India celebrates its 74th Independence Day

• One of the largest democracies in the world, India will celebrate its 74th Independence Day on 15th of August, 2020. This day is celebrated to pay tribute and to remember the sacrifice and struggle of our brave heroes in the fight for freedom.

• The main function was held at the Red Fort of the national capital where Prime Minister hoisted the National Flag.Various cultural programs involving schools and organisations are held in Delhi. But this year due to the C-19 the celebrations will be different.All states and government offices have been ordered to webcast their events.

'Air India One' to be handed over to India soon

• A joint team of senior officials of Air India, security officers, and senior government officials has left for the United States to accept the delivery of the Special Extra Section Flight (SESF) or VVIP aircraft Air India One.

• One out of the total two Boeing-777 ER aircraft is ready for delivery in August to India. The Air India One has been specially designed for the Prime Minister, President and Vice President of India.

• Air India One is equipped with an advance and secure communication system which allows availing audio and video communication function at mid-air without hacked or taped. Air India will receive the aircraft and later hand it over to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Sports Ministry organises Fit India Freedom Run during 15 August to 2 October

• Union Sports Ministry will be organising the ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ from 15th August to 2nd October 2020. The largest country-wide run was launched by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju.

• In order to ensure social distancing amid the C-19 situation, people have been advised to run at their own pace anytime and anywhere.

AIM & NIITI Ayog with Dell Technologies launched Student Entrepreneurship 2.0 Programme

• Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, in collaboration with Dell Technologies has launched Student Entrepreneurship Programme 2.0 (SEP 2.0) for young innovators of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs).The programme was launched following the success of SEP 1.0.

• SEP 2.0 will allow student innovators to work closely with Dell volunteers. The students will receive mentor support, end-user feedback, prototyping and testing support, intellectual property registration and patenting of ideas, processes, and products, manufacturing support, and the launch support of the product in the market.

• The main objective of the programme aims to create over a million neoteric innovators and potential job creators of the country.

RBI approves Rs 57,128 crore as surplus to the Central Government for 2019-20

• The Reserve Bank of India has approved Rs 57,128 crore as surplus to the Central Government for the accounting year 2019-20.

• The decision was taken at the 584th meeting of the Central Board of RBI under the chairmanship of Shri Shakti kanta Das, Governor RBI.RBI has decided to maintain the Contingency Risk Buffer at 5.5%.

ACJ Journalism Awards 2019 announced

• Journalists Nitin Sethi and Shiv Sahay Singh were declared winners of the Asian College of Journalism’s (ACJ) Award 2019 for Investigative Journalism and the K. P. Narayana Kumar Memorial Award for Social Impact Journalism, respectively.

• The awards were presented in a virtual ceremony by Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist of the World Health Organisation(WHO), at the inauguration of the Class of 2021.

• ACJ with the support of the Media Development Foundation has instituted two awards to recognise and encourage the best works of investigative journalism and journalism for social impact produced for an Indian audience.

India’s first upper-stage rocket engine test-fired by Skyroot Aerospace

• Aerospace startup venture Skyroot Aerospace has successfully test-fired an upper-stage rocket engine, thus becoming the first private company in India to demonstrate the capability to build a homegrown rocket engine.

• The engine is 3-D printed and named as Raman, after the Nobel Laureate CV Raman.

• It has fewer moving parts and weighs less than half of conventional rocket engines with similar capacity.

• Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM has become the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO). He is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare and was commissioned in the Indian Navy on 01st July 1985.

• The alumnus of National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, has served on frontline warships of the Navy as Signal Communication Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer.

भारत ने अपना 74 वाँ स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया

• विश्‍व के सबसे बड़े लोकतंत्रों में से एक, भारत 15 अगस्त, 2020 को अपना 74 वाँ स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया गया। इस दिन को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करने और स्वतंत्रता की लड़ाई में हमारे बहादुर नायकों के बलिदान और संघर्ष को याद करने के लिए मनाया जाता है।

• मुख्य समारोह राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के लाल किले में आयोजित किया गया था जहाँ प्रधानमंत्री ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया था। विभिन्न सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम दिल्ली में स्कूलों और संगठनों से जुड़े हैं। लेकिन इस साल C-19 के कारण समारोह अलग-अलग होंगे। सभी राज्यों और सरकारी कार्यालयों को अपनी घटनाओं के वेबकास्ट करने का आदेश दिया गया है।

भारत को जल्द ही एयर इंडिया वन (Air India One) बोइंग 777-300ERs मिलेगा

• भारत को जल्द ही एयर इंडिया वन (Air India One) बोइंग 777-300ERs मिलने जा रहे हैं। अत्याधुनिक तकनीकों से लैस यह विमान प्रधानमंत्री, राष्ट्रपति और उपराष्ट्रपति सहित VVIP उड़ानों के लिए इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।

• इस विमान का डिफेंस अभेद्य होगा, साथ ही इसमें सभी तरह की अत्याधुनिक सुविधाएं भी होंगी। इसके केबिन को पूरी तरह से बदला गया है, जिसमें लार्ज एयरक्राफ्ट इन्फ्रारेड काउंटरमेशर्स (LAIRCM) और सेल्फ-प्रोटेक्शन सूट (एसपीएस) शामिल हैं। विमान में उन्नत इलेक्ट्रॉनिक वारफेयर सूट भी होगा, जो न केवल विमान की जमीन से हवा में होने वाले किसी भी तरह के हमले से रक्षा करेगा, बल्कि माकूल जवाबी कार्रवाई करने में सक्षम होगा

