AGREEMENTS AND MOUS:

Joint Statement between India and Namibia during President's visit to Namibia.

• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the proposal for a MoU between India and the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) and with Electoral Tribunal of Panama (ETP) on cooperation in the field of electoral management and administration.

• MoU contains standard articles/clauses which broadly express promotion of cooperation in the field of electoral management and administration including promotion of exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of organizational and technical development of electoral process; support in exchanging information, institutional strengthening and capacity building, training of personnel, holding regular consultations etc.

• The MOU would promote bilateral cooperation, aimed at building technical assistance/ capacity support for the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) and with Electoral Tribunal of Panama (ETP). It envisages cooperation in the field of electoral management and administration and providing a leg-up to it in conducting elections in their respective countries. This would also result in bolstering India's international relations.

India-OECD pact approved.

• The Union Cabinet approved the agreement between India and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

• It has been done for participating in the Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA).

• PISA will be conducted by the OECD in 2021. The agreement was signed on January 28, 2019.

GOVERNMENT SCHEME:

Greenpeace welcomes Centre's approval to launch rural solar scheme, KUSUM.

• The Centre's decision to allocate Rs 46,000 crores towards the rural solar scheme KUSUM, aimed to provide farmers with advanced technology to generate power, has been welcomed by environment experts who said it was essential to achieve the country's 100 GW solar target by 2022.

• The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday approved Rs 46,000 crore for KUSUM and rooftop solar schemes to promote adoption of solar power among farmers and residential sector.

• While KUSUM scheme for farmers has been allocated Rs 34,422 crore, rooftop solar program would get Rs 11,814 crore.

NATIONAL:

Union Cabinet Approves Implementation Of New Rural Livelihood Scheme.

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. on Tuesday approved the implementation of the National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP).

• This project under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) will be through loan assistance from the World Bank.

• The technical assistance provided by NRETP and the higher level interventions facilitated by the project will enhance the livelihoods promotion, access to finance and scale-up initiatives on digital finance and livelihood interventions.

Dearness Allowance (DA) For Government Employees, Pensioners Increased By 3%.

• The cabinet on Tuesday announced that it had approved a 3 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance or DA, a move that will benefit more than one crore central government employees and pensioners from January 1, 2019.

• The decision will cost the exchequer over Rs. 9,000 crore.

• Dearness allowance is a component of salary paid to employees to counter the effect of inflation.

• The 3 per cent increase will take the DA and Dearness Rate (DR) for pensioners to 12 per cent.

PM visits BHU in Varanasi; inaugurates Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Hospital.

• The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, visited BHU in Varanasi today.

• He inaugurated Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Hospital and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Lahartara. These Hospitals will provide comprehensive treatment to the patients from UP, and nearby states of MP, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

• Governor of UP Shri Ram Naik, CM of UP Shri Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Odisha CM Launches KALIA Scholarship for Farmers’ Children.

• Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today unveiled KALIA Scholarship (KALIA Chhatra Brutti) at the Secretariat here for the children of the KALIA Scheme beneficiaries, who are studying and aspiring for technical and professional education.

• After taking the historic step towards transforming the economic standards of the farmers of Odisha through Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA), the State Government has come up with KALIA Scholarship in order to ensure human resource development among the farming families across the State.

• KALIA Scheme is first of its kind assistance mechanism for farmers in India and has been followed by others as well for its noble means, ideation and inclusiveness.

OBITUARIES:

Acclaimed Hindi Author Namvar Singh Dies At 92.

• Celebrated Hindi author and literary critic Namvar Singh died in the national capital late on Tuesday night. He was 92.

• Mr. Singh breathed his last at 11.51 pm at the All India Institute of Medical Science's Trauma Centre, family sources said.

• Hindi writer, senior journalist, editor and critic Om Thanvi posted about the author's demise on Facebook and said the cremation ceremony of Namvar Singh would take place at the Lodi crematorium on Wednesday afternoon.

• Social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among nations. We uphold the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants.

• We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.

• For the United Nations, the pursuit of social justice for all is at the core of our global mission to promote development and human dignity. The adoption by the International Labor Organization of the Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization is just one recent example of the UN system’s commitment to social justice.

APPOINTMENTS:

Anupama elected Astronomical Society of India president, first.

• Dr.G C Anupama has been elected president of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI), becoming the first woman to head the prime association of professional astronomers in the country.

• She was elected to the post in the ASI Executive Council elections for triennium 2019-22 held last week, according to the Society website.

• Presently the Dean and Senior Professor at the Bengaluru based Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Anupama is in the Indian core team which is part of the international team engaged in establishing the thirty meter telescope (TMT) at cost of over USD 1 billion in USA (Hawaii).

NGO Yuwa won Laureus Sport.

• Yuwa, a Jharkhand-based NGO won the Laureus Sport for Good award.

• The NGO works for the girl empowerment.

• The NGO, founded by Americans Franz Gastler and Rose Thomson Gastler in 2009, runs a football program in rural Jharkhand covering 450 girls.

• A.K. Sharma has been re-appointed as the Director (Finance) of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for a period of 3 months.

• Saudi Arabia became the 73rd nation to sign the International Solar Alliance. ISA was unveiled by PM Narendra Modi and former French President Francois Hollande in 2015.

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने भारत और नामीबिया के चुनाव आयोग (ECN) और चुनाव प्रबंधन एवं प्रशासन के क्षेत्र में सहयोग पर पनामा (ETP) के चुनाव आयोग के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी है।

• एमओयू में मानक लेख/खंड शामिल हैं जो चुनावी प्रबंधन और प्रशासन के क्षेत्र में सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने के साथ-साथ चुनावी प्रक्रिया के संगठनात्मक और तकनीकी विकास के क्षेत्र में ज्ञान और अनुभव के आदान-प्रदान को बढ़ावा देने सहित, सूचनाओं के आदान-प्रदान, संस्थागत मजबूती और क्षमता निर्माण, कर्मियों के प्रशिक्षण, नियमित परामर्श आदि रखने में सहायता करता है।

• एमओयू द्विपक्षीय सहयोग को बढ़ावा देगा, जिसका उद्देश्य नामीबिया के चुनाव आयोग (ईसीएन) के लिए तकनीकी सहायता/क्षमता समर्थन का निर्माण करना और पनामा (ईटीपी) के चुनावी अधिकरण के साथ है। यह चुनावी प्रबंधन और प्रशासन के क्षेत्र में सहयोग की परिकल्पना करता है और इसे अपने-अपने देशों में चुनाव कराने के लिए एक लेग-अप प्रदान करता है। इसके परिणामस्वरूप भारत के अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संबंधों को बढ़ावा मिलेगा।

भारत-ओईसीडी संधि(समझौते) को मंजूरी-

• 28 जनवरी, 2019 को नई दिल्ली में भारत एवं आर्थिक सहयोग एवं विकास संगठन (OECD) के मध्य वर्ष 2021 में आयोजित होने वाले ‘अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र मूल्यांकन कार्यक्रम (PISA) में भारत की भागीदारी हेतु समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।

• वर्ष 2021 में आर्थिक सहयोग और विकास संगठन द्वारा अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र मूल्यांकन कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया जायेगा।

• पीसा (PISA) एक त्रैवार्षिक अंतरराष्ट्रीय सर्वेक्षण है जिसका उद्देश्य 15 वर्ष की आयु के छात्रों के कौशल एवं ज्ञान का परीक्षण करते हुए विश्व भर की शिक्षा प्रणालियों का मूल्यांकन करना है।

सरकारी योजना:

