Amarnath cave declared silent area

The National Green Authority (NGT) has declared the Amarnath cave temple as a "Silent Area" while showing the sensitivity of the environment and has banned any mantras or bells before its entry point.
●    A bench headed by NGT chairman Justice Swatantra Kumar said that the Amarnath Shrine Board should ensure that proper infrastructure has been provided to the pilgrims so that they are not deprived of clear vision and maintain the ecology of the region.
●    Amarnath temple is located in Jammu and Kashmir. During pilgrimage here, millions of pilgrims come for the darshan.
●    The NGT says that declaring the area surrounding the Amarnath cave as a "silent area" will help in preventing avalanches and its natural beauty can be accommodated as soon as possible.
●    NGT also says that this will prevent sound pollution and balance of ecology will continue.
●    The green panel also ordered the removal of iron grills in front of Shivling, so that the devotees could see it better and said that the sacred structure should not have any mantras.
●    The Bench also directed the Expert Committee to report cleanliness in this area and to declare a "silent area".

Rajasthan government will give political prisoner status to democracy

The Rajasthan State Government announced that prisoners locked in jail during the Emergency will be given the status of 'Democracy Fighter'.
●    The State Council of Ministers decided to convert the Rajasthan MISA and DIR Bandi Pension Rule 2008 to December 12, 2017 as the Rajasthan Democonfire Honorary Fund, 2008.
●    So far those people who were locked up in the jails under MISA and DIR were given a monthly pension of 12,000 rupees and an allowance of 1200 rupees by the Rajasthan government.
●    In Rajasthan, the number of such people is 1050.
●    After the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Rajasthani people locked in any jail in the country will get the benefit of this scheme.
●    These people will not be required to get the facility of pension service signed by the Jail Superintendent or Superintendent of Police.
●    Only a self-signed certificate will be valid.

Sushil Kumar and Sakshi Malik won gold

Two-time Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar returned to international level after winning gold medal in Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.
●    Another Olympic medal winner, Sakshi Malik, who won a bronze in the 2016 Rio Games, also won a gold medal in the championship.
●    Sakshi won another gold medal for India by defeating New Zealand's Taeh Tuhin Ford with a score of 13-2 in the 62-kg Women's freestyle category final.
●    Earlier, returning after more than three years in international wrestling, Sushil won gold by defeating New Zealand's Akash Khullar in the 74kg freestyle category final.
●    Since winning the gold medal in Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, this was the first medal in Sushil Kumar's international wrestling.
●    Parvin Rana also won a bronze medal for India in this category. In the same championship match, both were clasps, and Sushil won the match winning 5-4.

Shikhar Dhawan became India's second fastest batsman to score 4000 runs in ODIs

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has become the second fastest batsman in India to score 4000 runs in ODIs.

ADB reduced the GDP growth rate of India to 6.7 percent

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reduced the GDP estimate of India's GDP from 7 percent to 6.7 percent for the current fiscal year 2017-18.
●    Given the impact of the ban on bondage, GST problems and the risk of agriculture have been reduced due to weather risk.
●    ADB has also reduced the growth rate for the next financial year 2018-19 to 7.3 percent.
●    Earlier he had expressed hope of 7.4 percent growth rate.
●    ADB has raised this step despite rising 6.3% in the second quarter of the country.
●    The Asian Development Bank has said in the Asian Development Outlook Supplement that the next two quarters of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018 will improve momentum as the government is taking steps to simplify compliance with GST.
●    To take steps for recapitalization of government banks and improve the international environment, growth will accelerate.

Delhi government approves accident victim policy

The Delhi government has decided to introduce accident victim policy which will cover the hospital expenses of road accidents, acid attacks or people living in the burn.
●    According to the government, whether all victims, whether from Delhi or not, and even foreigners, if the accident occurs in the capital, will have the right to free treatment at any hospital, government or private hospital in Delhi and its cost There will be no upper limit.
●    The proposed scheme 'Accidental Hunting Policy' will be required by the lieutenant governor's approval.
●    Its aim is to save as many people as possible. 
●    Through this scheme, the victims can be taken to any private hospital near the accident site.
●    Private hospitals will not demand any money from such relatives or relatives for their treatment.
●    Private hospitals will be asked to keep records of the victims so that they can reimburse the Delhi Government after verification.
●    Through this scheme, the private hospital can not say to any patient even if no matter how poor they are.
●    According to the Delhi Government, every year 8,000 accidents happen on the streets of Delhi, and about 1600 people die.

