The Prime Minister addressed the inaugural session of the 90th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the 90th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) today.
●    Recalling the establishment of FICCI in 1927, the Prime Minister said that Indian industry was united against the Simon Commission set up by the British Government.
●    He said that at that time the Indian industry stood with every class of society.
●    Shri Narendra Modi said that the same atmosphere exists today, when the people of the country are coming forward to fulfill their responsibilities towards the nation.
●    He said that people want the country to get rid of domestic problems like corruption and black money.
●    He said that political parties and industry associations should work in keeping with the needs of the country and the feelings of the people.
●    The Prime Minister said that after the independence, a lot of achievements have been received, but many challenges have arisen.
●    He said that the poor people had to struggle against the system and have to face issues such as bank accounts, gas connections, scholarships, pensions etc.
●    The Central Government is trying to end this struggle.
●    His efforts are to create a system that is transparent and sensitive.

Ministry of Railways introduced online bill tracking system for vendors and contractors

As an important step to increase transparency in the investigation and disposal of bills, Indian Railways has introduced a system for tracking the vendors and contractors' bills.
●    This step is in line with the decision of Rail and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal to increase the transparency and use of information technology to streamline the system.
●    Vendors / contractors must register on an online information technology platform.
●    It has been developed by CIRS, New Delhi and its name is Indian Railways e-Purchase System (IREPS).
●    After registration, vendors and agencies will be able to get information about their billing status, etc. Through this platform they will be able to get their bills, amount and full details.
●    The vendor will also know the old details of the bills submitted. Bill Trekking is available for vendors / contractors related to convenience goods and services.
●    Information about the flaws or omissions of the bill will also be available.
●    A facilitator has also been added to facilitate the vendors.

Signing of MOU on supply of sand for construction of highway between DCI and NHAI


A Memorandum of Understanding signed yesterday for the smooth supply of sand for the construction of a highway between the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI) and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
●    Units engaged in construction of National Highway have to face sand deficiency in many places.
●    With this agreement, sand will be easily available for the construction of National Highway.
●    DCI has employed large quantities of sand dredging at many places in South East Asia, which provides a large amount of sand.
●    According to the Memorandum of Understanding, this sand will be transported to different ports and its trade will be done.
●    NHAI will demonstrate the availability of sand in the reservoir of the harbor.


Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu met the President of Argentina


Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu participated in several bilateral meetings during the Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina today.
●    Mr. Suresh Prabhu met the President of Argentina, Mr. Morrison Macari.
●    The two leaders discussed the broad issues of bilateral cooperation.
●    Mr. Prabhu also called on Mr. Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Minister of Economic Affairs, Education and Research of Switzerland.
●    Both the ministers discussed the bilateral relations and the ongoing negotiations on the India-Effa Agreement.
●    Mr. Prabhu also met with Foreign Minister Mr. George Fori.
●    Both sides discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation such as political, economic, scientific and technological.
●    Mr. Suresh Prabhu today participated in trade forum during the Conference of the Ministry of Trade in the WTO.
●    During the debate, Lord emphasized the importance of food and nutrition for the people of India.

Union Minister of State for Defense Dr. Subhash Bhamre today dedicated two important bridges to the nation in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
●    On the two-day visit to the Mohanbari Air Force Station, Dibrugarh, on arrival in the area, Maj Gen Gajendra Singh, GOC, Dao Division and Gp Capt V Ahluwalia, Station Commander of Air Force Station, Mohanbari welcomed Mr. Bhamare.
●    After this Bhamre reached Rowing, east of Arunachal Pradesh, where he inaugurated two Pulo.
●    He inaugurated the first 140 meter long Enzupi Bridge on Rowing-Koronu-Paya route, which is part of the trans-Arunachal highway.
●    With the completion of the Enjupi bridge, smooth access between the two important districts of Rowing and Teju will be possible.
●    After this, Mr. Bhamre inaugurated the three-hundred-meter-long Diopani / Is bridge on the river Rowing.
●    While devoting the bridge to the nation, he appreciated the BRO's entrepreneur project in this area.
●    Due to the completion of these bridges, the strategic presence of the border with the China border will continue to be connected with the important Dibang Valley.

India signs $250 million loan agreement with World Bank

Today, for signing a skill-building awareness program for skill development (Sankalp) for increasing livelihood, India has signed the USD 250 million IBRD loan agreement with World Bank.
●    On behalf of India, on behalf of the Department of Economic Affairs, Joint Secretary Sameer Kumar Khare and World Bank's Country Director, Country Bank Mr. Junaid Kamal Ahmed signed in New Delhi.
●    The purpose of the project is to promote institutional mechanisms for skill development and increase access to quality and market-friendly training of workforce.
●    Planning, distribution and high quality market-friendly training in key areas of the project; Better quality and market related importance of skill development programs; To provide better access to the skills training of women trainees and other neglected groups and to strengthen the institutions at national and state levels to monitor the expansion of skill training through private-public participation.
●    The project expiry date is 31 March, 2023.

India will host the 3rd annual meeting of the Asian Board of Directors of the Infrastructure Investment Bank

India will host the 3rd annual meeting of the Asian Development Bank's Board of Directors between Mumbai and Mumbai between 25 and 26 June 2018.
●    The subject of this meeting of 2018 is - Financing of Finances: Innovation and Cooperation.
●    A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today to determine the duties and responsibilities of the key partners involved in organizing the above mentioned annual meeting between the Government of India and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Secretariat.
●    On behalf of the Government of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Mr. Sameer Kumar Khare, Joint Secretary (Multilateral Institution Division), Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, and AIIB, Mr. A.D.I. Vice President and Corporate Secretary Mr. Danny Alexander.
●    Signature functions were held in the Ministry of Finance, located in North Block, New Delhi.
●    On this occasion Subhash Chandra Garg, Secretary (Economic Affairs), Dr. MM Kutty, Additional Secretary (Economic Affairs) and many senior officials of Government of India and AIIB were present.
●    On this occasion, Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Shri Subhash Chandra Garg said that it is very important that India is organizing the third annual meeting of AIIB in Mumbai.
●    India is not just the founding member of AIIB but it is also the second largest shareholder in AIIB.

Prime Minister will dedicate the Naval submarine INS Kalvari to the nation tomorrow

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicates Naval submarine INS Kalvari to the nation on Thursday in Mumbai.
●    INS Kalwari is a diesel-electric warfare submarine, created by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited for the Indian Navy.
●    This is the first submarine of those 6 submarines, which is to be included in the Indian Navy.
●    It reflects the success of 'Make in India' initiative.
●    This project is being run in cooperation with France.
●    Prime Minister dedicates this submarine to the nation at the Naval port in the presence of the Defense Minister, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Senior Naval officers.
●    He will address dignitaries present and inspect the submarine.