• 40 एयर इंडिया पायलटों की एक टीम को भारतीय वायुसेना के पायलटों के साथ-साथ इस अत्याधुनिक वीवीआईपी विमान को उड़ाने के लिए प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है। इससे पहले, भारत के वीवीआईपी 747 बोइंग जेट में उड़ान भरते रहे हैं, जिनका उपयोग आम जनता के साथ-साथ एयर इंडिया के बेड़े से संबंधित विमानों के लिए भी किया जाता था।

भारतीय रेलवे 15 अगस्त से 2 अक्टूबर 2020 तक चलने वाले ‘फिट इंडिया फ्रीडम रन’ के कार्यान्वयन में पूरा सहयोग करेगा

• भारतीय रेलवे ने भारत सरकार के युवा मामले और खेल मंत्रालय द्वारा शुरू की गई नई पहल ‘फिट इंडिया फ्रीडम रन’ का पूरी तरह से सहयोग करने का फैसला किया है। यह आयोजन 15 अगस्त से 2 अक्टूबर 2020 तक जारी रहेगा। इस पहल को फिट इंडियन मूवमेंट के तत्वाधान में किया जा रहा है।

• ‘फिट इंडिया रन’ की कल्पना सामाजिक दूरी (सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग) के नियम का पालन करते हुए खुद को फिट रखने की अपरिहार्य आवश्यकता को ध्यान में रखते हुए की गई है। इस रन में एक व्यक्ति अपने अनुकूल समय पर अपनी पसंद के किसी मार्ग पर दौड़ / चल सकता है। ऐसे रन / वॉक के दौरान कोई विश्राम (ब्रेक) भी ले सकता है। असल में, इसमें हर कोई अपनी दौड़ पूरा करता है और अपने हिसाब से अपनी दौड़ की गति तय करता है।

डेल टेक्नोलॉजीज के साथ एआईएम और नीति आयोग ने छात्र उद्यमिता 2.0 कार्यक्रम का शुभारंभ किया

• अटल इनोवेशन मिशन (AIM), नीति आयोग ने डेल टेक्नोलॉजीज के साथ मिलकर अटल टिंकरिंग लैब्स (ATL) के युवा इनोवेटर्स के लिए स्टूडेंट एंटरप्रेन्योरशिप प्रोग्राम 2.0 (SEP 2.0) लॉन्च किया है। SEP 1.0 की सफलता के बाद इस प्रोग्राम को लॉन्च किया गया था।

• एसईपी 2.0 छात्र नवाचारियों को डेल स्वयंसेवकों के साथ मिलकर काम करने की अनुमति देगा। छात्रों को संरक्षक समर्थन, अंत उपयोगकर्ता प्रतिक्रिया, प्रोटोटाइप और परीक्षण समर्थन, बौद्धिक संपदा पंजीकरण और विचारों, प्रक्रियाओं, और उत्पादों, विनिर्माण समर्थन और बाजार में उत्पाद के लॉन्च समर्थन का पेटेंट प्राप्त होगा।

• कार्यक्रम का मुख्य उद्देश्य देश के एक लाख नव-नवप्रवर्तनकर्ताओं और संभावित नौकरी सृजनकर्ताओं को बनाना है।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

RBI बोर्ड ने दी मंजूरी, सरकार को 57,128 करोड़ रुपये का लाभांश देगा केंद्रीय बैंक

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) के केंद्रीय बोर्ड ने केंद्र सरकार को 57,128 करोड़ रुपये के लाभांश भुगतान की मंजूरी दे दी है। यह कदम बजट उम्मीदों के अनुरूप है, लेकिन अर्थव्यवस्था में सुस्ती तथा महामारी की वजह से सरकार के राजस्व में होने वाले नुकसान की भरपाई इससे नहीं हो पाएगी।

• बोर्ड ने लेखा वर्ष 2019-20 के लिए सरकार को 57,128 करोड़ रुपये का अधिशेष हस्तांतरित करने पर अपनी सहमति दे दी है। पिछले साल केंद्रीय बैंक ने सरकार को 1.76 लाख करोड़ रुपये हस्तांतरित किए थे। इनमें से 1.23 लाख करोड़ रुपये लाभांश के रूप में तथा 52,637 करोड़ रुपये केंद्रीय बैंक की संशोधित आर्थिक पूंजी की व्यवस्ता (ईसीएफ) के प्रावधानों के तहत अधिशेष पूंजी के रूप दिए गए थे। बोर्ड ने आपात जोखिम के लिए पूंजी बफर का अनुपात 5.5 फीसदी पर कायम रखने का फैसला किया हें।

• पत्रकार नितिन सेठी और शिव सहाय सिंह को क्रमशः खोजी पत्रकारिता के लिए एशियन कॉलेज ऑफ़ जर्नलिज्म (ACJ) अवार्ड 2019 और सोशल इम्पैक्ट जर्नलिज्म के लिए के. पी. नारायण कुमार मेमोरियल अवार्ड का विजेता घोषित किया गया। यह पुरस्कार विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) की मुख्य वैज्ञानिक सौम्या स्वामीनाथन द्वारा 2021 की क्लास के उद्घाटन पर एक वर्चुअल समारोह के दौरान प्रदान किए गए।

स्काईरूट एयरोस्पेस ने अपर स्टेज रॉकेट इंजन "रमन" का किया सफल परीक्षण

• एक स्पैसेटेक स्टार्टअप, Skyroot Aerospace ने एक अपर स्टेज के रॉकेट इंजन "रमन" का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया है। इसके साथ, स्काईरोट एयरोस्पेस एक होमग्रोन रॉकेट इंजन बनाने की क्षमता दिखाने वाली पहली भारतीय निजी फर्म बन गई है। "रमन" एक 3-डी प्रिंटेड रॉकेट इंजन है जिसका नाम नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता सीवी रमन के नाम पर रखा गया है।

Education Minister launches Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 2020

• Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank virtually launched the Minimum Standards of Architectural Education Regulations, 2020 in New Delhi on August 11, 2020.