ग्रामीण सौर योजना, कुसुम शुरू करने के लिए केंद्र की मंजूरी-

• ग्रामीण सौर योजना कुसुम की ओर 46,000 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित करने के केंद्र के फैसले का उद्देश्य किसानों को बिजली पैदा करने के लिए उन्नत तकनीक प्रदान करना है। पर्यावरण विशेषज्ञों द्वारा इसका स्वागत किया गया है जिन्होंने 2022 तक देश के 100 मेगावॉट सौर लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करना आवश्यक बताया था।

• आर्थिक मामलों की कैबिनेट समिति ने मंगलवार को किसानों और आवासीय क्षेत्र के बीच सौर ऊर्जा अपनाने को बढ़ावा देने के लिए कुसुम और रूफटॉप सौर योजनाओं के लिए 46,000 करोड़ रुपये की मंजूरी दी है।

• जबकि किसानों के लिए कुसुम योजना को 34,422 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए गए हैं, रूफटॉप सौर कार्यक्रम को 11,814 करोड़ रुपये मिलेंगे।

राष्ट्रीय:

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने नई ग्रामीण आजीविका योजना के कार्यान्वयन को मंजूरी दी।

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने मंगलवार को राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आर्थिक परिवर्तन परियोजना (NRETP) के कार्यान्वयन को मंजूरी दी।

• दीनदयाल अंत्योदय योजना - राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण आजीविका मिशन (DAY-NRLM) के तहत यह परियोजना विश्व बैंक से ऋण सहायता के माध्यम से होगी।

• NRETP द्वारा प्रदान की गई तकनीकी सहायता और परियोजना द्वारा सुगम उच्च स्तरीय हस्तक्षेपों से आजीविका संवर्धन, वित्त तक पहुंच, डिजिटल वित्त और आजीविका हस्तक्षेपों पर स्केल-अप पहलों में वृद्धि होगी।

सरकारी कर्मचारियों के लिए महंगाई भत्ता (डीए), पेंशनरों में 3% की वृद्धि-

• कैबिनेट ने मंगलवार को घोषणा की कि उसने महंगाई भत्ते या डीए में 3 प्रतिशत की बढ़ोतरी को मंजूरी दी है, यह कदम 1 जनवरी, 2019 से एक करोड़ से अधिक केंद्र सरकार के कर्मचारियों और पेंशनरों को लाभान्वित करेगा।

• इस फैसले से सरकारी खजाने पर 9,000 करोड़ रु का खर्च बढ़ेगा।

• महंगाई भत्ता मुद्रास्फीति के प्रभाव का सामना करने के लिए कर्मचारियों को दिए जाने वाले वेतन का एक घटक है।

• 3 फीसदी की बढ़ोतरी पेंशनरों के लिए डीए और महंगाई दर (डीआर) को 12 फीसदी तक ले जाएगी।

वाराणसी में PM ने किया BHU का दौरा: पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय कैंसर अस्पताल का उद्घाटन-

• प्रधान मंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने आज वाराणसी में बीएचयू का दौरा किया।

• उन्होंने पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय कैंसर अस्पताल और होमी भाभा कैंसर अस्पताल लाहतरा का उद्घाटन किया। ये अस्पताल यूपी और आसपास के राज्यों मप्र, छत्तीसगढ़, झारखंड और बिहार के रोगियों को व्यापक उपचार प्रदान करेंगे।

• यूपी के राज्यपाल श्री राम नाईक, यूपी के सीएम श्री योगी आदित्यनाथ, और अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।

ओडिशा के सीएम ने किसानों के बच्चों के लिए कालिया छात्रवृत्ति योजना शुरू की-

• इस छात्रवृत्ति योजना के तहत सरकार कृषक असिस्‍टेंस फॉर लीवलीहुड एंड इनकम अगुमेंटेशन(कालिया) लाभार्थियों के बच्‍चों के शैक्षिक खर्च उठाएगी, जो योग्‍यता के आधार पर व्‍यावसायिक कॉलेजो में पढ रहे है। राज्‍य सरकार किसानो के फायदे के लिए कालिया योजना लागू कर रही है।

• आजीविका और आय संवर्धन (कलिया) के लिए कृषक सहायता के माध्यम से ओडिशा राज्य के किसानों के आर्थिक मानकों को बदलने की दिशा में ऐतिहासिक कदम उठाने के बाद, राज्य सरकार किसान परिवारों के बीच मानव संसाधन सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कालिया छात्रवृत्ति योजना लाई है।

• कालिया योजना भारत में किसानों के लिए अपनी तरह का पहला सहायता तंत्र है और दूसरों के साथ-साथ इसके महान साधनों, आदर्श और समावेश के लिए भी अनुसरण किया गया है।

• हिंदी लेखक और साहित्यकार आलोचक नामवर सिंह का मंगलवार देर रात राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में निधन हो गया, वह 92 वर्ष के थे।

• पारिवारिक सूत्रों के अनुसार श्री सिंह ने अखिल भारतीय आयुविज्ञान संस्थान ट्रॉमा सेंटर में रात 11.51 बजे अंतिम सांस ली।

• हिंदी लेखक, वरिष्ठ पत्रकार, संपादक और आलोचक ओम थानवी ने लेखक के निधन के बारे में फेसबुक पर पोस्ट किया और कहा कि नामवर सिंह का दाह संस्कार बुधवार दोपहर लोदी श्मशान में होगा।

• झारखंड की एक एनजीओ युवा ने लॉरियस स्पोर्ट फॉर गुड अवार्ड जीता।

• एनजीओ बालिका सशक्तीकरण के लिए काम करता है।

• लड़कियों के सशक्तिकरण से जुड़े झारखंड स्थित स्वयंसेवी संस्था युवा को रविवार को यहां 'लॉरस स्पोर्ट्स फोर गुड' पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया। अमेरिका के फ्रैंक गास्टलर और रोज थामसन गास्टलर ने 2009 में इस संस्था की स्थापना की थी जो झारखंड के ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में फुटबॉल कार्यक्रम का संचालन करती है और इससे 450 लड़कियां जुड़ी हुई हैं। लड़कियां एमेच्योर हैं और जो लंबे समय से संस्था से जुड़ी हैं उन्हें कोच बना दिया गया है।

AWARDS AND HONORS:

President Kovind presents Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony.

• President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday said each region in the country has a distinct cultural identity but this does not divide but unites and harmonizes all of India.

• President made the statement after presenting the Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony here on Monday. He remarked that the award is a celebration of Indian tradition of culture.

• Remembering Rabindranath Tagore, President Kovind said, "Gurudev was a remarkable genius, who became the first Indian Nobel laureate. Gurudev Tagore is remembered every day as a poet who gave India its national anthem. He belongs to the entire world as he was a nationalist as well as an internationalist."

Sudanese refugee wins major human rights award.

• Sudanese refugee, Abdul Aziz Muhamat, who spent 5 years in the Australian detention center on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea, was given the Martin Ennals Award 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland, for exposing “the very cruel asylum seeker policy of the Australian Government”.

• It is sometimes referred to as the “Nobel Prize for human rights”. Abdul Aziz Muhamat’s podcast “The Messenger”, created from more than 4,000 WhatsApp messages Muhamat sent from the detention center, had won best radio/audio feature at Australia’s Walkley Awards in 2017.

Sunil Chhetri receives 'Football Ratna' award.

•Talismanic Indian striker Sunil Chhetri was awarded the first-ever ‘Football Ratna’ by Football Delhi, the State Association governing the sport in Delhi. Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, President, Delhi Football presented the honor a function at the majestic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

• Chhetri, who was recently named as the 6th Indian Footballer in the elite Padma Shri list, said: “I am honored by the kind gesture of Football Delhi for recognizing me with the Football Ratna award.”

•“My support will always be there for the development of football in Delhi. I am sure the current management is working hard to develop football, and make Delhi a model football state in India. My best wishes to everyone associated with the sport in Delhi,” he added.

