Hello people,

Hope you are doing great! Finally the wait for IBPS PO Mains exam is over and it is now time for Aspirants to apply their learning and come closer to their dream job. IBPS PO Mains targets to recruit 8822 vacancies in PO/ MT cadre in around 20 public banks. The IBPS PO Mains examination is scheduled to be conducted on 20th of November 2016. The examination will be held in two slots i.e. 1st slot will be from 8:00 AM onwards and 2nd slot will be from 12:30 AM onwards.

Overall analysis of IBPS PO Mains 2016 of Slot 1 - 20th November 2016

The overall level of the examination was of  Moderate to Difficult level. The overall good attempts required to clear the cut- off marks is 105 -135. It seemed that today IBPS followed the pattern of SBI Mains.

(A) English Language Section:

Good attempts to clear cut off marks: If you attempt 17 - 20 questions, you will easily be able to clear the cut off marks.

Difficulty Level: The questions asked from this section were of Moderate to Difficult level.

Analysis:

  • Reading Comprehension – 15 Questions in 2 sets ( Economy, Informal vs. Formal Economy)
  • Phrase Starter based questions – 5 Questions
  • Para Completion – 5 Questions (A short paragraph along with 5 statements in the options. The most appropriate sentence need to be selected)
  • Synonyms and Antonyms Questions – 5 Questions
  • Sentence Improvement – 5 Questions 
  • Correct sentence identification – 5 Questions

(B) Quantitative Aptitude Section:

Good attempts to clear cut off marks: If you attempt 18 -21 questions, you will easily be able to clear the cut off marks.

Difficulty Level: The questions asked from this section were of  Difficult level.

Analysis:

  • Data Interpretation – 20 Questions in 4 sets
    (a) Paragraph DI was based on Production & Consumption of 3 different cereals in different years
    (b) Missing DI was based on Investment and Profit.
    (c) Pie Chart DI was based on 2 product brands A, B sold on different shops.
    (d) Line Graph DI was based on number of visitors in 2 different theatres in different months
  • Number Series – 5 Questions - Indentify wrong number from the given set.

(C) Reasoning Ability Section:

Good attempts to clear cut off marks: If you attempt 17 - 20 questions, you will easily be able to clear the cut off marks.

Difficulty Level: The questions asked from this section were of  Moderate to Difficult  level.

Analysis:

  • Syllogism – 5 Questions (Tricky)
  • Seating Arrangement/ Puzzles – 20 questions in 4 sets
    (a) Based on meeting of 8 different people in 4 different months on 2 days – 13th and 22nd. Different cases were given for this.
    (b) Based on 9 people who belonged to 3 different departments – HR, IT and Marketing with positions of Manager and Senior Manager in each. The questions was tricky.
    (c) One Puzzle was row based.
    (d) Floor based puzzle – 10 people living on 4 different floors with 3 flats on each floor. 2 were unoccupied.
  • Logical Reasoning- 10 Questions (Based on Statement assumption, selection procedure based)
  • Coding Decoding –  5 Questions (coding if sentences)
  • Miscellaneous – 10 Questions (Time and Distance questions, Direction sense questions) 

(D) General Awareness Section:

Good attempts to clear cut off marks: If you attempt 21 - 24 questions, you will easily be able to clear the cut off marks.

Difficulty Level: The questions asked from this section were of Easy level.

Questions asked :

  • Name of City and Country where NATO Summit 2017 took place?
  • Which Bank is not regulated by RBI?
  • Typhoon HAIMA recently came in which country?
  • Nobel Price in Economy awarded for work in which area?
  • What does E stand for in EFTPOS? Electronic (Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale)

(E) Computer Knowledge Section:

Good attempts to clear cut off marks: If you attempt 13 - 17 questions, you will easily be able to clear the cut off marks.

Difficulty Level: The questions asked from this section were of Easy level.

  • 1 Nibble = 4 bits
  • Re-name Functions in MS Word ?
  • Name of IBM supercomputer ? Ans - WATSON
  • IC in which generation ? Ans – 3rd generation
  • Which of the following is not an mobile OS?Ans  – Safari