• During the launch, the Minister highlighted about unique architectural beauty of India, its monuments and temples. He highlighted how the architecture of India is rooted in its history, culture and religion.

• He further added that the Council of Architecture should draw inspiration from the present and past treasures of Architecture and bring a paradigm shift in the field of Architecture to make India a world leader again.

Goa’s ‘Khaje’, ‘Harmal Chilli’ and ‘Moira banana’ get GI tag

• Goa’s traditional festive sweet dish ‘Khaje’, spicy Harmal Chilli and Myndoli Banana (Moira Banana) has obtained Geographical Indication (GI) tag from the Geographical Indications Registry.

• A GI tag protects the produce from being illegally used, and ensures benefits to the local growers’ community.

Historic peace agreement between UAE & Israel

• President of USA, Donald J. Trump, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Nahyan have agreed to the full normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

• Israeli and UAE delegations will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security and the establishment of reciprocal embassies, they said.

Israel & United States successfully tests an advanced missile defense system Arrow 2

• Israel's Defense Ministry conducted a successful test of the nation’s advanced missile defense system against long-range ballistic attacks on August 12, 2020.

• Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said that the successful flight test of the Arrow-2 interceptor was part of Israel's technological effort, which ensure that they will always be one step ahead of their enemies.

• The test was conducted overnight jointly with the US Missile Defense Agency in central Israel. The Arrow-interceptor is a part of the multi-layered system, which Israel has developed to defend against both short and mid-range missiles. It can also intercept long-range missiles.

• The advanced missile defense system including the Arrow-3 system, Irone Dome and David’s Sling is also capable of defending against threats from outside the atmosphere.

RBI announces ‘positive pay’ feature to help avert cheque frauds

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced to introduce a mechanism of ‘Positive Pay’ feature for all cheques of value Rs 50,000 and above. This feature helps to avert cheque frauds. The limit of Rs 50,000 will cover approximately 20 per cent of transactions by volume and 80 per cent by value.

• Positive pay is a fraud-prevention system offered by most commercial banks to companies to protect them against forged, altered and counterfeit checks.

यूएई और इजरायल के बीच ऐतिहासिक शांति समझौता

• पश्चिम एशिया के दो धुर विरोधी देश संयुक्‍त अरब अमीरात और इजरालय में शांति समझौता हुआ है। इस डील के बाद इजरायल ने वेस्‍ट बैंक पर कब्‍जा करने की योजना को टाल दिया है।

• इजरायल और संयुक्‍त अरब अमीरात के बीच वर्षों से चली आ रही दुश्‍मनी अब खत्‍म हो गई है।

• ट्रंप के प्रयासों के बाद इजरायल और यूएई ने एक ऐतिहासिक समझौते पर हस्‍ताक्षर किया है।

• डील के बाद इजरायल वेस्‍ट बैंक पर कब्‍जा करने की विवादास्‍पद योजना को बंद कर देगा।

• फलस्‍तीन के राष्‍ट्रपति महमूद अब्‍बास के प्रवक्‍ता ने कहा कि यह डील उनके साथ एक 'धोखा' है।

इज़राइल ने उन्नत मिसाइल रक्षा प्रणाली का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया

• 13 अगस्त 2020 को इज़राइल ने उन्नत मिसाइल रक्षा प्रणाली एरो-2 का सफल परीक्षण किया। मिसाइल का विकास लेबनान और गाजा से दागे जाने वाले मध्यम दूरी के रॉकेटों के खिलाफ किया गया है।

• 2019 में, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और इजराइल ने संयुक्त रूप से अलास्का में सफलतापूर्वक एरो-3 का परीक्षण किया। इस प्रणाली को इज़राइल एयरोस्पेस इंडस्ट्रीज और अमेरिकी कंपनी बोइंग द्वारा विकसित किया गया था। यह 2017 में चालू हो गया था।

• दूसरी ओर, हाल ही में एरो-2 को सीरियाई मिसाइलों का मुकाबला करने के लिए तैनात किया गया था।

• एरो मिसाइलों को यूएसए के पूर्ण समर्थन के तहत विकसित किया गया था। इजरायल के अलावा किसी भी देश ने अमेरिका से पूरा एरो सिस्टम नहीं खरीदा है। भारत सरकार ने 1999 में इजरायल से एरो मिसाइल खरीदने की मांग की थी। हालांकि, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने MTCR (मिसाइल टेक्नोलॉजी कंट्रोल रिजीम) का हवाला देते हुए अनुरोध को वीटो कर दिया था।

• यह एक बहुपक्षीय निर्यात नियंत्रण व्यवस्था है। भारत भी इसका एक हिस्सा है। इसका गठन 1987 में जी7 औद्योगिक देशों द्वारा किया गया था। यह सामूहिक विनाश के हथियारों के प्रसार के जोखिमों को सीमित करता है। यह मुख्य रूप से रॉकेट और मानवरहित हवाई वाहनों पर केंद्रित है।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

