The Cabinet approved India Cambodia treaty
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between India and Cambodia.
• The Treaty seeks to promote and protect investments from either country in the territory of the other country with the objective of increasing bilateral investment flows.
• The Treaty encourages each country to create favourable conditions for investors of the other country to make investments in its territory and to admit investments in accordance with its laws.
• The Treaty is the first Bilateral Investment Treaty in accordance with the text of the Indian Model BIT, approved by the Cabinet in December, 2015.
• Cambodia officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia is a country located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia.
• Cambodia is a Southeast Asian nation whose landscape spans low-lying plains, the Mekong Delta, mountains and Gulf of Thailand coastline.
प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में मंत्रिमंडल ने भारत और कम्बोडिया के बीच निवेश को बढ़ावा देने के लिए द्वीपक्षीय निवेश संधि को मंजूरी दी
• इस संधि का उद्देश्य दोनों देशों के बीच द्वीपक्षीय निवेश प्रवाहों को बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से एक-दूसरे के क्षेत्र से किसी अन्य देश में निवेशों को बढ़ावा और संरक्षण प्रदान करना है।
• यह संधि दोनों देशों को अपने क्षेत्रों में निवेश प्राप्त करने के लिए अन्य देशों के निवेशकों के लिए अनुकूल स्थितियों को बनाने और अपने कानूनों के अनुसार निवेश स्वीकार करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करती है।
• यह संधि दिसम्बर 2015 में मंत्रिमंडल द्वारा मंजूर भारतीय मॉडल द्वीपक्षीय निवेश संधि (बीआईटी) के अनुसार पहली द्वीपक्षीय संधि है।
• कंबोडिया आधिकारिक तौर पर कंबोडिया के राज्य के रूप में जाना जाता है जो दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में हिन्दचीन प्रायद्वीप के दक्षिणी भाग में स्थित एक देश है।
• कंबोडिया एक दक्षिण पूर्व एशियाई राष्ट्र जिसका परिदृश्य निचले मैदानों, मेकांग डेल्टा , पहाड़ों और थाईलैंड के समुद्र तट की खाड़ी तक फैला है ।