Infosys launches InfyTQ app for engineering students.

• Infosys has announced the launch of a digital platform offering learning and engagement experiences for engineering students.

•“InfyTQ is a free platform open to all engineering students in their third and fourth year. The platform encourages holistic development by imparting technical as well as professional skills and helps them become industry ready,” said a statement from Infosys.

• InfyTQ will be available on both mobile and desktop and is equipped with a plethora of content, courses and news to establish talent readiness at an industry level through online assessments and certification.

During his Jharkhand visit, PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate several development projects.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for hospitals in Hazaribagh, Dumka and Palamau in Jharkhand on Sunday and inaugurate a host of development schemes during his visit to the state, an official statement said.

• The prime minister will lay the foundation stone online for four 500-bedded hospitals in Hazaribagh, Dumka, Palamau and Jamshedpur.

• This apart, he will lay foundation stone for Hazaribagh urban line water supply scheme and rural drinking water supply - four schemes for Hazaribagh and two for Ramgarh.

Banned Punjabi Poem On Jallianwala Massacre To Be Published In English After 99 Years.

• A poem on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre by acclaimed Punjabi writer Nanak Singh, which was banned by the British after its publication in 1920, has now been translated into English.

• Singh was present at Jallianwala Bagh on April 13, 1919. He was 22 years old at the time.

• The name of the poem is ‘Khooni Vaisakhi'

Vidarbha won Irani Cup.

• Vidarbha defended its Irani Cup title on 16 Feb 2019 at the Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur.

• The Irani Cup tournament was conceived during the 1959-60 season to mark the completion of 25 years of the Ranji Trophy championship.

National Championship: Saina Nehwal beats PV Sindhu to clinch second successive title.

• Saina Nehwal defeated PV Sindhu for the second year running as she claimed the senior national title in women's singles once again with a 21-18, 21-15 win in Guwahati on Saturday.

• Saina had defeated Sindhu in the final in the previous edition of the nationals in November 2017 and the two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist was at it again.

Qatar Open: Elise Mertens beats Simona Halep to win her biggest tour title.

• Elise Mertens has claimed the biggest title of her career by beating top seed Simona Halep to win the Qatar Open.

• Mertens, 23, recovered from a set and a break down - losing 18 points in a row at one stage in the second set - to beat the world number three 3-6 6-4 6-3.

• World number 21 Mertens also overcame a lengthy medical time-out for a back issue in the first set.

JP Morgan: first to create crypto currency.

• US investment bank, JP Morgan Chase became the first US bank to offer its own crypto currency.

• राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने सोमवार को कहा कि देश के प्रत्येक क्षेत्र की एक अलग सांस्कृतिक पहचान है, लेकिन यह विभाजित नहीं है, बल्कि भारत के सभी लोगों को एकजुट करता है और उन्हें एकजुट करता है।

• भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक ने एक इकाई के कॉर्पोरेट बॉन्ड में FPI द्वारा निवेश पर 20% की सीमा वापस ली।

• यह अप्रैल 2018 में निर्धारित किया गया था कि किसी भी एफपीआई को अपने कॉरपोरेट बॉन्ड पोर्टफोलियो के 20% से अधिक का निवेश एक कॉरपोरेट के पास नहीं होना चाहिए।

• यह अधिक विदेशी निवेश को प्रोत्साहित करने के उद्देश्य से किया गया है।

National Banana Festival 2018 to be held in Kerala from 17 to 21 Feb.

•Thiruvananthapuram is going to host National Banana Festival 2018 on February 17. It will be a five-day event to be held at Vellayani Dei Temple grounds at Kalliyoor. This festival will be inaugurated by Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

•The main draw of this fest will be the 100 varieties of banana, which will be on display. Around 200 stalls will be set up to showcase these banana varieties. And mainly for this fest, all varieties of banana have been sourced from Kerala and various parts of India. Also, special value-added items for consumption, especially prepared from this fruit, will be there in this exhibition.

•Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will be inaugurating this exhibition in National Banana Festival 2018 in Kerala, whereas MP Suresh Gopi will be presiding over the inaugural function.

Kerala Govt to geotag 10 lakh livestock farmer houses.

•Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 18 (PTI) the Kerala government is gearing up to geotag the houses and farms of over 10 lakh livestock and poultry farmers in the state as part of its massive digitisation drive.

•The objective is to compile a comprehensive digital repository of the information of animal husbandry and dairying in the state and integrate the data using the Geographical Information System (GIS), official sources said. The state Animal Husbandry Department has a database of over eight lakh farmers and houses and farms of over 60,000 of them have already been geotagged under the ambitious initiative.

•It also plans to make the functioning of the Department paperless in the next 6-7 months as part of the digitisation drive, for which 23 mobile applications will be developed, official sources said. Besides the data of the houses and farms, the status of domestic animals and birds, the information of veterinary hospitals and related offices would also be linked through the GIS technology.

Iran President Lands in Delhi.

• Iran President Hassan Rouhani has entered the second day of his three day visit to India.

• Mr. Rouhani reached Hyderabad yesterday and is set to visit a number of tourist landmarks, including Hyderabad's Qutub Shahi tombs, the Salar Jung Museum, Golconda Fort as well as Mecca Masjid.

• He is also set to address a Muslim congregation at the Mecca Masjid, after he performs his Friday prayers. This is Mr. Rouhani's second visit to Hyderabad and his first after he assumed charge as Iran's president.

Assam govt to set up 3 Terminal Mart for agricultural products.

• Assam State Government will be setting up 3 Terminal Mart for agricultural products in the state in order to give a boost to agricultural market in the state.

• Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board is working towards setting up such marts at Silchar, Jorhat and Guwahati.

• Chairman of State Agricultural Marketing Board, Palit Kumar Bora has stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to develop Asia’s largest banana market at Darangiri in Goalpara district of Assam.

• Besides, 6 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras are being set up in Assam to help the farmers in various agro-based sectors

PM Modi lays foundation stone of Navi Mumbai airport, phase I to be ready in 4 years.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the long overdue airport project at Navi Mumbai on Sunday. PM Modi said, "Issue of Navi Mumbai airport has been pending for years. And, this is not the only project that is pending.

• Estimated cost for constructing this airport is Rs 16700 crore. It will have two parallel runways unlike Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, which has only one runway.

Fiji signs Declaration of Partnership with TERI.

• Island nation Fiji today signed a declaration of partnership with India's The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) for assistance in tackling climate change effects and achieving environmental sustainability.

• The declaration was made on sidelines of the ongoing World Sustainable Development Conference (WSDS 2018) here.

• It was signed by Joshua Wycliff, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Housing and Environment of Fiji and Ajay Mathur, the Director General of TERI.

Amazon overtakes Microsoft as the 3RD most valuable company in the world.

•Tech giant Amazon has overtaken Microsoft to become the world’s most valuable listed company. The online giant was valued at $810 billion as compared to Microsoft at $789 billion.

• It is the first time Amazon - founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 - has gained the top position in the listed market. The change happened on Monday as shares of the online retail giant rose by 3 percent, increasing its market value to $797 billion.

• Microsoft’s stock to rose but only by 2%, leaving the value at $789 billion by the end of the trade.

• He will serve as the vice-chancellor for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.