धोखाधड़ी की जांच में मदद करने के लिए RBI ने ‘Positive Pay’ ’सुविधा की घोषणा की

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने 50,000 रुपये और उससे अधिक मूल्य के सभी चेक के लिए ’पॉजिटिव पे’ फीचर का एक तंत्र शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। यह सुविधा धोखाधड़ी को रोकने में मदद करती है। 50,000 रुपये की सीमा मात्रा के हिसाब से लगभग 20 प्रतिशत लेनदेन और 80 प्रतिशत मूल्य से कवर होगी।

• ‘Positive Pay’ अधिकांश वाणिज्यिक बैंकों द्वारा जाली, बदली हुई और नकली जाँच से बचाने के लिए कंपनियों द्वारा दी जाने वाली धोखाधड़ी-रोकथाम प्रणाली है।

भारत में लिंग डिजिटल विभाजन को कम करने के लिए W-GDP और USAID के साथ रिलायंस फाउंडेशन भागीदार

• रिलायंस फाउंडेशन की चेयरपर्सन नीता अंबानी ने भारत में डिजिटल जेंडर डिवाइड के खात्में के लिए बड़ा कदम उठाया है। अंबानी ने 'यूनाइटेड स्टेट एजेंसी फॉर इंटरनेशनल डेवलपमेंट' यानी USAID के साथ हाथ मिलाया है। अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप की बेटी इवांका ट्रंप मुख्य अतिथी के तौर पर कार्यक्रम में मौजूद रहीं।

• अमेरीकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप ने 2019 में दुनियाभर में महिलाओं के आर्थिक सशक्तिकरण के लिए 'वूमेंस ग्लोबल डेवलपमेंट प्रोस्पेरिटी' यानी W-GDP इनिशिएटिव को लॉन्च किया था। इसको बनाने में इवांका ट्रंप ने महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा की थी। W-GDP इनिशिएटिव का लक्ष्य 2025 तक विकासशील देशों की 50 लाख महिलाओं तक पहुंचने का है।

• W-GDP इनिशिएटिव के तहत रिलायंस फाउंडेशन और USAID साथ मिलकर काम करेंगे। इस महत्वपूर्ण साझेदारी की घोषणा W-GDP के तहत हुए एक विशेष कार्यक्रम में की गई। कार्यक्रम की मेजबानी अमेरिकी उप-मंत्री स्टीफन बेजगुन ने की, कार्यक्रम में यूएसएआईडी के उप-प्रशासक बोनी ग्लिक भी शामिल रहे।

• रिलायंस फाउंडेशन के साथ मिलकर W-GDP, भारतभर में वुमन कनेक्ट चैलेंज लॉन्च करेगा। यह चैलेंज भारत में लिंग भेद के खात्में के साथ-साथ भारतीय महिलाओं को व्यापार में जोड़ने और उनको बढ़ावा देने का काम करेगा।

• RBI के पूर्व डिप्टी गवर्नर, सुभाष श्योराण मुंद्रा को तुरंत प्रभाव से इंडियाबुल्स हाउसिंग फाइनेंस (IBH) का गैर-कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है।

• वह एक स्वतंत्र निदेशक के रूप में 2018 में IBH के बोर्ड में शामिल हुए थे।

PESB ने सोमा मंडल को चुना SAIL का नया अध्यक्ष

• सोमा मंडल को सार्वजनिक उद्यम चयन बोर्ड (Public Enterprises Selection Board) द्वारा स्टील अथॉरिटी ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड (SAIL) के अगले अध्यक्ष के रूप में चुना गया है। वह वर्तमान अध्यक्ष अनिल चौधरी से पदभार ग्रहण करेंगी।

• मंडल ने सितंबर 2018 में सेल के निदेशक (वाणिज्यिक) के रूप में पदभार संभाला था। इससे पहले, वह नाल्को, भुवनेश्वर में निदेशक (वाणिज्यिक) थी, जिन्होंने नाल्को की पहली महिला निदेशक के रूप में पदभार संभालकर इतिहास रचा था।

13 अगस्त : विश्व अंगदान दिवस

• 13 अगस्त को प्रति वर्ष विश्व अंगदान दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य अंगदान के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना हैं। भारत में प्रतिवर्ष हजारों लोगों की मृत्यु ऑर्गन फेलियर के कारण होती, यदि समय पर इस तरह के रोगियों को स्वस्थ अंग का प्रत्यारोपण किया जाए, तो उनका जीवन बच सकता है।

• मानव अपने विभिन्न अंगों जैसे गुर्दा, फेफड़े, ह्रदय, नेत्र, यकृत, अग्नाशय, कॉर्निया, छोटी आंत, त्वचा उत्तक, हड्डी के उत्तक इत्यादि का दान कर सकता है। इनमे से कुछ अंगों का दान जीवित व्यक्ति भी कर सकता है, परन्तु अधिकतर अंगो का दान मृत व्यक्ति ही कर सकता है। इन अंगों की सहायता से किसी ज़रुरतमंद व्यक्ति के जीवन की रक्षा की जा सकती है। विश्वभर में 5 लाख से अधिक ऐसे व्यक्ति हैं जिन्हें विभिन्न अंगों की आवश्यकता है।

• भारत में अंगदान के लिए काफी संतुलित प्रोग्राम है, परन्तु मृत्यु के बाद भारत में अंगदान की दर बहुत कम है। मानव अंग व्यापार को रोकने तथा मृत्यु के बाद अंगदान को बढ़ावा देने के लिए भारत सरकार ने ‘मानव अंग प्रत्यारोपण अधिनियम, 1994’ पारित किया था। वर्ष 2011 में इस अधिनियम में संशोधन किया गया था।

