'Yatri Mitra' in Aid of Assistance Seeking Rail Passengers to be Launched
In an initiative to improve the railway travel experience of elderly, differently-abled and ailing passengers, the Ministry of Railways has announced the launch of ‘Yatri Mitra Seva’ to simplify access to wheelchairs, battery operated cars and porter services. The scheme will be operational at all major railway stations.
• ‘Yatri Mitra’ or ‘Passenger Friend’ can be an assistant or any other person nominated for the purpose.
• In a communication sent to all Zonal Railways, the Railway Board said the IRCTC may provide the service ‘free of cost’ through some NGO, charitable trust, PSUs, etc.
• Once the service is booked, the IRCTC will ensure that the ‘Yatri Mitra’ is made available at the coach when the passenger arrives at the designated railway station.
• The ‘Yatri Mitra’ would contact the passenger on the mobile number given at the time of booking and confirm the expected time of arrival.
• In Chennai Central and Egmore railway stations, there are about 30 wheelchairs and five battery operated cars.
रेल यात्रियों की मदद के लिए आईआरसीटीसी ने रेल मित्र एप तैयार किया है। इस एप से यात्री कैब–टैक्सी तो बुक करा ही सकेंगे। दिव्यांग यात्रियों के लिए व्हील चेयर और मरीजों के लिए स्ट्रेचर भीबुक कराया जा सकेगा। रेलवे बोर्ड के डीजीपीआर अनिल सक्सेना ने बताया कि इससे यात्रियों को काफी लाभ मिलेगा।
• रेल मित्र खुद स्टेशन पर व्हील चेयर लेकर मौजूद रहेंगे। रेल मंत्रालय ने इस योजना का खाका तैयार कर आईआरसीटीसी को यह जिम्मा सौंप दिया है।
• यात्री आईआरसीटीसी की वेबसाइट पर रेल मित्र को ऑनलाइन बुक कर सकेंगे।
• रेलवे बोर्ड के अधिकारियों के अनुसार इस सुविधा के लिए यात्रियों को अपना पीएनआर नंबर, ट्रेन नंबर, सीट नंबर, कोच नंबर, मोबाइल नंबर और नाम देना होगा। उसके बाद यात्रियों को रेल मित्र का मोबाइल नंबर यात्रियों को मैसेज कर दिया जाएगा।
• ट्रेन लेट होने की स्थिति में सर्विस प्रोवाइडर यात्रियों से संपर्क साधेंगे और रेल मित्र से संबंधित जानकारी यात्रियों को देंगे।
• अगर कोई सामाजिक संगठन, एनजीओ, धार्मिक संगठन रेलवे स्टेशन पर मुफ्त में सर्विस देता है तो यह सुविधा यात्रियों को मुफ्त मिलेगी, लेकिन अगर आईआरसीटीसी इसकी व्यवस्था खुद करता है तो इसके लिए यात्रियों को शुल्क चुकाना होगा।
• चेन्नई सेंट्रल और एग्मोर रेलवे स्टेशनों में, 30 व्हीलचेयर और पांच बैटरी संचालित कारें हैं।
