Narsingh cleared of doping charges, set for Rio Olympics

In a sensational turnaround, Narsingh Yadav was exonerated of doping charges by the National Anti-doping Agency (NADA).
•    youth and sports minister vijay goyal announced this in parliament. He said that the NADA has cleared all allegations on Wrestler Pahalwan Narsingh Yadav under 74 KG category.
•    He said that the NADA has accepted that Narsingh Yadav has been framed in a conspiracy 
•    Members clapped on desk after Goyal’s announcement. Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurian welcomed this announcement 
•    After this clearance from NADA, his path towards Olympic is clear.
•    Earlier He was found positive for taking banned drug Methanadynon but the wrestler had claimed that he has been victim of some conspiracy.

Preparations are in full swing for “RUN FOR RIO” in NEW DELHI

Preparations are in full swing for RUN FOR RIO to be held in New Delhi on Sunday 31st July, 2016 at 7 am onwards. 
•    The objective of the Run is to not only demonstrate to our athletes that the whole country is proud of them and wishes them all the best in the forthcoming Rio Olympics competitions, but also to connect public at large, especially children and youth, with the Olympic spirit and power of sports. 
•    Around 20,000 school children will participate in the event which will commence from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium(MDCNS), India Gate, to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS),Lodhi Road. 
•    Similar Runs on a smaller scale will be held in the SAI Regional Centres at Sonepat, Kolkata, Bhopal, Gandhinagar and Thiruvananthapuram. 
•    An Olympic Exhibition and a Food Park is also being planned in collaboration of NDMC in New Delhi to coincide with the inauguration of the Games at RIO. 
•    Sponsorship commitments have been received from M/s. Coal India Limited (CIL) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for this event.

Ace Indian shuttler B Sai Praneeth has won the 2016 Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton title in the men’s singles category.

Indian shuttler B Sai Praneeth on 3 July 2016 clinched the Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton Men’s Singles title at Calgary.
Praneeth defeated Lee Hyun II of Korea 21-12, 21-10.
On the other hand, men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy also grabbed Men’s doubles title at the tournament.
Top seed doubles pair Attri and Reddy defeated Adrian Liu and Toby Ng 21-8 21-14 in a lop-sided final. The pair of Attri and Reddy is the first Indian men's doubles pair to qualify for the Rio Olympics.
•    Sai Praneeth Bhamidipati is a badminton player hailing from Hyderabad, Telangana.
•    He is currently ranked 33rd in the Badminton World Federation.
•    His highest ranking has been 31st as on 23 July 2015.
•    The Canada Open in badminton is an international open held in Canada since 1957.
•    In 1957, the Canadian Badminton Federation decided to open the Canadian National Championships and they were combined with the Canadian Open until 1961.
•    In 1962, they were divided and held as separate tournaments.
•    Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia was the winner of 2015 Canada Open Men’s singles title.
•    China’s Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen won the men's doubles title at the 2015 Canada Open.

Pakistan wins 2016 Asia Kabaddi Championship Cup

Pakistan has won the 3rd edition of the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2016.
•    India got defeated by Pakistan in the match. 
•    final match was held at Pakistan Ordinance Factory Sports Complex in Wah Cantonment
•    Pakistan defeated India by 50-31 
•    This is Pakistan’s second successive win in the Asian Kabaddi title 
•    Earlier they had won it in 2012. 
•    The championship was organised by the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation.
•    It was organized in collaboration with POF Sports Control Board under the banner of the Asian Kabaddi Federation. 
•    This edition of championship took place in a league format.
•    seven teams including India, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan had participated.  
•    Pakistan has hosted the Asia Circle Style Kabaddi Cup for the second time. 
•    Earlier it was held in 2012.