• तिब्बती आध्यात्मिक लीडर दलाई लामा, जलवायु परिवर्तन पर जर्मन पर्यावरण पत्रकार, फ्रांज ऑल्ट के साथ मिलकर तैयार की गई “Our Only Home: A Climate Appeal to the World” नामक नई पुस्तक का नवंबर में विमोचन करेंगे।

• इस पुस्तक में दलाई लामा ने राजनीतिक निर्णय लेने वालों से जलवायु परिवर्तन के मुद्दे पर गतिरोध और बिना जानकारी से लड़ने और एक अलग एवं जलवायु के अनुकूल दुनिया और युवा पीढ़ी के लिए अपने भविष्य को फिर से हासिल करने के अधिकार पर जोर देने की अपील की है।

• यह उनके बच्चों के लिए समर्पित 2019 के प्रकाशन, “The Seed of Compassion: Lessons from the Life and Teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama“, उनकी आत्मकथा और दर्शन पर लिखी एक पुस्तक है।

Paytm launched India’s 1st pocket android POS device

• Paytm has launched India’s 1st Pocket Android POS (Point of Sale) Device named ‘Paytm All-in-One Portable Android Smart POS’ for contactless ordering and payments in India.

• This is the first such Android-based device to be introduced in India and is much more powerful than the portable Linux based POS devices presently available in the country.

• It is an effort to digitise and empower a large number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The company aims to issue over 2 lakh devices within the next few months which will generate over 20 million transactions per month.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Addresses ‘India@75 Summit: Mission 2022’ for upliftment of MSME

• The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari addressed the ‘India@75 Summit: Mission 2022’ on 8 August in New Delhi, via video-conferencing.

• The event was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to look towards improving presence of MSME industry in the 115 identified aspirational districts of the country.

• Google has launched its new "People Cards" feature in India that let users create their virtual visiting card and build their public profile for search engine. The Google People Cards feature has been in a testing phase for a few years in India and has finally been launched now.

• People Cards is a new listing feature of Google that help users create their virtual Visiting or Business Cards and enhance their online presence.The People Cards feature uses Knowledge Graph of the Google to display information shared by the users.

• Individuals, entrepreneurs, employees, influencers, self-employed people, businesses, online marketplaces, freelancers, and anyone can be benefitted through the People Cards by getting discovered easily on being searched.

PM to launch platform for Transparent Taxation 'Honoring the Honest'

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the platform for Transparent Taxation-Honoring the Honest through video conference on August 13, 2020.

• The Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT had carried out several major tax reforms in direct taxes in recent years.

• The Corporate Tax rates were reduced from 30 percent to 22 percent last year and for new manufacturing units, the rates were reduced to 15 percent. The board had also abolished the Dividend distribution Tax.

• The main aim behind the tax reforms is a reduction in tax rates and simplification of direct tax laws.

• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय लेफ्ट हैंडर्स डे प्रत्‍येक वर्ष 13 अगस्त को बाएं हाथ वालों की विशिष्टता और मतभेदों को मनाने के लिए मनाया जाता है और मुख्य रूप से दाएं हाथ की दुनिया में बाएं हाथ होने के फायदे और नुकसान के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाता है।

• यह दिन पहली बार 1976 में मनाया गया था और आधिकारिक तौर पर 1997 में घोषित किया गया था।

12 अगस्त: विश्व गज/हाथी दिवस

• 12 अगस्त को प्रतिवर्ष विश्व गज दिवस का रूप में मनाया जाता है, इसका उद्देश्य एशियाई व अफ्रीकी हाथियों के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना है। भारत में इस दिन भारतीय वन्यजीव ट्रस्ट व पर्यावरण, वन तथा जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय द्वारा गज महोत्सव का आयोजित किया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य पेंटिंग तथा चित्रों द्वारा हाथियों की स्थिति के बारे में लोगों को अवगत करवाना है।

• पहली बार 12 अगस्त, 2012 को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय गज दिवस के रूप में मनाया गया था। इसकी शुरुआत 2011 में सबसे पहले माइकल क्लार्क तथा पेट्रीशिया सिम्स (कनाडाई फिल्म निर्माता) ने की थी। इसका उद्देश्य हाथियों के संरक्षण के प्रति जागरूकता फैलाना, हाथियों के प्राकृतिक आवास की सुरक्षा तथा हाथी दांत के अवैध व्यापार पर रोक लगाना है। विश्व भर के कुल 65 वन्यजीव संगठनों द्वारा इस दिवस को मनाया जाता है।

• IUCN की रेड लिस्ट में अफ्रीकी और एशियाई हाथी को असुरक्षित प्रजाति के रूप में रखा गया है। वर्तमान में अफ्रीकी हाथियों की जनसँख्या लगभग 4 लाख है जबकि एशियाई हाथियों की जनसँख्या लगभग 40 हज़ार है।

Jal Shakti Minister launches Swachh Bharat Mission Academy

• Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM Academy) on August 11, 2020 in New Delhi, as part of the ongoing week-long behaviour change campaign Gandagi Mukt Bharat.

• After launching the SBM Academy by dialing the designated IVR toll-free number, the Minister stated that IVR based free mobile online learning course on ODF Plus will be crucial in achieving goals underlined in Phase - 2 of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).

• The Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) has transformed rural India by manifesting into a Jan Andolan for sanitation. This had led to the historic achievement of Open Defecation Free declaration by all villages, districts and states on October 2, 2019.

SC rules daughter is entitled to equal property rights even born before 2005

• Supreme Court has ruled that daughters enjoy equal property rights even if they are born before the 2005 amendment to Hindu Succession Act, 1956.

• Daughters have equal rights in the properties of Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).This is valid even if the father was not alive at the time of 2005 amendment.