राष्‍ट्रीय केला महोत्‍सव 2018: (17-21) फरवरी केरल में आयोजित-

• तिरुवनंतपुरम 17 फरवरी को राष्ट्रीय केले महोत्सव 2018 की मेजबानी करने जा रहा है। यह कलियूर के वेल्लयानी देई मंदिर मैदान में आयोजित होने वाला पांच दिवसीय कार्यक्रम होगा। इस महोत्सव का उद्घाटन केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री राधा मोहन सिंह करेंगे।

• इस उत्सव का मुख्य आकर्षण केले की 100 किस्में होंगी, जो प्रदर्शित की जाएंगी, इन केलो की किस्मों को प्रदर्शित करने के लिए लगभग 200 स्टाल लगाए जाएंगे और मुख्य रूप से इस महोत्‍सव के लिए, केले की सभी किस्मों को केरल और भारत के विभिन्न हिस्सों से इकट्टठा किया गया है। इसके अलावा, विशेष रूप से इस फल से तैयार खपत के लिए विशेष मूल्य वर्धित वस्तुएं इस प्रदर्शनी में होंगी।

• पर्यटन मंत्री कडकम्पल्ली सुरेंद्रन केरल में राष्ट्रीय केले महोत्सव 2018 में इस प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन करेंगे, जबकि सांसद सुरेश गोपी उद्घाटन समारोह की अध्यक्षता करेंगे।

दस लाख पशुधन किसानों के मकान और फार्म को जियोटैग करेगी केरल सरकार-

• तिरुवनंतपुरम, 18 फरवरी (पीटीआई) केरल सरकार राज्य में 10 लाख से अधिक पशुधन और कुक्कुट किसानों के घरों और खेतों को जियोटैग करने के लिए तैयार कर रही है।

• आधिकारिक सूत्रों के अनुसार इसका उद्देश्य राज्य में पशुपालन और डेयरी की जानकारी के व्यापक डिजिटल भंडार को संकलित करना एवं भौगोलिक सूचना प्रणाली (जीआईएस) का उपयोग करते हुए डेटा को एकीकृत करना है। राज्य पशुपालन विभाग के पास आठ लाख से अधिक किसानों और घरों के डेटाबेस हैं, उनमें से 60,000 से अधिक खेतों को पहले से ही महत्वाकांक्षी पहल के तहत जियोटैग किया गया है।

• आधिकारिक सूत्रों के अनुसार यह अगले 6-7 महीनों में विभाग के कामकाज को डिजिटलीकरण अभियान का हिस्सा बनाने की योजना बना रहा है, जिसके लिए 23 मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन विकसित किए जाएंगे। घरों और खेतों के आंकड़ों के अलावा, घरेलू पशुओं और पक्षियों की स्थिति, पशु चिकित्सा अस्पतालों और संबंधित कार्यालयों की जानकारी को भी जीआईएस तकनीक के माध्यम से जोड़ा जाएगा।

दिल्‍ली में ईरान के राष्‍ट्रपति-

• ईरान के राष्ट्रपति इसन रूहानी आज से तीन दिवसीय भारत दौरे पर।

• श्री रूहानी कल हैदराबाद पहुंचे और हैदराबाद के कुतुब शाही मकबरों, सालार जंग संग्रहालय, गोलकोंडा किले और साथ ही मक्का मस्जिद सहित कई पर्यटन स्थलों की यात्रा की।

असम सरकार ने कृषि उत्पादों के लिए 3 टर्मिनल मार्ट की स्थापना की-

• असम राज्य सरकार, राज्य में कृषि बाजार को बढ़ावा देने के लिए राज्य में कृषि उत्पादों के लिए 3 टर्मिनल मार्ट की स्थापना करेगी।

• असम राज्य कृषि विपणन बोर्ड सिलचर, जोरहाट और गुवाहाटी में इस तरह के मंडी(बाजार)को स्थापित करने की दिशा में काम कर रहा है।

• राज्य कृषि विपणन बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष, पालित कुमार बोरा ने कहा है कि असम के गोलपारा जिले में दारागिरी में एशिया के सबसे बड़े केले के बाजार को विकसित करने के लिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं।

• इसके अलावा, विभिन्न कृषि आधारित क्षेत्रों में किसानों की सहायता के लिए असम में 6 नए कृषि विज्ञान केंद्र स्थापित किए जा रहे हैं

प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने नवी मुंबई एयरपोर्ट का शिलान्यास किया, प्रथम चरण 4 साल में तैयार होगा-

• प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने रविवार को नवी मुंबई में लंबे समय से चली आ रही हवाई अड्डा परियोजना की आधारशिला रखी। प्रधान मंत्री मोदी ने कहा, "नवी मुंबई हवाई अड्डे का मुद्दा वर्षों से लंबित है और, यह एकमात्र परियोजना नहीं है जो लंबित है।

• इस हवाई अड्डे के निर्माण के लिए अनुमानित लागत 16700 करोड़ रुपये है। इसमें छत्रपति शिवाजी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे के विपरीत दो समानांतर रनवे होंगे, जिसमें केवल एक रनवे है।

फिजी ने टीईआरआई के साथ साझेदारी की घोषणा की-

• द्वीप राष्ट्र फिजी ने जलवायु परिवर्तन प्रभावों से निपटने और पर्यावरणीय स्थिरता प्राप्त करने में सहायता के लिए भारत के ऊर्जा और संसाधन संस्थान (टीईआरआई) के साथ साझेदारी की घोषणा पर आज हस्ताक्षर किए।

• घोषणा यहाँ चल रहे विश्व सतत विकास सम्मेलन (WSDS 2018) की तर्ज पर की गई थी।

• The decision was taken during the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting held in New Delhi.

• India had granted the status to Pakistan in 1996, a year after WTO’s formation.

PM Modi on 2-day visit to South Korea.

• PM Narendra Modi will pay a 2-day visit to South Korea from February 21 2019.

• He will be conferred with the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize on February 22, in recognition of his national and international contributions.

• He will also hold talks with President Moon Jae-in on a host of issues to strengthen strategic ties.

App launched PMAY (U).

• Hardeep S Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs launched the PMAY (U) Mobile App on 14 Feb 2019.

• The app will allow beneficiaries to capture and upload high-resolution photographs of completed houses along with their families.

• The PMAY (U) mission was launched on 25th June 2015 with an aim to provide houses to every eligible urban household in India by the year 2022.

PM-SYM scheme implemented.

• Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM).

• Scheme was implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on 15 Feb 2019.

• The features of the scheme are family pension and minimum assured pension.

• The unorganized workers whose monthly income is Rs 15,000/per month or less and belong to the entry age group of 18-40 years are eligible for the scheme.

• Each subscriber under the PM-SYM shall receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3000/- per month after attaining the age of 60 years.

• During the receipt of pension, if the subscriber dies, the spouse of the beneficiary shall be entitled to receive 50% of the pension received by the beneficiary as family pension. Family pension is applicable only to spouse.

Pulwama Attack: MIB issues advisory to all private satellite TV Channels

• The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has issued an advisory to all private satellite TV Channels in view of the terrorist attack in Pulwama District.

• The Ministry in its advisory said that all channels are advised to be particularly cautious with regard to any content which is likely to incite violence or contains anything against maintenance of law and order or which promotes anti-national attitude or contains anything affecting the integrity of the nation.

• The Ministry asked them to ensure that no such content is telecast which is violative of programme and advertising code as prescribed in the Cable Television Networks Regulation Act.

Chandigarh woman becomes IAF's 1st female Flight Engineer

• The Indian Air Force (IAF) inducted flight lieutenant Hina Jaiswal as its first woman Flight Engineer on Friday. Jaiswal, who hails from Chandigarh, studied engineering at Punjab University.

• As a Flight Engineer, Hina will be posted to operational helicopter units of the IAF and routinely called to operate in demanding and stressful conditions.

Train 18 launch despite attack befitting reply to terrorists: Goyal

• Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has said that going ahead with the inauguration of India's fastest train, Vande Bharat Express (Train 18), was a befitting reply to the terrorists who perpetrated the Pulwama attacks.

• He added the decision to continue with the flagging off programme was inspired by the way Mumbai reacted by showing their resilience following the 26/11 attacks.

