World Bank approves USD 235 million for Bihar Rural Roads Project
The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors in December 2016 approved USD 235 million for the Bihar Rural Roads Project.
● After the completion of the project, around 1.2 million people will be able to access all-weather road. A majority of these people belong to the poor and vulnerable sections of society.
● 30% of the people, who will benefit from the project, live below the poverty line and about 48% of them are women.
● The project will also create direct employment of about 20 million person days for local labourers through a rural road construction and maintenance program.
● Under the project, climate resilient and cost-effective engineering designs will be used. Local materials and industrial by-products will be used to construct the roads.
● It will also use the alluvial sand that gathers on large tracts of farmable land after floods. It is expected that the step will save more than 25% in construction costs for rural roads.
विश्व बैंक के बोर्ड ऑफ़ एग्जीक्यूटिव डायरेक्टर्स ने दिसंबर 2016 में बिहार ग्रामीण सड़क परियोजना के विकास हेतु 235 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर की सहायता राशि मंजूर की.
● इस राशि से मुख्यमंत्री ग्राम संपर्क योजना के तहत आने वाली 2500 किलोमीटर की सड़क बनाने में सहयोग मिलेगा.
● इस परियोजना में शामिल सड़कों को लागत प्रभावी डिजाईन से तैयार किया जायेगा तथा इसमें इंजीनियरिंग के बेहतर प्रयोगों का इस्तेमाल किया जायेगा.
● इस परियोजना के पूरा होने पर 1.2 मिलियन लोग इन सड़कों का लाभ उठा सकेंगे. इनमें से अधिकतर लोग निर्धन हैं जिन्हें इन सड़कों का लाभ मिलेगा.
● इस परियोजना से लाभान्वित होने वाले 30 प्रतिशत लोग गरीबी रेखा से निचे रहते हैं तथा इनमें से 48 प्रतिशत महिलाएं हैं.
● ग्रामीण सड़क निर्माण एवं मरम्मत कार्य के तहत 20 मिलियन लोगों को रोज़गार प्राप्त होगा.
● इस परियोजना में जलवायु को हानि न पहुचाने वाले पदार्थो तथा कॉस्ट-इफेक्टिव डिजाईन उपयोग किये जायेंगे.
● सड़कों के निर्माण के लिए स्थानीय पदार्थ तथा स्थानीय औद्योगिक उत्पादों का उपयोग किया जायेगा.
● इसमें बाढ़ के बाद खेतों में जमा होने वाली गाद का उपयोग किया जायेगा. अनुमान लगाया जा रहा है कि इन उपायों से सड़क निर्माण के खर्च में 25 प्रतिशत की कमी आएगी.