Russia announces world’s first C-19 vaccine named “Sputnik V”

• Russian President, Vladimir Putin has announced that a C-19 vaccine named “Sputnik V” developed in the country has been registered for use.

• Russian Ministry of Health has given regulatory approval for what it claims is the world’s first C-19 vaccine, developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute. Russia is the first country to register a Chinese virus vaccine.

• Phase 3 trials would start on August 12, 2020, industrial production was expected from September. 20 countries had pre-ordered more than a billion doses.

Ex- Defence Minister Walter Roger Martos Ruiz takes over as new Prime Minister of Peru

• The former defence minister and retired army general, Walter Roger Martos Ruiz becomes new Prime Minister of the country. His appointment was confirmed by President of Peru, Martin Vizcarra.

• Ruiz will succeed Pedro Álvaro Cateriano Bellido. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government Palace in Lima.

• Lebanon's PM Hassan Diab and his government resigned on August 10, 2020 following the public outrage over Beirut blast that has caused massive destruction and claimed many lives.

• While announcing his resignation, Diab stated that he wants to stand with people and join their battle. He also added that the explosion was a result of endemic corruption.

Mohamed Ould Bilal becomes new Prime Minister of Mauritania

• Mohamed Ould Bilal has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Mauritania. The appointment was made by the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

• Mohamed Ould Bilal is a veteran public administrator and has served as the head of the country’s national water agency, a presidential aide and a cabinet minister.

• Noted Urdu poet Rahat Indori passed away. He was also a bollywood lyricist and known for the lyrics of songs like “M Bole to” from Munna bhai MBBS (2003), and “Neend Churai Mei” from Ishq (1997).

• His poem “Bulatihaimagarjanekanahi” went viral on social media earlier this year.

Former India defender and Mohun Bagan captain Laishram Manitombi Singh passes away

• Former Indian footballer and Mohun Bagan captain, Laishram Manitombi Singh has passed away, after suffering from a prolonged illness.. He was 39.

• He captained Mohun Bagan for consecutive two seasons (2003-2004) wherein he scored three goals, and also led the club to win the Airlines Gold Cup in 2004.

• Manitombi was a key member of the India Under-23 side that lifted the LG Cup in 2003 by defeating Vietnam 3-2 in Ho Chi Minh City. He also represented India in the 2002 Asian Games in Busan.

• Former NABARD Chief, Harsh Kumar Bhanwala has been appointed as executive chairman of the Capital India Finance Limited. Prior to this, Bhanwala was chairman of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for over six years.

• He was appointed as the chairman NABARD in December 2013 and demitted the office on May 26, 2020.

जल शक्ति मंत्री ने स्वच्छ भारत मिशन अकादमी का शुभारंभ किया

• जल शक्ति मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत ने 11 अगस्त, 2020 को नई दिल्ली में स्वच्छ भारत मिशन (एसबीएम अकादमी) का शुभारंभ किया, जो चल रहे सप्ताह भर के व्यवहार परिवर्तन गंदगी मुक्त भारत अभियान के भाग के रूप में है।

• नामित आईवीआर टोल-फ्री नंबर डायल करके एसबीएम अकादमी शुरू करने के बाद, मंत्री ने कहा कि ओडीएफ प्लस पर आईवीआर आधारित मुफ्त मोबाइल ऑनलाइन लर्निंग कोर्स स्वच्छ भारत मिशन (ग्रामीण) के चरण -2 में रेखांकित लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने में महत्वपूर्ण होगा।

• स्वच्छ भारत मिशन (ग्रामीण) ने स्वच्छता के लिए जनआंदोलन के रूप में प्रकट होकर ग्रामीण भारत को बदल दिया है। इसने 2 अक्टूबर, 2019 को सभी गांवों, जिलों और राज्यों द्वारा खुले में शौच मुक्त घोषणा की ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धि हासिल की थी।

सुप्रीम कोर्ट का बड़ा फैसला, पैतृक संपत्ति पर बेटी का हर स्थिति में समान अधिकार

• सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने मंगलवार को बड़ा फैसला सुनाते हुए कहा है कि एक बेटी को अपने पिता की संपत्ति में बराबरी का अधिकार है। अदालत ने कहा कि संशोधित हिंदू उत्तराधिकार अधिनियम के तहत यह बेटियों का अधिकार है और बेटी हमेशा बेटी रहती है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि हिंदू महिला को अपने पिता की संपत्ति में भाई के समान ही हिस्सा मिलेगा।

• कोर्ट ने कहा कि नौ सितंबर 2005 के बाद से बेटियों के हिंदू अविभाजित परिवार की संपत्तियों में हिस्सा मिलेगा। बता दें कि साल 2005 में कानून बना था कि बेटा और बेटी दोनों के पिता की संपत्ति पर बराबर का अधिकार होगा। लेकिन, इसमें यह स्पष्ट नहीं था कि अगर पिता की मृत्यु 2005 से पहले हुई हो तो क्या ये कानून ऐसे परिवार पर लागू होगा या नहीं।

• इस मामले में मंगलवार को न्यायाधीश अरुण मिश्रा की अगुवाई वाली पीठ ने फैसला सुनाया कि यह कानून हर परिस्थिति में लागू होगा। पीठ ने अपने फैसले में कहा कि यह कानून बनने से पहले अर्थात साल 2005 से पहले भी अगर पिता की मृत्यु हो गई है तो भी पिता की संपत्ति पर बेटी को बेटे के बराबर का अधिकार मिलेगा।

