and time saver one. Prepare a good strategy for this year while keeping this outcome in mind.

Minimum Eligibility scores for different category

IBPS cut off for 2016 was announced in two forms one is section wise while other being overall cut off.  Here is the simple table of sectional cut off and overall cut off for your better understanding of IBPS Exam.

Sectional Cut-off

1 Quantitative Aptitude 50 10.75 12.50
2 General Awareness 40 8.00 10.75
3 Computer Awareness 20 5.00 6.50
4 Reasoning 50 3.25 5.25
5 English 40 2.25 4.75

Overall Cut-off

Category Eligibility Marks out of 200
General 52.50
OBC 52.50
SC 41.75
ST 31.50
OC 34.00

IBPS SO (Marketing Officer) Test Series

IBPS SO (IT Officer) Test Series

  • Relaxed mind gives better acknowledgment to what is presented in front of you .So make sure to relax, complete your sleep, and have proper diet to ensure a comfortable body and good environment for the mind to function free.
  • Brush up all the formulae in Data interpretation and make sure the Mathematics is on your side during the test.
  • English test can be deceptive at times hence at the last minute make sure the grammar is in place. A quick view at current affairs and articles published will make it more viable as it will be engaging and it will help in the GK portion as well.
  • One good tip is always not to be over confident and on the same lines not to belittle yourself. Faith can move mountains when shielded with hardship.
  • Time management is a must the clock always ticking hence be adaptive because on the screen there is a small portion where you find it running, it might be out of place for most of us.
  • Concentration should be optimum the reason behind is we might jump to some other question in the midway before completing the one at hand. Jeopardising both the questions hence focus one at hand first.
  • Keep the accuracy in check as it the key to score to be in the list. If done 100 questions and out of those 90 are wrong will lead to dissatisfaction and frustration. Set your accuracy and keep a tab.
  • Practice as much as possible to make yourself immune to the test shiver while on the real one. Freely available on many websites choose the tricky ones. More you sweat on practice the better you perform in exam.
  • Mind map the test by being a strategy savvy person who knows what to do, when to do and what to not waste much time on. These test are designed in a way to get the results in pressure hence a very well planned plot can come in handy.
  • Reach the exam centre sounds quite obvious, yes it does however get up early make sure you visit the centre prior so that you are acquainted.

These are most essential tips for all IBPS SO aspirants of 2017.Hope you are clear with it and we advise you to strictly practice free IBPS Mock tests online which helped many of the aspirants of past years to come out with flying colours