Central Cabinet Approves triple Talaq Bills

The central cabinet has approved the December 15, 2017 bill for declaring three divorced customs in the Muslim community as crime.
●    According to this, if a husband gives three divorce to his wife, then it will be considered unlawful.
●    With this provision for imprisonment for three years, provision for proper compensation and custody of children has been made to the woman.
●    There was no provision of punishment for three divorces in the law.
●    In view of this, the central government has stepped in to make tough laws against three divorces.
●    According to the bill's proposal, three divorces will be illegal at one time. Then again, it has been sent by speaking, writing or via electronic medium like email, SMS and WhatsApp.
●    On August 22, 2017, the Supreme Court had termed three divorces as unlawful and unconstitutional at one time. 
●    The Bench of five judges of the Supreme Court told the three divorces against the fundamental principle of the Koran in the verdict of 3: 2 vote.The Supreme Court had said that the divorce of three divorces in the Muslim system is invalid, illegal and unconstitutional.

NGT banned plastic goods in Haridwar, Rishikesh

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has banned the use of plastic near Ganga river in Haridwar, Rishikesh, upper areas of Uttarkashi district, on 15th December, 2017.
●    This is a big decision by the NGT to cleanse the Ganga.
●    The bench chaired by NGT Chairman Justice Swatish Kumar also stopped the sale, manufacturing and storage of such things till Uttarkashi.
●    The NGT has said in the verdict that if anyone violates the order by ignoring the order, then he will be fined with a penalty of Rs. 5000.
●    The NGT has ruled this decision keeping the cleanliness and purity of the Ganges in mind.
●    The NGT passed the order after mentioning that despite its earlier order, plastic bags are being used in these areas, which is causing pollution in Ganga river.
●    Green unit was hearing environmentalist MC Mehta's petition.
●    Earlier, the NGT had banned the Amarnath cave from declaring a quiet area and shouting a certain boundary.
●    NGT declared the Silent Area to maintain the environmental sensitivity of Amarnath cave Shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas and ban religious rituals ahead of entry point.

Madhya Pradesh government will connect rivers Narmada & Parvati

Madhya Pradesh government has approved the project to connect rivers Narmada & Parvati.
●    The scheme approved by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on December 13, 2017 is Rs. 7,546 crore.
●    Due to the connectivity of the two rivers, irrigation facilities will be available in two lakh hectare area of this area.
●    In addition, various activities related to the development of the farmers of the area and the agriculture can be started.
●    Irrigation facility will be available in two lakh hectare area of Malwa region.
●    This is the fourth ambitious project after the Narmada-Kshipra link project, Narmada-Sree Link Project for the Malwa region and Narmada-Kali Sindh project.
●    It was instructed by the Chief Minister to complete the work of irrigation projects within the time limit.
●    Narmada-Kshetra link project has a permanent solution to Dewas and Ujjain drinking water problem.
●    Construction of Narmada-Sree Link Project of about 50,000 hectares of irrigation capacity is underway.
●    It was also informed that the construction of the Narmada-Parvati link project will be completed in four phases.
●    This project will benefit the farmers of 369 villages of Sehore and Shajapur districts.

Sri Lanka sign land-mine ban treaty

Sri Lanka has given its consent for membership of the Land Consumption Ban Treaty Conference and at the same time it has become the 163rd member country of this Convention.
●    Sri Lanka had promised to participate in this Convention last year and to give support to the international community on the landmine clearance program.
●    This is considered an important step in Sri Lanka because it was one of the major countries to use such mines.
●    But since then, it started a comprehensive and continuous effort to stop such mines.
●    Sri Lanka said that they are looking forward to implementing and promoting this Convention, which includes capacity building and disposal of mines.
●    All member countries, who are members of this treaty or conference, are committed to destroying all the countries within the next 4 years of signing the treaty, such mines which they have or come to their area.

Narinder Batra became President of Indian Olympic Association

Head of the International Hockey Federation, Narinder Batra has become the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). 
●    On December 14, 2017, in the annual general meeting, Naruto Batra went ahead in the count of Voto.
●    He defeated his opponent Anil Khanna by a huge difference of votes. Narinder Batra got 142 votes and Anil Khanna got only 13 votes.
●    Narinder Batra will remain in office for four years.
●    This election was conducted under the supervision of the three-member Election Commission, which included two retired judges of the High Court while the legal advisor to the Election Commission of India, S. K. Mehndiratta, was the election officer.
●    Narinder Batra will hold this post for a period of four years from 2018 to 2022.
●    The election of Narinder Batra was only formal because the Asian Tennis Federation president Anil Khanna had withdrawn from the race last week.
●    Anil Khanna had written to the IOA Election Commission and conveyed his decision to withdraw from the election.