Security forces given full freedom to take action: PM on J&K attack

• In light of the terror attack on CRPF jawans in J&K's Pulwama on Thursday, PM Narendra Modi said, "Our security forces have been given full freedom.

• We have full faith in their bravery." Thanking all the nations who condemned the attack and showed support to India, PM Modi said, "A strong reply will be given to this attack.

SC asks EC to be flexible in applying 3 years domicile for defence personnel

• The Supreme Court of India has asked the Election Commission to be flexible in applying three-year domicile for defence personnel.

• The apex court noted that though people in services are posted at peace place for three years, there is occasion when they are transferred in two-and-half years.

• A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said it will be open for the Election Commission to prescribe further flexible eligibility criteria to ensure that defence personnel are able to vote.

• The bench said, there was no need to pass any further order. It noted that the Election Commission has taken a decision to allow armed forces personnel to vote at their place of posting which excludes Jammu and Kashmir and Northeastern states.

Trump to sign spending bill averting government shutdown

• President Donald Trump has decided to sign a spending bill averting a government shutdown but will also issue an emergency declaration to fund his controversial border wall.

• Declaring an emergency, a rare step, would free Trump to seek to redirect federal funds from elsewhere to help pay for a wall along the US-Mexico border.

• US House of Representative Speaker and Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi expressed disdain for the President's upcoming emergency declaration. She stated that the happening at the border is not an emergency.

William Barr sworn in as US Attorney General

• William Barr was sworn in for second time as the new Attorney General of United States, taking the helm of the Justice Department as special counsel Robert Mueller investigates Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

• Earlier, the Senate voted 54-45 to confirm his appointment. Barr, who also served as the Attorney General from 1991 to 1993 during President George HW Bush’s administration, succeeds Jeff Sessions.

• As the country’s chief law enforcement officer, Barr will oversee the remaining work in Mueller’s investigation into potential coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign and decide how much Congress and the public know about its conclusion.

NASA declares Mars rover Opportunity officially dead

• NASA’s Mars rover Opportunity was officially declared dead on February 13, 2019, after having contributed almost 15 years of grand services.

• The declaration came after the long wait of eight months after the robot stopped responding to engineers back on earth after the dust storm hit the red planet.

• Setting off for Mars on the night of July 7, 2003, the golf-cart-sized robot has covered the distance of 28 miles since it has landed on the surface on January 25, 2004.

• After landing the rover, towards its journey to Endurance Crater, started searching intensively for bedrock and sand dunes.

• In an attempt to get a clue of water in its distant past, the rover studied the Victoria crater between the period of two years (2006 to 2008) and discovered how water had entered and left the region billions of years ago.

BUSINESS:

IndiGo to curtail 30 daily flights in February

• The country's largest airline IndiGo announced curtailing around 30 flights daily for the rest of February as it looks to stabilize operations and adjust crew rosters.

• IndiGo, which has more than 41 per cent of domestic market share, said the cancellations represent 2 per cent of its flights and that operation would be normalised completely by March 31, 2019.

• The budget carrier cancelled 49 flights on February 13 and the same has been informed to aviation regulator DGCA. The cancellations were reportedly caused by several factors like anticipated weather conditions and NOTAMS at various airports.

• This resulted in extended duty times which then made it necessary to re-roster the crew and optimise the operations. Therefore, the airlines has decided to curtail its schedule for the remaining period of this month by approximately 30 flights a day.

Appointments

Ashwani Lohani, a retired bureaucrat, was appointed the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of National carrier Air India, on 13 Feb 2019.

• This will be his second tenure.

• In August 2017, he was named the Chairman to the Railway Board and retired on December 31, 2018.

पुलवामा हमला : निजी समाचार चैनल बरतें संयम, सरकार ने जारी की एडवायजरी

• सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्रालय ने पुलवामा जिले में आतंकवादी हमले के मद्देनजर सभी निजी उपग्रह टीवी चैनलों को एक सलाह जारी की है।

• सूचना प्रसारण मंत्रालय ने निजी समाचार चैनलों को एडवायजरी जारी कर कहा है कि वह केबुल टेलीविजन रेगुलेशन एक्ट का गंभीरता से पालन करें। पुलवामा में हुए आतंकी हमले से संदर्भ में कहा गया है कि कोई भी चैनल ऐसी रिपोर्ट के प्रसारण में संयम बरतें जिससे हिंसा फैलने या कानून व्यवस्था में व्यवधान पहुंचने की थोड़ी भी आशंका हो। एडवायजरी में कहा गया है कि ऐसी रिपोर्ट का प्रसारण ना हो जिसमें सुरक्षा तंत्र की गरिमा और राष्ट्रियता पर उंगली उठाई जाए। मंत्रालय ने चेताया है कि ऐसा कोई भी कदम इससे संबंधित कानून का उल्लंघन माना जाएगा।

• मंत्रालय ने उन्हें यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कहा कि ऐसी कोई भी प्रकरण टेलीकास्ट न हो जो केबल टेलीविजन नेटवर्क विनियमन अधिनियम में निर्धारित कार्यक्रम और विज्ञापन संहिता का उल्लंघन है।

पुलवामा हमले के बावजूद ट्रेन 18 लॉन्च आतंकवादियों को करारा जवाब: गोयल

• रेल मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा है कि भारत की सबसे तेज़ ट्रेन वंदे भारत एक्सप्रेस (ट्रेन 18) के उद्घाटन के साथ आगे बढ़ना, उन आतंकवादियों को करारा जवाब देना था, जिन्होंने पुलवामा हमलों को जिन्होंने पुलवामा हमलों की साजिश रची थी।

• उन्होंने कहा कि कार्यक्रम जारी रखते हुए इस ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाने का फैसला फिर से उठ खड़े होने के उसी जज्बे से प्रेरित है जो 26/11 हमलों के बाद मुंबई ने दिखाया था।

सुरक्षा बलों को कार्रवाई करने की पूरी आजादी दी: जम्मू-कश्मीर हमले पर पीएम

• गुरुवार को जम्मू-कश्मीर के पुलवामा में सीआरपीएफ जवानों पर आतंकी हमले के मद्देनजर पीएम नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा, 'हमारे सुरक्षा बलों को पूरी आजादी दी गई है।

चंडीगढ़ की महिला IAF की पहली महिला फ्लाइट इंजीनियर बनी

• भारतीय वायु सेना (IAF) ने शुक्रवार को उड़ान लेफ्टिनेंट हिना जायसवाल को अपनी पहली महिला फ्लाइट इंजीनियर के रूप में शामिल किया। चंडीगढ़ के रहने वाले जयसवाल ने पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी में इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई की।

• एक फ्लाइट इंजीनियर के रूप में, हिना को भारतीय वायुसेना के परिचालन हेलीकॉप्टर इकाइयों में तैनात किया जाएगा और नियमित रूप से मांग और तनावपूर्ण परिस्थितियों में काम करने के लिए कहा जाएगा।

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग से रक्षा कर्मियों के लिए 3 साल के अधिवास को लागू करने में लचीला होने के लिए कहा-

• रक्षा कर्मियों को मतदान करने में सक्षम बनाने के लिए आयोग और अधिक लचीली पात्रता मानदंड निर्धारित करता है।

• पीठ ने कहा, आगे कोई आदेश पारित करने की आवश्यकता नहीं थी। इसने उल्लेख किया कि चुनाव आयोग ने सशस्त्र बल के जवानों को उनके स्थान पर मतदान करने की अनुमति देने का निर्णय लिया है जो जम्मू और कश्मीर एवं पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों को बाहर करता है।

AYUSH Minister launches e-AUSHADHI portal
• Minister of State for AYUSH, Shripad Yesso Naik on February 13, 2019 launched the e-AUSHADHI portal, for online licensing of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy drugs and related matters at New Delhi.
• The portal aims to increase transparency, improve information management facility, improve data usability and increase accountability.
• Timelines will be fixed for processing of application through this portal with SMS and e-mail status updates at each step of the process.
• e-AUSHADHI is an acronym for Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy Automated Drug Help Initiative.

