The Probationary Officer examination is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) annually. This is one of the most sought-after examinations because it sees the maximum number of candidates’ participation. It is estimated that every year over 40 lakh candidates appear for IBPS PO exam.

The IBPS PO exam is known for being complex and highly competitive. The selection procedure for IBPS PO is done in four levels, which are explained below.

Levels of the IBPS PO Selection Procedure 2016-

In general, IBPS PO selection procedure, depending upon the exam conducting authority, can be of 4-5 different levels. These levels are-

Level 1 : Preliminary Examination

Level 2 : Main Examination

Level 3 : Interview and Document Verification

Level 4 : Personnel allotment

IBPS PO Selection Procedure 2016 for Level 3: Interview and Document Verification

The candidates should bring along the following documents for cross verification-

  • Birth certificate (birth certificate, class X certificate with date of birth)
  • All Graduation Mark sheets and certificate as education proof
  • Experience certificate (if any)
  • Photo identity proof of the candidate
  • Printed copy of the valid interview call letter/admit card
  • Hard copy of the application form
  • Category certificate, if applicable
  • Caste certificate issues by the competent authority (reserved category consisting SC, ST, and OBC)
  • Medical certificate in prescribed format (for the physically handicapped students)

After document verification, the candidates are sent for interview round. Here, the candidates face a panel of judges who interview the candidate on the specific or generic questions. The candidates are judged on following basis-

  • Personality
  • Body language
  • Communication skills
  • Academics
  • General social behaviour

The Judge Panel consists of representatives from different banks.

After all this, allotment is done for the candidates according to the final merit list.