Rohit Sharma became the first batsman to score double century for the third time

UIDAI has imposed a stop on  Airtel and Airtel payment banks Aadhar based SIM verification process.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhar card, has done the biggest action on Airtel and Airtel Payment Bank till now.
●    The Authority has temporarily suspended the e-KYC license of Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank.
●    Country's leading telecom operator Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank will no longer be able to base card based verification of SIM card of their mobile customers through e-KYC.
●    Not only this, UIDAI has also stopped Airtel from adopting e-KYC process for verification of its payment bank customers.
●    In addition to verifying SIM from the base, Airtel will not be able to take e-KYC procedure for verification of customers of its payment bank.
●    UIDAI has imposed this restriction on Airtel due to allegations of alleged misuse of the procedure based on e-KYC SIM verification.
●    Airtel has alleged that it has opened its bank accounts without the consent of its customers.
●    The company has alleged that the customers used to get E-KYC based on SIM based and their bank accounts were opened.

GST Council sanctioned e-way bills, will be applicable from 1st February

GST (commodity and service tax) council has made it compulsory from February 1, 2018, filling a crucial e-bill in its 24th meeting on Saturday.
●    Now the rule will apply when the goods are taken from state to state.
●    Some states can implement both the interstate (within the state) and the interstate (within states) e-pay bill on February 1, on a voluntary basis.
●    The system for e-way bills will be made available from January 15.
●    At the same time, the e-way bill will be mandatory from June 1.
●    At the same time, e-bills will be started in the state from February.
●    If there is a movement from one state to another or another within the state, then the supplier will have to generate e-bill.
●    For the supplier, it will be necessary to make this bill even for the transit of those items which are not within the purview of GST.

The Cabinet approved to replenish the MDR fee applicable for the transaction of debit card / Bhim UPI / AEPS transactions upto Rs 2,000 / 

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the amount of merchant discount rate (MDR) applied for all the two years of debit card / Bhima UPI / Aadhaar enabled payment system (AEPS) transaction upto Rs 2,000 / - Has approved.
●    This will be effective from January 01, 2018 and will be repaid to its banks.
●    A committee created by the Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, the Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the CEO of Indian National Payment Corporation (NPCI) will look at the industrial expenditure structure of such transactions, through which the basis for determining the level of payment Will be prepared.
●    As a result of this approval, consumer and businessman will not be disturbed by such additional burden as MDR for any transaction costing less than Rs. 2000.
●    With this, people will adopt the digital payment mode more for this type of transaction.
●    Since the percentage of such transactions is very high, this will help in increasing the direction of cash economy.
●    In relation to transactions valued at less than Rs. 2000, the banks will be paid an MDR of Rs. 883 crores in the financial year 2018-19 to Rs. 630 crores and Rs. 883 crores in the financial year 2019-20.

The Cabinet approved the creation of a Divisional Office of the Metro Railway Safety Commissioner for the performance of Metro Railway Security Commission under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has envisaged the implementation of the functions of the Railway Protection Commission under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, like Metro Railway Safety Commission, in the 'Metro Rail (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002'. For the construction of a divisional office of the Commissioner of the Metro Rail Safety with all the Assistant Officers and employees.
●    The Cabinet also allowed the two existing Railway Safety Commissioners (CRS) to give additional charge of two boards which will exercise their rights within their current jurisdiction.
●    These boards will not be subject to the jurisdiction of CMRS, New Delhi.
●    Under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the post of Commissioner of Metro Railway will be in the HAG (salary level 15) in the Railway Safety Commission.
●    Estimated expenditure on wages for a board office will be approximately Rs. 59,39,040 per annum.
●    In addition to the initial establishment of the organization, the potential expenditure for the Mandal office will be Rs. 7,50,000 per annum.
●    With the creation of these posts, it will be ensured to focus on passenger safety and metro rail operations related to existing and various upcoming railway projects, as in the Railway Safety Commission under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Metro Rail (Operations and Maintenance) There is a provision in the Act, 2002.

National cabinet approved to set up National Nutrition Mission

In the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has given its approval for the establishment of the National Mission on Nutrition (NNM) starting from 2017-18 with a budget of Rs 9046.17 crore.
●    NNM will monitor, supervise, guide and guide the nutritional interventions of the ministries as a top body.
●    The government has implemented several schemes to deal with cases of malnutrition between children and women under the age of six years.

Jaypee Group deposits Rs 150 crore in Supreme Court

Real Estate Company Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. Following the order of the Supreme Court, deposited Rs 150 crore in the court registry on Thursday.

●    The court had accepted the demand draft of Rs 275 crore entrusted by the company on December 22 and directed it to deposit up to Rs 150 crore till December 14 and Rs 125 crore by December 31.
●    The court also prohibited the company's 13 directors from selling their own property.