रूस C-19 वैक्सीन रजिस्टर करने वाला बना पहला देश

• Russia successfully register "Sputnik V" C-19 Vaccine: रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन ने घोषणा की है कि देश में तैयार की गई "Sputnik V" नामक C-19 वैक्सीन को इस्तेमाल के लिए सफलतापूर्वक पंजीकृत कर लिया गया है।

• रूस के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने मॉस्को के गोमिया इंस्टीट्यूट द्वारा विकसित दुनिया की पहली C-19 वैक्सीन के लिए नियामक मंजूरी दे दी है। इसके साथ ही रूस C-19 वैक्सीन पंजीकृत करने वाला पहला देश बन गया है।

• C-19 वैक्सीन परीक्षण के दौरान सभी मानदंडों पर खरी उतरी और ये C-19 से पूरी तरह से सुरक्षा यानि इम्युनिटी को बनाए रखने का काम करती है। हालँकि देश और विदेश के कई वैज्ञानिकों ने चरण 3 परीक्षणों से पहले वैक्सीन को पंजीकृत करने के विकल्प पर सवाल कई सवाल उठाए हैं जो आम तौर पर कई महीनों तक और हजारों व्यक्तियों पर किया जाता हैं।

वाल्टर रोजर मार्टोस रुइज़ बने पेरू के नए पीएम

• पेरू के पूर्व रक्षा मंत्री और सेवानिवृत्त सेनाध्यक्ष वाल्टर रोजर मार्टोस रुइज (Walter Roger Martos Ruiz) को पेरू का नया प्रधान मंत्री बनाया गया है। उनकी नियुक्ति की पुष्टि की घोषणा पेरू के राष्ट्रपति मार्टिन विजकार्रा ने की।

• रुइज़, एल्वारो कैटरियानो बेलिडो की जगह लेंगे । शपथ ग्रहण समारोह लीमा के गवर्नमेंट पैलेस में आयोजित किया गया।

धमाके के बाद बेरूत में राजनीतिक संकट, प्रधानमंत्री समेत पूरी सरकार ने दिया इस्तीफा

• लेबनान की राजधानी बेरूत में बीते दिनों हुए भीषण धमाके के बाद जनता के आक्रोश का सामना कर रही सरकार ने इस्तीफा दे दिया है। इस धमाके में दो सौ से ज्यादा लोग मारे गए थे और हजारों घायल हो गए थे।

• प्रधानमंत्री हसन दियाब ने सोमवार की शाम को राष्ट्रीय टेलीविजन पर अपने संबोधन में इस्तीफे का एलान किया। प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि बेरूत बंदरगाह पर हुए विस्फोट के मद्देनजर वह पद छोड़ रहे हैं।

• सरकार ने यह फैसला तब लिया है जब लोग देश के नेताओं पर लापरवाही और भ्रष्टाचार का आरोप लगा रहे हैं। प्रदर्शनकारी लगातार तीसरे दिन सड़कों पर उतरे थे और पुलिस से उनकी झड़प हुई थी। बेरूत में हुई भीषण धमाका एक गोदाम में आग लगने से हुआ था जहां असुरक्षित तरीके से करीब 2750 टन अमोनियम नाइट्रेट रखा था।

• मोहम्मद औल्ड बिलाल को मॉरिटानिया का नया प्रधान मंत्री नियुक्त किया गया है। यह नियुक्ति मॉरिटानिया के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद औल्ड ग़ज़ौनी द्वारा की गई है।

पूर्व भारतीय फुटबॉलर मनितोम्बी सिंह का निधन

• भारत के पूर्व डिफेंडर और मोहन बागान के कप्तान मनितोम्बी सिंह का निधन। वह मोहन बागान के लिए खेले और हिंदुस्तान एफसी टीम का हिस्सा थे जिसने 2010 में दिल्ली सॉकर एसोसिएशन लीग खिताब जीता था।

PM releases financing facility of Rs. 17,000 crores for farmers

• Prime Minister on August 9 launched a financing facility of Rs. 1 lakh crores under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund for agri-startups, entrepreneurs, farmer groups, agri-tech players for the post-harvest management and nurturing farm assets.

• Under the government launched PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Prime Minister transferred Rs. 17,000 crores into the bank accounts of 8.5 crores farmers. It was also informed that the amount went straight to farmers without any middlemen and commission.

• The new Agriculture Infrastructure Fund was launched via a video conference by PM Modi. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and other senior ministry officials were also present at the occasion.

• Under the scheme, around Rs. 1 lakh crores will be sanctioned under the financing facility in partnership with the multiple lending institutions as loans to farmer groups, primary agri-credit societies, agri-entrepreneurs, farmer producer organisations (FPOs), agri-tech players and startups.

NPCI launches omni-channel loyalty platform ‘nth Rewards’

• The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a loyalty platform named ‘nth Rewards’. Here nth represents “infinite possibilities”.

• It is an analytics-enabled omni-channel multi-branded loyalty platform. It allows users to earn “nth” (infinite) loyalty points through various bank transactions. These rewards point can be redeemed for various purposes including online shopping.

• Customers will earn loyalty points on almost every transaction made digitally, especially while using the credit and debit cards. ‘nth Rewards’ platform has a smart dashboard for users where they can see their points accumulation.

Andhra Pradesh launches state Industrial Development Policy 2020-23

• The Andhra Pradesh government launched state Industrial Development Policy 2020-23 on August 10, 2020. The State Industries Minister Gautam Reddy unveiled the much-awaited policy.

• While speaking at the launch, Reddy said that the state Industrial Development Policy 2020-23 envisages all-round and holistic development with the idea of empowerment being crucial.

