World Radio day observed.

 The nation celebrates the first edition of World Radio Day in 2012. It was originally proposed by Spain. It was celebrated this year to remember the contribution of radio in our life.

World Radio Day is an observance day held annually on 13th February.

About World Radio Day:

• United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) every year praise the World Radio Day by arranging exercises with telecasters, associations and groups the world over.

• The day is a worldwide festival of radio as a discussion for diversion and data, as a scaffold of correspondence for remote groups and its part in engaging individuals.

• UNESCO at its 36th General Assembly on 3 November 2011 announced 13 February as World Radio Day. The primary World Radio Day was authoritatively celebrated in 2012.

• World Radio Day denote the commemoration of the primary telecast by United Nations Radio in 1946. 13 February 1946 was the day when the UN Radio transmitted its first call sign.

Theme of the 2016 world radio day is “Radio in Times of Emergency and Disaster”.