Cabinet gives approval for giving capital investment subsidy to industrial units located in North Eastern Region

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), the four industrial units located in the North-Eastern region including Sikkim under the Central Capital Investment Subsidy Scheme (CCISS), 2007 of the Northeast Industrial Investment and Promotion Policy (NEIIPP), 2007.
●    CCEA has revised financial powers for approval of capital investment subsidy claims upto Rs.500 crores, which will be approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
●    This will lead to faster settlement of claims.
●    To provide subsidy to the industrial units will not only encourage the operating units, but also the confidence of potential investors in the North-Eastern states along with existing investors.
●    The Government is implementing this scheme to promote industrialization in the North-Eastern region.

Cabinet approves second financial restructuring of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the second financial restructuring of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL).
●    KRCL is the Central Public Sector Enterprises in the administrative control of Ministry of Railways.
●    Through the Ministry of Railways, the non-cumulative redeemable preference shares (RPS) of Rs 4,079.51 crores held by the President of India have been approved to be converted into compulsory convertible non cumulative preference shares (CCPS).
●    This will increase the net value of the company after the new accounting standard ID-AS is implemented.
●    According to the INR-AS, KRCL has to present data of the balance sheet of the previous year viz., March 31, 2016 and April 01, 2015, starting the business.
●    Converting non-cumulative redeemable preference shares (RPS) into compulsory convertible non cumulative preference shares (CCPS) with effect from March 31, 2015, the net value of KRCL will become positive.

Vice President inaugurates World Conference on Vedas

India's Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Vedas spread welfare for world peace, global brotherhood, and everyone.

Cabinet approves special package for employment generation in leather and footwear sector

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the special package for employment creation in the leather and footwear sector.
●    This package includes implementation of 'Indian Footwear, Leather and Accessories Goods Program' with an approved expenditure of Rs 2,600 crore during the three financial years of 2017-18 to 2019-20.

The Union Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Maneka, Sanjay Gandhi inaugurated the two-day National Workshop on the role of 'Sakhi One Stop Center' in New Delhi to strengthen the multi-regional response mechanism to prevent violence.
●    This workshop has been organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
●    Nearly 400 Sakhi One Stop Center staff and nodal officers from 33 States / Union Territories of the state women and child development departments are participating in a two-day workshop.
●    While addressing the participants, Mrs Maneka Sanjay Gandhi said that the One Stop Center Scheme is a very effective initiative to protect and help the affected women.
●    Keeping in view the importance of this plan, it is mandatory to ensure that the OSSC (One Stop Center) centers are being run in full professional and efficient manner and full sympathy with the distressed women coming to the center.
●    He further said that the objective of these OSSC centers is to provide such safe and prosperous environment for such women.
●    The Minister said that the first one stop center was started at Raipur in Chhattisgarh, and in a short time the center became a lifeline for the distressed women.
●    Since then, a large number of OSS centers have been set up in different parts of the country.

●    After completion of thirty percent of the project in June 2004, the work had to be completely stopped due to the local movement.
●    With the continuous efforts of NIPCO and the active cooperation of the Ministry of Power and the North Eastern Region Development Ministry, Center and Mizoram, the work was started again in January 2011.

Cabinet clears NLCPR scheme for North-East till March 2020

Ministry of Railways introduced online bill tracking system for vendors and contractors

As an important step to increase transparency in the investigation and disposal of bills, Indian Railways has introduced a system for tracking the vendors and contractors' bills.
●    This step is in line with the decision of Rail and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal to increase the transparency and use of information technology to streamline the system.
●    Vendors / contractors must register on an online information technology platform.
●    It has been developed by CIRS, New Delhi and its name is Indian Railways e-Purchase System (IREPS).
●    After registration, vendors and agencies will be able to get information about their billing status, etc. Through this platform they will be able to get their bills, amount and full details.
●    The vendor will also know the old details of the bills submitted. Bill Trekking is available for vendors / contractors related to convenience goods and services.
●    Information about the flaws or omissions of the bill will also be available.

IBBI notified regulations for resolution of complaints and complaints

IBBI has notified the IBBI (Reporting and Complaint Management Process) Regulation, 2017 in the Gazette of India on December 7, 2017.

●    ED has said that it has seized the mutual funds of Wheat Field Chemtech Private Limited.
●    This action has been done under Section 37A of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
●    This company is controlled by Amin and his family.
●    The names of Amin and his family members came in the Panama Papers case.
●    Amin and his family members also came to know about the participation and interest of Britain's Virgin Islands in Panama Papers.
●    Amin and his family members bought a 3 BHK apartment in Camden Hill, UK, through his company, Wheatfield Chemtech Private Limited India.
●    This apartment was purchased for 1.6 million US dollars (more than Rs 10 crore).
