Vice President inaugurates World Conference on Vedas

India's Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Vedas spread welfare for world peace, global brotherhood, and everyone.
●    Inaugurating the World Conference on Vedas called "Vedas Vedas", he said that the relevance of the Vedas towards humanity is quite high.
●    Yajur Veda explains that the meaning of knowledge of the Vedas is the welfare of the whole mankind.
●    He further said that the Vedas are not related to any caste or religion.
●    Describing the Vedas as the earliest known work of ancient knowledge and philosophy in India, the Vice President said that the roots of our civilization, culture, thought and philosophy are rooted in the Vedas.
●    He said that Vedas are the source of knowledge and they guide us in modernizing the fields of economics, society, education and politics and maintaining high moral standards.
●    Vedic philosophy reveals that truth, non-violence, patience, penance and spiritual uplift are the basis of human life.
●    Vedas give message of religious harmony, equality and progress of nation.
●    Quoting Rig Veda verse 5.60.5, Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that according to the Vedas, no person in the society is small or big.

Cabinet approves special package for employment generation in leather and footwear sector


Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the special package for employment creation in the leather and footwear sector.
●    This package includes implementation of 'Indian Footwear, Leather and Accessories Goods Program' with an approved expenditure of Rs 2,600 crore during the three financial years of 2017-18 to 2019-20.
●    This scheme of Central sector will lead to the development of infrastructure in leather sector, specific environmental concerns related to leather sector will be overcome, additional investment will be facilitated, job creation and production will increase.
●    Increasing tax incentives will attract wide investment in this area and keeping in view the seasonal nature of this sector, improvement in labor law will lead to an increase in production level.
●    The special package has the capacity to create 3.24 lakh new jobs during the three years and will help to formalize two lakh jobs as cumulative impact on the footwear, leather and accessories sector.

Maneka Sanjay Gandhi inaugurated a two-day national workshop on the role of 'Sakhi One Stop Center' in New Delhi

The Union Women and Child Development Minister, Mrs. Maneka, Sanjay Gandhi inaugurated the two-day National Workshop on the role of 'Sakhi One Stop Center' in New Delhi to strengthen the multi-regional response mechanism to prevent violence.
●    This workshop has been organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
●    Nearly 400 Sakhi One Stop Center staff and nodal officers from 33 States / Union Territories of the state women and child development departments are participating in a two-day workshop.
●    While addressing the participants, Mrs Maneka Sanjay Gandhi said that the One Stop Center Scheme is a very effective initiative to protect and help the affected women.
●    Keeping in view the importance of this plan, it is mandatory to ensure that the OSSC (One Stop Center) centers are being run in full professional and efficient manner and full sympathy with the distressed women coming to the center.
●    He further said that the objective of these OSSC centers is to provide such safe and prosperous environment for such women.
●    The Minister said that the first one stop center was started at Raipur in Chhattisgarh, and in a short time the center became a lifeline for the distressed women.
●    Since then, a large number of OSS centers have been set up in different parts of the country.

Narendra Modi to dedicate 60 MW of Tural Hydel Project to Mizoram in Mizoram tomorrow


Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will dedicate the 60 MW Tural Hydel Project in Mizoram to the nation.
●    On this occasion, Lieutenant General (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, Governor of Mizoram, Chief Minister of Mizoram Shri Lal Thanhawla, Central Central North Eastern Region Development, Prime Minister's Office, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pension, Atomic Energy and Minister of State for Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh and Union Power Minister And Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy (Independent Charge) Mr. R. K. Singh will also be present.
●    The Prime Minister will launch "Midnapore App" on this occasion and will deliver checks to startup entrepreneurs in a program organized in Aisol.
●    The Trial hydroelectric project has been built in the form of a central sector plan.
●    It has been implemented by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) under the Power Ministry.
●    The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had granted permission for the execution of the project in July 1998 and it was scheduled to be completed in July 2006.
●    After completion of thirty percent of the project in June 2004, the work had to be completely stopped due to the local movement.
●    With the continuous efforts of NIPCO and the active cooperation of the Ministry of Power and the North Eastern Region Development Ministry, Center and Mizoram, the work was started again in January 2011.

