10th Indo-Nepal Joint Exercise 'Surya Kiran' Commences
Indo-Nepal joint military exercise Surya Kiran-X commenced on 31 October 2016 at Army Battle School, Saljhandi, Nepal.
● The exercise will conclude on 13 November 2016.
● The joint military exercise is the tenth in the series of such exercise between the two nations.
● The Surya Kiran series of exercises are being conducted annually, alternatively in Nepal and India.
● In the series of military training exercises undertaken by India with various countries, Surya Kiran series with Nepal is the largest in terms of troop’s participation.
● Indian Army is represented by the elite Kumaon Regiment.
● Jabar Jung Battalion of Nepal Army is participating in the tenth edition of the joint exercise on behalf of Nepal Army.
● The aim of the exercise is to conduct battalion level joint training with emphasis on Counter Terrorism in mountainous terrain.
भारत एवं नेपाल के मध्य दसवां संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास सूर्य किरण 31 अक्टूबर 2016 को आर्मी बैटल स्कूल, सलिझंडी, नेपाल में आयोजित किया गया. यह सैन्य अभ्यास 13 नवम्बर तक जारी रहेगा.
● दोनों देशों के मध्य आयोजित किये गये सैन्य अभ्यासों में यह दसवां सैन्य अभ्यास है.
● सूर्यकिरण सीरीज़ के सैन्य अभ्यास प्रतिवर्ष भारत एवं नेपाल के मध्य आयोजित किये जाते हैं.
● अन्य देशों के साथ आयोजित किये जाने वाले सैन्य अभ्यास की तुलना में सूर्य किरण इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि इसमें सैनिकों की संख्या अधिक होती है.
● भारतीय सेना की ओर से कुमाऊं रेजिमेंट इसमें भाग ले रही है.
● नेपाली सेना की जबर जंग बटालियन, नेपाल सेना की ओर से दसवें सैन्य अभ्यास में भाग ले रही है.
● इस सैन्य अभ्यास का उद्देश्य दोनों देशों की सेनाओं को पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों में युद्ध की स्थिति के दौरान प्रबल बनाना है.
● आपदा प्रबंधन भी इस सैन्य अभ्यास का एक भाग है.
● बटालियन स्तर पर आयोजित हुए इस सैन्य अभ्यास से दोनों देशों के मध्य संबंधों को मजबूती मिलेगी.
● इससे दोनों देशों की सेनाएं एक-दूसरे से विभिन्न कलाएं सीख सकती हैं तथा दुर्गम स्थानों पर युद्ध की स्थिति में निपुणता हासिल कर सकती हैं.