CBDT Chairman Sushil Chandra appointed as Election Commissioner
•   Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Sushil Chandra has been appointed the third Election Commissioner, completing the team that will oversee 2019 Lok Sabha polls due in April-May.
•   The three-member body now comprises Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and Election Commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Chandra.
•   An IIT graduate, Chandra is a 1980 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service

Bihar Government announces universal old age pension scheme-Mukhyamantri Vridhajan Pension Yojna
• The state government of Bihar has announced a universal old age pension scheme called Mukhyamantri Vridhajan Pension Yojna (MVPY) for all people above 60 years of age.
• The scheme will come into force from April 1, 2019. Except those senior citizens who have retired from government service, all will be eligible for 400 rupees monthly pension irrespective of caste, religion or community.
• The currently old age pension scheme is applicable to only the BPL category.
• Besides this, the state’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a pension of Rs 6,000 for journalists above 60 years of age.

Airbus to stop producing world's largest passenger jet A380
• European planemaker Airbus has announced it will make its last deliveries of its A380 jet, the world's largest commercial passenger plane, in 2021.
• The decision comes after Emirates, the largest customer of the A380, reduced an outstanding order for 53 planes to only 14. The cancellation will affect the jobs of as many as 3,500 Airbus staff

Google to invest $13 billion in US in 2019: CEO Pichai
• Google aims to invest $13 billion in offices and data centres in the US in 2019, CEO Sundar Pichai revealed.
• This will enable Google to hire "tens of thousands of employees" alongside creation of over 10,000 construction jobs, Pichai said. "2019 marks the second year in a row we’ll grow faster outside of Bay Area than in it", he added

Egypt's Parliament to vote on extending president's term
• Egypt's Parliament has begun deliberations over constitutional amendments that could allow President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi to stay in office till 2034.
• The amendments will provide Sissi with 12 more years after his current, second term expires in 2022.
• The 596-seat Egyptian assembly has already given its preliminary approval to the changes last week.
• The amendments are near certain to be overwhelmingly approved by the legislature, packed with el-Sissi's supporters, but will also need to be put to a national referendum to become law.

Cuba warns of possible US military intervention in Venezuela
• Cuba has warned of possible US military intervention in Venezuela under the humanitarian pretext and called for international efforts to avoid the scenario.
• A Cuba government statement issued on February 13, 2019 stated that the US intends to create a humanitarian pretext to initiate military aggression against Venezuela.
• The statement read that US military aircraft had transported troops between February 6 and 10, involving US military bases in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean islands without the consent of local governments.

ICJ rules that it has jurisdiction to hear Iranian claim against US over frozen assets
• The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled that it has the jurisdiction to hear part of a case brought by Iran against the US, to unfreeze Iranian assets of nearly 2 billion dollars held in the US.
• The ruling opens the way for the court to hear Iran's case on its merits. Iran filed the case in 2016, based on the 1955 Treaty of Amity between the two nations, from which the US unilaterally withdrew last year.
• The case revolves around assets seized from the Iranian national bank, Bank Markazi, which were taken by the US to compensate victims of a 1983 suicide bombing of a Marine Corps base in Beirut, Lebanon.
• Iran denies involvement in the attack which killed more than 300 and injured many more, most of whom being US military personnel.

Australia government loses bill blocking sick asylum seekers
• Australian legislators have passed a landmark bill making it easier for asylum seekers, being held on remote Pacific islands, to get medical treatment in the country.
• This is the first time in decades the government has lost a vote on its own legislation in the lower house as the bill was passed with an opposition amendment.
• The bill is expected to sail through the upper Senate later this week after which it will become a law.
• Prime Minister Scott Morrison had strongly opposed the legislation. He said there is no form of the bill that does not weaken Australia's border protection.
• Under Australia’s offshore detention policy, asylum seekers arriving by boat are sent to detention centres on Nauru and Papua New Guinea.

Prajnesh Gunneswaran breaks into men's singles top 100
• India’s Prajnesh Gunneswaran has made it to the top-100 of Men's Singles Tennis rankings with a jump of six places that took him to 97.
• With the feat, Gunneswaran has become the third Indian player to break into the top-100 barrier in the past decade after Somdev Devvarman and Yuki Bhambri.
• He reached the semifinals of the ATP Chennai Challenger last week to ensure his entry into the coveted bracket. If he is able to maintain his rank inside top-100, it will secure him entry into Grand Slam singles main draws.
• In the doubles, Rohan Bopanna stayed put at 37 and was followed by his partner Divij Sharan at 39.

Govt may relax FDI norms for single-brand retailers: Report
•   The Cabinet is reportedly considering a proposal to relax mandatory 30% local sourcing norms for foreign single-brand retailers.
•   As per existing FDI norms, 100% foreign investment is permitted but with 30% of the value of the goods sourced from the country.
•   The proposal also suggests that retailers may sell online before opening a physical store if they invest $200 million

Town with Google, FB billionaires US richest with 3.2cr avg income
• Silicon Valley suburb Atherton, home to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, is America's richest community for the third year in a row, according to Bloomberg Richest Places annual index.
• Atherton's household income averaged $450,696 (₹3.2 crore as of now) in 2017. Stanford University and Google and Facebook headquarters are a short drive away from Atherton.

आयुष मंत्री ने ई-आयुषी पोर्टल लॉन्च किया
• आयुष राज्य मंत्री, श्रीपद येसो नाइक ने 13 फरवरी, 2019 को नई दिल्ली में आयुर्वेद, सिद्ध, यूनानी और होम्योपैथी दवाओं और संबंधित मामलों के ऑनलाइन लाइसेंस के लिए ई-आयुष पोर्टल की शुरुआत की।
• पोर्टल का उद्देश्य पारदर्शिता को बढ़ाना, सूचना प्रबंधन सुविधा में सुधार करना, डेटा उपयोगिता में सुधार करना और जवाबदेही बढ़ाना है।
• प्रक्रिया के प्रत्येक चरण पर एसएमएस और ई-मेल स्टेटस अपडेट के साथ इस पोर्टल के माध्यम से आवेदन के प्रसंस्करण के लिए समय-सीमा तय की जाएगी।
• ई- औषधि आयुर्वेद, यूनानी, सिद्ध और होम्योपैथी स्वचालित दवा सहायता के लिए एक संक्षिप्त पहल है।

CBDT के अध्यक्ष सुशील चंद्रा को चुनाव आयुक्त के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया

• केंद्रीय प्रत्यक्ष कर बोर्ड (CBDT) के अध्यक्ष सुशील चंद्र को तीसरे चुनाव आयुक्त के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है, जो अप्रैल-मई में 2019 के लोकसभा चुनावों की देखरेख करने वाली टीम को पूर्ण से संभालेंगे।

बिहार सरकार ने सार्वभौमिक वृद्धावस्था पेंशन योजना -मुख्यमन्त्री वृद्धजन पेंशन योजना की घोषणा की।

• बिहार की राज्य सरकार ने 60 वर्ष से अधिक आयु के सभी लोगों के लिए मुख्यमंत्री वृद्धजन पेंशन योजना (एमवीपीवाई) नामक एक सार्वभौमिक वृद्धावस्था पेंशन योजना की घोषणा की है।
• यह योजना 1 अप्रैल, 2019 से लागू होगी। उन वरिष्ठ नागरिकों को छोड़कर, जो सरकारी सेवा से सेवानिवृत्त हो चुके हैं, सभी जाति, धर्म या समुदाय के बावजूद 400 रुपये मासिक पेंशन के लिए पात्र होंगे।

