Human Rights Day 2016 observed across the world
The Human Rights Day 2016 was on 10 December 2016 observed across the world.
● The day aims at promoting and raising awareness of the two Covenants of Human Rights Day.
● They are: International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
● For the year 2016, the day calls on everyone to stand up for someone's rights. To commemorate the day, a campaign "Stand up for someone's rights today” was launched to encourage, support and amplify what one does in one’s everyday life to defend human rights.
● Human Rights Day commemorates the day on which the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
● In 1950, the Assembly passed resolution 423 (V), inviting all States and interested organizations to observe 10 December of each year as Human Rights Day.
● UNGA in December 1993 created the mandate of High Commissioner for the promotion and protection of all human rights.
● The first Human Rights Day was celebrated in 1950.
विश्वभर में 10 दिसंबर 2016 को मानवाधिकार दिवस मनाया गया.
● इस दिवस का उद्देश्य मानव अधिकारों के प्रति लोगों को जागरुक करना तथा मानवाधिकारों के हनन को रोकना है.
● मानवाधिकारों में मुख्य रूप से शामिल हैं - आर्थिक, सामाजिक और सांस्कृतिक अधिकार (ICESCR) और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नागरिक और राजनीतिक अधिकारों (ICCPR) पर अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रतिबद्धता.
● वर्ष 2016 में आयोजित किये गये इस दिवस पर लोगों को एक दूसरे के अधिकारों के प्रति सहयोग देना शामिल है.
● इस दिवस पर ‘दूसरों के अधिकारों के लिए कदम उठाना’ विशेष उद्देश्य के रूप में शामिल किया गया.
● संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा 1948 में मानव अधिकारों की सार्वभौम घोषणा को अपनाये जाने वाले दिन से ही इस दिवस को मनाया जा रहा है.
● वर्ष 1950 में महासभा द्वारा प्रस्ताव 423 (v) पारित करके सभी देशों एवं संस्थाओं को इसे अपनाये जाने के लिए आग्रह किया गया.
● यूएनजीए ने दिसंबर 1993 में इसे प्रतिवर्ष मनाये जाने के लिए घोषणा की गयी.
● सर्वप्रथम 1950 में मानव अधिकार दिवस मनाया गया.
