NIFT 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Only the candidates who satisfy the NIFT eligibility criterion can apply for the entrance exam. The eligibility conditions for both UG and PG level programs are given below:
Age Limit
- Not more than 24 years as of 01 August 2021. However, age relaxation up to 5 years will be provided for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
- There is no upper age limit for PG courses.
Academic Qualification
The educational qualification varies for each course. Check detailed required qualifications for different courses from the post below.
For B. Des. Program
- Successfully completed or appearing for 10+2 qualifying examination or equivalent from any recognized Board
For B. F. Tech Programme
- Successfully completed or appearing for 10+2 qualifying examination or equivalent from any recognized Board, having studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as a subject combination
For MFM Programme
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University.
For M. F. Tech Programme
- B. F. Tech. from NIFT, OR, B. E/B. Tech. from a recognized Institute/University.

NIFT 2021 Application Form
All the eligible candidates must make sure to fill the application form on or before the last date. You can follow the steps listed below to fill the NIFT online form without any errors.
- Visit the official website, i.e. www.nift.ac.in
- Register on the official website before proceeding to fill the application form. Upon successful registration, your login credentials will be sent via email to the registered email address.
- Log in using the credentials to access and fill the Application Form. Fill in all the mandatory fields with correct information.
- You will need to upload scanned copies of recent passport-size colored photograph and signature in black on white background in JPG/JPEG format
- After uploading the required documents, the application fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or offline via demand draft. In the case of offline fee payment, you need to draw a Demand Draft of the requisite amount in favor of ‘NIFT HO’ payable at New Delhi.
- You must send the Demand Draft along with a printout of the filled-in Application Form duly completed in all respects (via Speed Post/Registered Post/Courier Service) to the following address:

NIFT 2021 Exam Pattern
The entrance exam seeks to check your knowledge, aptitude, and skills for the program chosen by you. The entrance test consists of Written-test, Situation Test, and Group Discussion/Personal Interview. You can attempt all the questions as there is no negative marking.
Written Test
The written test is further divided into Creative Ability Test (CAT), and General Ability Test (GAT).
Creative ability test (CAT) for B.Des and M.Des
CAT (Creative Ability Test) tries to assess the observing power of applicants in the growth of a concept, as well as their intuitive skill to design. Important elements of the CAT are the illustrative abilities and creativity of candidates in using color.
General ability test (GAT)
- The overall aptitude and quantitative, communicative, and analytical abilities of the applicants will be assessed in the GAT (General Ability Test) apart from general knowledge and current events.
- Exam Duration for GAT written test will be 2 hours for B.Des & M.Des and it is 3 hours for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech

Situation Test
You will be allowed to write a situation test, only if you score above the cut-off marks in the Written exam. Your skills for material handling and innovative ability as per the given situation with the material provided is evaluated in this exam.
Group Discussion/ Personal Interview
The final stage of NIFT 2021 will be the Personal Interview round wherein Interview Panel on the basis of the candidates’ academic and co-curricular achievements, creative and lateral thinking ability, communication skills, and finally, career orientation and aptness for the selected program will evaluate the candidate.
NIFT 2021 Syllabus
It is important to go through the NIFT Syllabus 2021 before starting your preparation as it will help you know the important topics from the exam point of view.
- You must note that the syllabus for CAT and GAT will be different.
- The NIFT Syllabus consists of topics such as Quantitative Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Analytical and Logical Ability, Problem Solving Approach.
- Also, it includes topics such as Design Ability, Observation Power, Creativity in Thought Development.
NIFT 2021 Preparation Tips
- Create a practical study plan by giving more time to topics that you find difficult and keep a buffer so that you can complete some pending revisions.
- The important thing is not to waste time on questions that seem to be difficult. Finish off all the sections which you are really good at so that you can dedicate more time to the difficult ones.
- If you are planning to give your exam in the 9-12 slot, you should practice solving papers at the same time so that your mind is trained to be super active during that period.
- Practicing previous year's question papers during the last couple of months before the exam will help you know the difficulty level of the paper and the type of questions asked in the exam.
- Analyze your exam preparation level by attempting mock tests.

NIFT 2021 Admit Card
The admit card is a necessary document without which you will not be allowed to appear for the examination. You should keep in mind certain points regarding the NIFT Admit Card 2021.

NIFT 2021 Exam Centers
You are required to select only one examination city according to your choice during the application process. Once selected, you will not be able to change the examination center opted and nor any request for a change in the examination. NIFT 2021 Result
The National Institute of Technology will release the result on the official website. The result will be released in the form of a merit list. The NIFT 2021 Result is released separately for B.Des and M.Des course. The result can be downloaded from the official website by following the steps given below:

- Step 3: Enter details as demanded on-screen
- Step 4: The result would be displayed on the screen
- Step 5: Download the result and take a printout for future reference
NIFT 2021 Cut-off
The cut-off marks are the minimum qualifying marks that you need to secure to get selected in the exam. NIFT 2021 Cut-off is the closing rank set by participating institutes and the same will vary across NIFT campuses.
- The cutoff list will be released after the declaration of the result.
- There are 16 NIFT campuses in India and they will release an opening and closing rank for various courses.
NIFT 2021 Admission Process
You are required to register through the official website in order to participate in the counselling process. You need to enter your choice of campus for the counselling session.
- For the GD and PI Interview rounds, you have to download the call letter online by entering your application number, date of birth, and roll number.
- At the time of counselling, document verification will also be done.
- Though the institute does not charge any fee for the primary round of counseling, however each subsequent round of counseling would be charged at the rate of INR 5000.
Documents Required at the time of NIFT Counselling 2021
The following documents are required at the time of the NIFT 2021 Counselling process:
- All-Academic Certificates up to qualifying examination. In case of final exam appearing candidate whose result is due, all original mark sheet of the previous semester/years needs to be presented along with the date sheet/admit card for examination.
- Demand Draft of requisite fee in favor of ‘NIFT HO’. Payable at New Delhi has to be submitted. Your name, counseling date, contact number, program name, NIFT Rank, and Roll Number should be clearly mentioned at the back of DD.
- Proof of DOB
- Documents in the prescribed format, in support of the claim of reservation.
- Parents Income Certificate as the basis for Tuition Fee funding.
- Medical certificate in the prescribed format issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner.
- Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- for seeking only provisional admission in case the qualifying examination result is due.
- Anti-Ragging Declaration and Declaration regarding Fee Refund.