• वर्तमान में वृद्धावस्था पेंशन योजना केवल बीपीएल श्रेणी के लिए लागू है।
• इसके अलावा, राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने 60 वर्ष से अधिक आयु के पत्रकारों के लिए 6,000 रुपये की पेंशन की घोषणा की।

विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े यात्री जेट A380 का उत्पादन बंद करने की राह पर एयरबस

• यूरोपीय योजना निर्माता एयरबस ने घोषणा की है कि वह 2021 में अपने A380 जेट, विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े वाणिज्यिक यात्री विमान की आखिरी डिलीवरी करेगा।

• एमिरेट्स इसकी सबसे बड़ी ग्राहक है। उसके पास करीब 110 ए380 विमान हैं। उसने 53 विमानों के ऑर्डर दे रखे थे, लेकिन कुछ दिन पहले उसने ऑर्डर संख्या घटाकर 14 कर दी। इसी के बाद एयरबस ने यह निर्णय लिया। एयरबस के सीईओ टॉम एंडर्स ने कहा, ‘यह फैसला पीड़ादायक है। हमने इसमें काफी निवेश किया था। लेकिन हमें भी हकीकत को समझना होगा।’ उत्पादन बंद होने से एयरबस में 3,000-3,500 लोगों की नौकरी जा सकती है।

• सीईओ सुंदर पिचाई ने खुलासा किया कि Google का लक्ष्य 2019 में अमेरिका में कार्यालयों और डेटा केंद्रों में $ 13 बिलियन का निवेश करना है।

• पिचाई ने कहा कि इससे Google को 10,000 से अधिक निर्माण नौकरियों के सृजन के साथ-साथ "हजारों कर्मचारियों की संख्या" रखने में भी मदद मिलेगी। उन्होंने कहा, वर्ष "2019 में – हम दूसरे खाड़ी क्षेत्र के मुकाबले तेजी से बढ़ रहे हैं।

राष्ट्रपति का कार्यकाल बढाने के विषय पर मिस्र की संसद में होगा मतदान
• मिस्र की संसद ने संवैधानिक संशोधनों पर विचार-विमर्श शुरू कर दिया है, जो राष्ट्रपति अब्देल-फतह अल-सिसी को 2034 तक पद पर बने रहने की अनुमति दे सकता हैं।
• उनका वर्तमान कार्यकाल 2022 को समाप्‍त हो रहा है, संसोधन सिस्‍सी को 12 और वर्ष की कार्यकाल की अवधी प्रदान करेगा।
• 596 सीटों वाली मिस्र की विधानसभा ने पिछले सप्ताह हुए परिवर्तनों को अपनी प्रारंभिक स्वीकृति दे दी है।
• संशोधन विधायिका द्वारा अनुमोदित होने के करीब हैं, जो एल-सिसी समर्थकों के साथ पैक किया गया है, लेकिन कानून बनने के लिए इसे राष्ट्रीय जनमत संग्रह में शामिल करने की आवश्यकता होगी।

क्यूबा ने वेनेजुएला में संभावित अमेरिकी सैन्य हस्तक्षेप की चेतावनी दी-

• क्यूबा ने मानवीय योजना के तहत वेनेजुएला में संभावित अमेरिकी सैन्य हस्तक्षेप की चेतावनी दी है और परिदृश्य से बचने के लिए अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रयासों का आह्वान किया है।
• 13 फरवरी, 2019 को जारी क्यूबा सरकार के एक बयान में कहा गया है कि अमेरिका का इरादा वेनेज़ुएला के खिलाफ सैन्य आक्रमण शुरू करने के लिए एक मानवीय योजना बनाने का है।

• बयान में कहा गया है कि अमेरिकी सैन्य विमानों ने 6 से 10 फरवरी के बीच सैनिकों का परिवहन किया था, जिसमें स्थानीय सरकारों की सहमति के बिना प्यूर्टो रिको, डोमिनिकन गणराज्य और अन्य कैरिबियाई द्वीपों में अमेरिकी सैन्य ठिकाने शामिल थे।

आईसीजे का नियम है कि जमी संपत्तियों पर अमेरिका के खिलाफ ईरानी दावे को सुनने का अधिकार क्षेत्र -

• इंटरनेशनल कोर्ट ऑफ जस्टिस (ICJ) ने फैसला सुनाया है कि अमेरिका के खिलाफ ईरान द्वारा लाए गए एक मामले का हिस्सा सुनने का अधिकार क्षेत्र है, ताकि अमेरिका में रखी गई करीब 2 बिलियन डॉलर की ईरानी संपत्ति को कुर्क किया जा सके।
• सत्तारूढ़ अदालत ने ईरान के मामले को उसकी खूबियों को सुनने का रास्ता खोल दिया है। ईरान ने 2016 में दोनों देशों के बीच एमिटी की 1955 संधि के आधार पर मामला दर्ज किया था, जिसमें से अमेरिका ने पिछले वर्ष एकतरफा रूप से वापस ले लिया था।

• यह मामला ईरानी राष्ट्रीय बैंक, बैंक मरकजी से जब्त की गई संपत्ति के इर्द-गिर्द घूमता है, जिसे अमेरिका ने लेबनान के बेरुत में एक मरीन कॉर्प्स बेस के 1983 के आत्मघाती बम विस्फोट के पीड़ितों की क्षतिपूर्ति के लिए लिया था।

• ईरान ने हमले में शामिल होने से इनकार किया जिसमें 300 से अधिक लोग मारे गए और कई घायल हुए, जिनमें से अधिकांश अमेरिकी सैन्य कर्मी थे।

ऑस्ट्रेलिया सरकार ने की बीमार शरणार्थी पर रोक लगाने की मांग-
• ऑस्ट्रेलियाई विधायकों ने देश में चिकित्सा उपचार प्राप्त करने के लिए, सुदूर प्रशांत द्वीपों पर आयोजित किए जा रहे शरण चाहने वालों के लिए एक आसान बिल पारित किया है।
• दशकों में यह पहली बार है जब सरकार ने निचले सदन में अपने स्वयं के कानून पर एक वोट खो दिया है क्योंकि विधेयक को एक विपक्षी संशोधन के साथ पारित किया गया था।
• इस सप्ताह के आखिर में ऊपरी सीनेट के माध्यम से इस बिल के आने की उम्मीद है जिसके बाद यह एक कानून बन जाएगा।
• प्रधान मंत्री स्कॉट मॉरिसन ने कानून का कड़ा विरोध किया था। उन्होंने कहा कि इस विधेयक का कोई रूप नहीं है जो ऑस्ट्रेलिया की सीमा सुरक्षा को कमजोर नहीं करता है।

Indian Navy inducts its first Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle
The Indian Navy on Wednesday inducted its first Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) System at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
DSRV is used to rescue crew members stranded in submarines that get disabled. The Indian Navy joins a select group of naval forces in the world that boasts of this niche capability.
The DSRV can be operated at a depth of 650 meters and can hold around 15 people. The Indian Navy in March 2016 had commissioned two DSRVs, the second will deployed at the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam.

President Sheikh Khalifa has called for Emirati women to occupy 50 per cent of the country's Federal National Council after next year's elections.
Currently, there are eight women members — representing 20 per cent of the 40 available seats. Dr Al Qubaisi was also the first woman elected to the FNC in 2006.

