Jitu Rai wins Champion of Champions pistol award of ISSF


Ace Indian Shooter Jitu Rai has won the 2016 Champion of Champions pistol Award of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) for pistol shooting. 
тЧП    He won the award consisting cash prize of €5000 in the World Cup Final held in Bologna, Italy. 
тЧП    In the 10 m Air Pistol Champions Trophy final Jitu Rail defeated Damir Mikec of Serbia by 29.6 to 28.3 points. 
тЧП    Olympic champion Anna Korakaki finished third in this event. 
тЧП    It was the mixed knock-out competition meant only for the medallists in the World Cup Final.
тЧП    In this event shooters are eliminated after the first four shots, one each after every successive shot. 
тЧП    The last two compete on a three-shot format. 
тЧП    Other Awards In the rifle event category, the honour went to Sergey Kamenskiy of Russia. 
тЧП    He had defeated two-time Olympian Du Li of China by 31.7 to 31.6 points. 
тЧП    London Olympics champion Yi Siling of China took the third place.

3rd ISL Season to begin

The official Hero Indian Super League ISL 2016 schedule, match fixtures & time table have been released by the Football Sports Development Limited. 
тЧП    The 3rd season of the ISL, Hero Indian Super League 2016 will take place from 1st October 2016 and ends on 18th December 2016. 
тЧП    The 2016 ISL schedule featuring 61 games which will be played across 79 days in a home-away league format followed by two-legged semi-finals and the final.
тЧП    The football league was founded in 2013 and now it is most popular football tournament in India. The Indian Super League 2016 season will feature eight teams and each team will play 14 matches.  
тЧП    Mumbai City FC, Pune City FC, Atletico de Kolkata, Chennaiyin FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Goa FC, North East United and Delhi Dynamos are the eight participating teams in ISL 3.

Asian Beach Games : India Women's Kabaddi Team wins Gold

Indian women’s Kabbadi team on 28 September 2016 bagged gold medal at the 5th Asian Beach Games. 
тЧП    This was fifth gold in succession for the Indian team. 
тЧП    The Indian women's kabaddi team had been winning the gold since 2008.
тЧП    For Thailand, it was the fifth time in a row they had lost to India in a final.
тЧП    Indian men's beach kabaddi team settled for the Silver medal. 
тЧП    India had won gold in men's beach kabaddi the 2008 and 2010 editions.
тЧП    In Kurash, Amisha Tokas won silver in women’s 70kg category after losing to Nguyen Thi Lan of Vietnam in the final.
тЧП    In beach bodybuilding, Manoj Kumar Majumdar won a bronze in up to 158cm category.
тЧП    India has so far won six medals including one gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze, in the Games. 
тЧП    India is now at 15th spot in the medal table.

Eden Gardens : First Indian Cricket Stadium to Install Bell

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium has a Lord’s style, space-ship like press box. 
тЧП    Now another feature of the historic ground will find its place in an India stadium, as Cricket Association of Bengal will install a Lord’s-like bell at the Eden Garden’s, from the second Test between India and New Zealand. 
тЧП    Former skipper Kapil Dev will ring the bell– put up at the lower tier of the Club House underneath the Eden Clock.
тЧП    This Test match precedes the Durga Puja; Bengal’s autumn festival. 
тЧП    Crowd attendance could be an issue and the state association is trying to create a carnival-like atmosphere to ensure decent footfalls.

Pinky Balhara wins bronze in 5th Asian Beach Games

India’s Pinky Balhara has won bronze medal at the 5th Asian Beach Games held at Da Nang, Vietnam. 
•    She won the medal in women’s 52kg category after she lost to Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy of Vietnam in the semifinals. 
•    Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy won the gold medal in this event while another Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Quynh won the silver medal. 
•    To participate in the 5th Asian Beach Games, India had sent a contingent of 208 members.
•    The athletes will participate in 13 sporting disciplines which include Kabaddi, Swimming, Handball, Pencak Silat, Kurash, Woodball, Sambo, Ju-Jitsu, Pentaque, Sepaktakraw, Shuttlecock, Voninam and Muay Thai. 
•    Kurash is a form of wrestling that had originated from Uzbekistan. In this game, two opponents wear a green and a blue jacket. 
•    The participants try to throw the other on the ground.

Velvan Senthilkumar Wins Squash U-19 Asian Title


India's emerging player Velavan Senthilkumar came from two games down to beat Jordan's Mohammad Al-Sarraj 12-14, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 and bag the U-19 Asian Junior Individual squash championship title on Saturday.
•    The Chennai lad, who trains at the Indian Squash Academy (ISA), is the second Indian to win the title after Ravi Dixit in 2010.
•    According to coach Bala Murugan, Velavan took time to settle down but once he got into the rhythm there was no looking back.
•    From among 31 Indian players in various age categories at the tournament, there were two more medal winners in Tushar Shahani, who claimed a silver in boys' U-17, and Yash Fadte who earned a bronze in boys' U-15 section
•    In Chennai, a delighted national coach Cyrus Poncha said that the success was a great moment for Indian squash.

MSK Prasad to head Selection Committee

Former wicket keeper MSK Prasad has been chosen to succeed Sandeep Patil as the chairman of India's selection panel. 
•    The decision was taken at the BCCI's 87th annual general meeting in Mumbai, after the board had invited applicants for the selection job for the first time.
•    Prasad had been part of the previous selection panel headed by Patil since November last year. 
•    Former off spinner Sarandeep Singh, and former batsmen Gagan Khoda, Devang Gandhi and Jatin Paranjpe were the other four selectors named in the five-member panel.
•    Former India seamer Venkatesh Prasad was retained as chairman of the junior selection committee, which has Amit Sharma, Gyanendra Pandey and Ashish Kapoor as new members.
•    Ajay Shirke was unanimously elected BCCI secretary after being the only nominee for the post
•    Anurag Thakur will continue as BCCI's representative at the ICC and Asian Cricket Council, while Sharad Pawar will also continue as the alternate director at ICC meetings
•    The BCCI has approved possession of lands in Dharamasala and Bangalore as additional facilities for the NCA