The Cabinet approved the agreement with UNESCO on setting up of International Training Center for Operational Marine Science in Hyderabad.


The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, has approved the setting up of International Training Center for operational marine science in Hyderabad in the form of UNESCO Class-2 Center (C2C) in Hyderabad.
●    The purpose of this agreement is to set up training centers in the direction of capacity building for small island countries under the framework of the Indian Ocean (IOR), Indian and Atlantic Ocean, the UNESCO framework.
●    For conducting systematic marine science studies in the direction of providing information to different areas like offshore industries to operate smoothly, operational maritime science fishermen, disaster management, shipping, seaports, coastal states, naval, coast guard, environment, daily operations. Is an effective activity for you.
●    The Central Government will provide assistance in different areas like capacity building and training, sharing knowledge and exchange of information.
●    India can represent an important source for UNESCO and its Intergovernmental Maritime Science Commission (IOC) by enhancing the impact and visibility of UNESCO's work plan.

The Cabinet approved the signing of MoU in the field of agriculture and fisheries between India and Colombia

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the signing of MoU between India and Colombia in the field of agriculture and fisheries.
●    The MoU will provide cooperation in the following areas of agriculture and fisheries: -
●    Modern agricultural practices / approaches
●    New mechanicalization of agriculture
●    Successful model of agricultural marketing
●    Creating projects in collaboration with agricultural companies for seed production
●    Gardening (modern production model in vegetables, fruits and flowers and value creation processes
●    SPS specialist information / exchange of mutual visits
●    Jatropha and Karaya
●    Cooperation in research of oilseeds and oil palm
●    Research and training in industry related seaweed fishing, water agriculture and fisheries
●    The productivity, disease and diagnosis of ruminants, small and big animals (cattle, sheep, goat) and pigs and
●    Pork processing and value addition
●    During the period under consideration, a joint task party will be constituted to prepare / finalize the work plan for the next two years.
●    The Memorandum of Understanding will initially be valid for a period of five years and it will be automatically expanded for a period of five years, unless a single party wishes / intends to terminate it.

Minister of State for Defense, Shri Subhash Bhamre inaugurated the 49th Annual Conference of Nuclear Drugs Association

The Minister of State for Defense, Shri Subhash Bhamre today inaugurated the 49th Annual Conference of Indian Nuclear Medicine Association.
●    In his address on this occasion, Shri Bhamre said that progress in medical science has led to significant improvement in the standard of living.
●    Due to this progress, the increase in life expectancy, the incapable of being irrelevant, has helped increase the ability to treat diseases and understand the human body.
●    He said that in the last few years, the role of Nuclear Medicine has taken a major step.
●    Shri Bhamre said that DRDO's Research Laboratory, Nuclear Medicine and Allied Science Institute (INMAS) is playing a vital role in the research of nuclear medicine and is increasing the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
●    Inamas has always played an effective role in the field of radiation and imaging science through academic development.
●    The contribution of INmas is a great example of cooperation by the Ministry of Defense to research activities for the benefit of society.
●    Dr.Subhash Bhamre said that the scientists of Inna's have been active members in different activities-academic programs, policy formulation and training of Nuclear Drugs Association.

Cabinet clears NLCPR scheme for North-East till March 2020


Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the current non-leap al Central Pool of Resource (NLCPR) scheme with funding of 90:10 and continue with the expenditure of Rs 5300.00 crore till March, 2020.
●    This will enable existing projects to be completed.
●    The Union Cabinet also gave approval for introduction of new scheme of Central Sector "Northeast Special Infrastructure Development Scheme" (NESIDS) with Centrally Sponsored Government of 2017-18, so that the areas specified by March, 2020 The differences related to the creation of infrastructure can be found.
●    The new plan will broadly include the creation of infrastructure under the following areas.
●    Physical infrastructure related to water supply, electricity, connectivity and projects that promote tourism, especially;
●    Infrastructure of social sectors of education and health
●    Assets created under the new scheme of NESID will not only strengthen the healthcare and education facilities in the area but will also encourage tourism, which will increase employment opportunities for local youth.
●    This plan will play a catalyst in the overall development of this area in the coming years.