भारतीय नौसेना ने बुधवार को मुंबई में नौसेना डॉकयार्ड में अपनी प्रथम डीप जलमग्नता बचाव वाहन (डीएसआरवी) प्रणाली शामिल की थी।
डीएसआरवी का उपयोग उन पनडुब्बियों में फंसे चालक दल को बचाने के लिए किया जाता है जो अक्षम हो जाते हैं। भारतीय नौसेना दुनिया में नौसैनिक बलों के एक समूह में शामिल हो जाती है जो इस विशिष्ट क्षमता का दावा करती है।
डीएसआरवी 650 मीटर की गहराई पर संचालित किया जा सकता है और लगभग 15 लोगों को पकड़ सकता है। मार्च 2016 में भारतीय नौसेना ने दो डीएसआरवी चालू किए थे, दूसरा विशाखापत्तनम में पूर्वी नौसेना कमान में तैनात किया जाएगा।

●   Dhoni, who relinquished the limited-overs captaincy earlier this month, also slammed his 10th ODI century in the second match of the ongoing series against England in Cuttack.
●   Dhoni was on 93 when he pulled Chris Woakes towards deep square leg on the second ball of the 43rd over.
●   But the umpire signaled a dead ball as the ball dropped down after hitting the spider cam.
●   However, the 35-year-old wicketkeeper batsman was unfazed as he launched the next ball miles over long on to move to 99 and complete the milestone.
●   Dhoni finally perished on 134, blasting 6 sixes and 10 fours.
●   Dhoni is now the -fourth leading batsman in the world with most sixes in ODI cricket after Shahid Afridi (351), Sanath Jayasuriya (270), Chris Gayle (238).

●   महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने 134 रन की पारी खेली तथा इस दौरान छह छक्के लगाये. अपना 285वां मैच खेल रहे धोनी के नाम पर अब 203 छक्के दर्ज हो गये हैं.
●   वे यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाले पहले भारतीय एवं विश्व के पांचवें बल्लेबाज हैं. पाकिस्तान के शाहिद अफरीदी ने सबसे अधिक 351 छक्के लगाये हैं.
●   उनके बाद श्रीलंका के सनथ जयसूर्या 270 छक्के, वेस्टइंडीज के क्रिस गेल 238 छक्के, धोनी तथा न्यूजीलैंड के ब्रैंडन मैकुलम (200) छक्के का नंबर आता है.
●   हालांकि धोनी ने इनमें से सात छक्के एशिया एकादश के लिये लगाये हैं. उन्होंने भारत के लिये 196 छक्के जड़े हैं और इस तरह से उन्होंने सचिन तेंदुलकर के 195 छक्के का रिकार्ड भी तोड़ा.
●   भारत के लिये वनडे में सर्वाधिक छक्के लगाने वाले बल्लेबाजों में महेंद्र सिंह धोनी और सचिन तेंदुलकर के बाद सौरव गांगुली 189 छक्के, युवराज सिंह 150 छक्के, वीरेंद्र सहवाग 131 छक्के, सुरेश रैना 120 छक्के और रोहित शर्मा (117 छक्के) का नंबर आता है.
●   युवराज सिंह ने 150 रन बनाये जो उनके करियर का सर्वोच्च स्कोर है. वे इंग्लैंड के विरुद्ध 150 रन की संख्या तक पहुंचने वाले पहले भारतीय बल्लेबाज हैं.

Mona Meshram drafted in Indian women’s team

Mona Meshram will replace injured Smriti Mandhana in the Indian team for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers to be played next month in Colombo, the BCCI said on Saturday.
●   Smriti sustained an injury while playing in the Big Bash League in Australia and Mona will replace her in the 14-member Indian squad to be led by Mithali Raj.
●   “BCCI medical team confirms that Smriti Mandhana is ruled out of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers to be played in Colombo from February 7, 2017.
●   She sustained an injury during the Big Bash League in Australia,” the BCCI said in a release.
●   “Mona Meshram will replace Smriti in the 14 member squad,” it said.
●   India have been placed in Group A alongside Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Thailand in the February 3-21 event. Group B comprises South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland and PNG.
●   India will play a warm-up match against South Africa before their opening Qualifier against Sri Lanka on February 7.

●   भारतीय टीम सात फरवरी को श्रीलंका के खिलाफ शुरूआती क्वालीफायर से पहले दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ एक अभ्यास मैच खेलेगी.

Punjab Royals wins Pro Wrestling League Season 2

NCR Punjab Royals on 19 January 2017 were crowned the champions of the Pro Wrestling League Season 2.
●   The Punjab Royals triumphed over Haryana Hammers 5-4 at the K D Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
●   The winners were presented with the Champions trophy along with a prize money of Rs. 1 crore and 90 lacs. The runners up were awarded the prize money of Rs. 1 crore and 10 lacs.
●   About Pro Wrestling League
●   The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) is the initiative of ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India.
●   The first season of this league was among 6 city-based teams. Around 66 wrestlers from different countries of the world took part in the Season One.
●   There are six teams who compete in the League. Each team consists of a total of 1 Icon and 8 other players. Among them, there are 5 Indians and 4 foreign players. They consist of 5 men and 4 women.
●   The six teams for the Season 2 were: Haryana Hammers, NCR Punjab Royals, Mumbai Maharathi, Jaipur Ninjas, Colors Delhi Sultans, UP Dangal.
●   There are 5 weight categories (57 kg, 65 kg, 74 kg, 97 kg, 125 kg) for men, and 4 weight categories (49 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 69 kg) for women.
●   Revanta Mumbai Garuda was the winner of the Pro Wrestling League Season 1.

पंजाब रॉयल्स ने प्रो रेसलिंग लीग ख़िताब जीता

पंजाब रॉयल्स ने 19 जनवरी 2017 को प्रो-रेसलिंग लीग सीजन 2 खिताब जीता.
●   पंजाब रॉयल्स की टीम ने हरियाणा हैमर्स को 5-4 से हराते हुए यह ख़िताब जीता. प्रो-रेसलिंग का खिताबी मुकाबला नई दिल्ली स्थित के डी जाधव इंडोर स्टेडियम में खेला गया.
●   जीतने वाली टीम को चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी तथा पुरस्कार स्वरुप 1 करोड़ 90 लाख रुपये दिए गये. दूसरे स्थान पर रही टीम को पुरस्कार स्वरुप 1 करोड़ 10 लाख रुपये दिए गये.
●   प्रो-रेसलिंग लीग (पीडब्ल्यूएल) की भारत में शुरुआत प्रो-स्पोर्टीफाई तथा रेसलिंग फेडरेशन ऑफ़ इंडिया द्वारा की गयी.
●   इस प्रतियोगिता के पहले सीजन में 6 शहरों की टीमों ने भाग लिया था. इस मुकाबले में विभिन्न देशों के 66 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया था.
●   इस लीग में छह टीमें आपस में खेलती हैं. प्रत्येक टीम में एक आइकॉन तथा 8 अन्य खिलाड़ी होते हैं. इनमें 5 भारतीय तथा 4 विदेशी होते हैं. प्रत्येक टीम में 5 पुरुष तथा 4 महिला खिलाड़ी शामिल होती हैं.
●   सीजन 2 के लिए बनाई गयी टीमें हैं – हरियाणा हैमर्स, एनसीआर पंजाब रॉयल्स, मुंबई महारथी, जयपुर निंजाज़, कलर्स डेल्ही सुल्तान, यूपी दंगल.
●   इसमें पुरुष खिलाड़ियों के लिए पांच भार श्रेणियां बनाई गयी हैं – 57 किग्रा, 65 किग्रा, 74 किग्रा, 97 किग्रा तथा 125 किग्रा. महिला खिलाड़ियों के लिए चार श्रेणियां हैं – 49 किग्रा, 53 किग्रा, 58 किग्रा एवं 69 किग्रा.
●   रेवंता मुंबई गरुड़ प्रो-रेसलिंग लीग सीज़न-1 की विजेता टीम थी.
