Question: What is SSC CGL Exam?

The Staff Selection Commission conducts the Combined Graduate Level examination every year for recruitment in various central government Gazetted and non-Gazetted posts like Assistant, Auditor, Compiler, Inspector, etc.

Question: What is the pattern of examinations conducted by the SSC?

Recruitment through the Combined Level Graduate Examination will be a three tier process. The movement to each consecutive level is dependent on the previous level’s performance. The three tiers of this examination are as follows:

• Tier 1 exam: Preliminary Examination (objective MCQ pattern)
• Tier 2 exam: Main Examination (objective MCQ pattern)
• Tier 3 exam: Interview/ Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test/ Document Verification

The candidates who clear the minimum cut-off of tier 1 and tier 2 examinations are eligible for tier 3 examination. The final allotment of posts takes place on the basis of the All India merit list which is formulated taking into account the performance of each level.

Question: What are the important dates for this examination?

• Starting Date of registration procedure: 13th February 2016
• Last Date of registration Part I: 14th March 2016 extended to 21st March 2016
• Last date of application Part II: extended to 24th March 2016
• Examination Date (SSC CGL 2016 Tier-I): 8th and 22nd May 2016

This is the tentative schedule. The tier 1 examination which was earlier supposed to be conducted on 8th May and 22nd May 2016 will now be held in the month of August, 2016. The exact dates for the same will be notified on the Commission’s website shortly.

Question: What are the age limits for the SSC CGL examination?

The age limit is 18 to 27 years on the crucial date generally. It is different for different posts and can be confirmed in the notice of exam on the official website (http://ssc.nic.in).

Question: Is there any Age Relaxation for SSC CGL Examination?

The age relaxation in the upper age limit for SCs/STs is five years, three years for OBCs and ten years for physically handicapped candidates. For widows, divorced women and judicially separated women, the age limit is 35 years for UR category; 40 years for SC/ST women and 38 years for OBC women.

Question: How long does it take to nominate candidates after declaration of the final results of an examination?

It generally takes about 30-40 days for the completion of the process. The candidates are then nominated to the respective ministries to which they have been allocated. The offer of appointment is issued to the candidates by the concerned ministry within a few months.
