The National Institute of Fashion Technology released the brochure for the academic year 2023 with several updates for the coming year. NIFT has set specific eligibility criteria you must satisfy to apply for the NIFT Exam.
The essential NIFT eligibility criteria for UG programs: B.Des and BF. Tech is to have completed the 12th standard from any recognized board with an age not exceeding 24 years as of 01 August 2023.
Similarly, the NIFT eligibility criteria for PG programs: M.Des, M.F.M, and M.F.Tech is to have completed an undergraduate or diploma degree in any discipline.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for UG
The undergraduate programs offered on qualifying NIFT entrance exams are B.Des and B.FTech. Nationality and Age limit factors can remain quite similar for all the programs. The eligibility criteria for the NIFT entrance exam are posted below.

Foreign Nationals (whether residing in India or abroad) (or)
Citizens of India holding an Indian passport and have temporarily immigrated to another country for six months or work, residence, or any other purpose can apply for the exam
Age Limit
Your age should be less than 24 years as of 01 August 2023. However, the upper age limit will be relaxed up to 5 years for SC, SC, and PwD categories.
The NIFT eligibility criteria for B.Des are as follows:
You should have a passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects (or)
You must have passed the 12th standard from any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi (or)
If you have a 3 or 4 years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, then you are eligible to apply for the exam (or)
Aspirants who have taken the General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB) are eligible (or)
If you have taken any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 12th standard are eligible.
The eligibility criteria for BF Tech in NIFT are as follows:
You must have completed the +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Board of Secondary Examination (or)
You must have General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB) (or)
A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics and Mathematics. (or)
Three or a 4-year diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for PG

Age Limit
Per the notification, there are no upper age limit criteria to apply for the Master of Design Program. However, your minimum age should be 20 years to apply for this program.
Educational Qualification for M. Des or NIFT M.Des eligibility criteria is as follows:
You can apply if you have an undergraduate degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India (or)
You must hold a minimum of three years of undergraduate diploma certificate from NIFT/ NID.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for MFM
Here are the eligibility criteria for the NIFT entrance exam for the MFM course:
You must hold a minimum of 3 years undergraduate diploma certificate from NIFT/NID if you are willing to apply for the Master of Fashion Management program (or)
If you have an undergraduate degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognized by law in India, you can apply for the exam.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for M. F Tech
Educational Qualification for MF Tech
You should have completed B.FTech. from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or
BE / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognized by law in India to apply for the Master of Fashion Technology.
NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023 for Foreign Nationals/ NRI/ OCI/ SAARC
Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indians who are citizens of India holding an Indian passport and have temporarily immigrated to another country for six months or more for work, residence, or any other purpose can also apply for NIFT 2023.
Age Limit
For UG Program: Your age should be less than 24 years of 01 August 2023. However, you will be given five years of age relaxation if you belong to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories.
For PG Program: The minimum age should be 20 years, and there are no upper age limit criteria to apply for PG programs.
Educational Qualification
Suppose you have a degree certificate from a University/ Board of any other country. In that case, you must have obtained an equivalent certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, before admission.
You can opt for as many SAT/ GMAT/ GRE tests before 30th April 2023. However, the highest score on these tests will be considered for allowing a seat.
Note that the GRE/ GMAT/ SAT scores should have been declared after 01 January 2019 and received by the Institute (NIFT) latest by 30th April 2023.
The program and campus will be allotted based on the merit list drawn as per your scores in the following examinations.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria for State Domicile
You should have a certificate from the concerned school/ college of the particular state.
The address of the school attended by you regularly will determine your domicile status if you have obtained the degree certificate through distance learning mode.

NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2023: Reservation of Seats
A certain percentage of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (Non-Creamy)/GEN-EWS/ Person With Disability (PWD)/ Foreign Nationals /SAARC/ NRI/ OCI/ State Domicile in each program.
The category selected by you at the time of submitting the application form will be final, and the requirements will differ for each type. Check the requirements for each category from the post below.
SC/ST Category
You have to produce a Caste/Tribe certificate from the Competent Authority of the respective States/Union Territories/ National Commission of Tribes if you belong to SC/ ST category.
OBC (Non-Creamy) Category
You will have to substantiate the caste and non-creamy layer requirement if you belong to OBC (non-creamy) category. Also, you have to produce a caste certificate from the Competent Authority certifying that they belong to the non-creamy layer.
The OBC (Non-Creamy) certificate should mention that you belong to the non-creamy layer.
The caste mentioned in the OBC (Non-Creamy) certificate should find mentioned in the Central list of OBCs available.
In the case of a married woman applying under the reserved category, you must produce the caste certificate by your name.
Note that the certificate in the name of the husband/mother/ father is not acceptable.
You are not entitled to apply under the reserved category OBC (NC) if you belong to the Creamy Layer of OBC.
General (Economically Weaker Section)
The benefit of reservation will be given only to those General category candidates who satisfy the condition shown in the OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II dated 17 January 2019 issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.
The benefit of reservation will be given to only candidates who will produce an Income & Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority (or)
District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/ 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner (or)
Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and his family typically reside.
Persons with Disability (PWD)
You should have a certificate of Disability if you belong to the PwD category, and the certificate should be issued by a medical authority designated under sub-section (1) of section 57 of the act and rules 17 (a) and (b) of GSR 591(E).
Note that you must produce the original certificate of Disability both at the time of counselling and at the time of admission to the Institute.
It is mandatory to attend counselling for evaluation for the PwD candidates.
The course will be allotted to you only after assessing your capabilities.