• It will also enable the development of specific industrial parks as per local needs. The Industrial zoning will be a key focus area to ensure planned Industrial development.

• The policy will further aim to provide a ‘risk-free’ investment-friendly environment for industries in the state. It will also ensure minimised impact on the environment.

Gujarat launches Industrial Policy 2020

• Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020 has been unveiled by the state that aims to provide an estimated Rs 40000 crores as subsidies to the industries within the next five years.

• The aim of this policy is to lease out government land to industrialists, provide incentives to private industrial parks and also provide relocation incentives to units intending to relocate in wake of C-19.

Walter Roger Martos Ruiz Becomes New Prime Minister of Peru

• President of Peru(Republic of Peru) Martin Vizcarra appointed Walter Roger Martos Ruiz, the former defense minister and retired army general, as the country’s new Prime Minister.

• He succeeds Pedro Álvaro Cateriano Bellido . The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government Palace in Lima. The president also appointed attorney Luis Inchishategui as head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

Centre Constitutes Panel to fix ceiling rates under Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP) scheme

• The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has constituted a three-member committee to determine the ceiling rates for reimbursement of taxes and duties to exporters under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP) scheme.

• The committee would comprise of former Home Secretary G K Pillai as Chairman. The committee shall interact with the administrative ministries, export promotion councils, commodity boards, trade bodies and other stakeholders so as to take their views on the ceiling rates under RoDTEP scheme.

• The Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP) scheme for reimbursement of taxes was announced by the government to replace Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) and make Indian products competitive in global markets..

• The RoDTEP scheme aims to reimburse the taxes and duties incurred by exporters such as duty on power charges, VAT on fuel in transportation, farm sector, captive power generation, mandi tax, stamp duty and central excise duty on fuel used in transportation, which are not exempted or refunded under any other existing scheme.

Wrestling legend 'Kamala' passes away

• Wrestling legend James 'Kamala' Harris passed away at the age of 70 on August 9, 2020. The news was confirmed by WWE.

• The WWE released an official statement saying that it was "saddened" to learn about the death of the former wrestler. He was 70.

• James Harris, known popularly as Kamala in WWE, made his pro wrestling debut in 1978,. He was best known for his appearances with WWE (formerly named WWF) from 1984 to 2006.

Former Congress leader and eight-time MP, Nandi Yellaiah, passes away

• A senior Congress leader and eight-time Member of Parliament from Telangana, Nandi Yellaiah has passed away due to C-19. He was 78.

• Yellaiah was the vice-president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. (TPCC).He was a six-term member of LokSabha and two-time Rajya Sabha member.

• Red Bull's Max Verstappen took a sensational surprise victory in the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix to bring Mercedes' domination to an end. This race was officially called as Emirates Formula 1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix 2020.

• The race was the fifth round of the rescheduled 2020 Formula One World Championship. Lewis Hamilton finished second and Valtteri Bottas finished third.

• Max Emilian Verstappen from Netherland had won at the Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone, United Kingdom and became the first non-Mercedes driver to win a race in the 2020.

प्रधानमंत्री ने किसानों के लिए 17,000 करोड़ रु की वित्तपोषण सुविधा जारी की

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से कृषि इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर फंड के तहत एक लाख करोड़ रुपये की वित्तपोषण सुविधा को लॉन्च किया।

• गौरतलब है कि जुलाई में कृषि आधारभूत ढांचे के लिए सरकार ने रियायती ऋण का विस्तार करने के लिए एक लाख करोड़ के कोष के साथ कृषि इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर फंड की स्थापना को मंजूरी दी थी।

• उन्होंने कहा, 'इस कार्यक्रम में ‘पीएम-किसान योजना’ के अंतर्गत सहायता राशि की छठी किस्त भी जारी की जाएगी। 8.5 करोड़ किसानों के खातों में 17,000 करोड़ रुपये ट्रांसफर किए जाएंगे। महामारी के दौरान यह योजना किसानों के लिए बहुत मददगार साबित हो रही है।'

• कृषि इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर फंड वायरस महामारी से निपटने के लिए वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण द्वारा पेश किए गए 20 लाख करोड़ रुपये के प्रोत्साहन पैकेज का हिस्सा है। वित्त मंत्री ने आर्थिक पैकेज की तीसरी किस्त की घोषणा करते हुए कहा था कि इस कोष का इस्तेमाल शीत भंडारगृह, कटाई के बाद प्रबंधन ढांचे पर किया जाएगा।

• कृषि इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर फंड की अवधि 10 सालों तक यानी 2029 तक है। इससे ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में कृषि क्षेत्र से जुड़ा इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर तैयार करने में मदद मिलेगी। इसका लक्ष्य ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में निजी निवेश और नौकरियों को बढ़ावा देना है।

• चार वर्षों में ऋण वितरित किया जाएगा। चालू वर्ष में 10,000 करोड़ रुपये और अगले तीन वित्तीय वर्षों में प्रत्येक साल में 30,000 करोड़ रुपये के ऋण वितरित होंगे।

एनपीसीआई ने ओमनी-चैनल लॉयल्टी प्लेटफॉर्म -‘एनटीएच रिवाड्र्स’ किया लॉन्च

• नेशनल पेमेंट कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (एनपीसीआई) ने अपना बिजनेस इंटेलिजेंस और एनालिटिक्स सक्षम ओमनी-चैनल मल्टी-ब्रांडेड लॉयल्टी प्लेटफॉर्म -‘एनटीएच रिवाड्र्स’ लॉन्च किया है।

• यह विशिष्ट लॉयल्टी अवार्ड प्लेटफॉर्म यूजर्स को विभिन्न बैंक लेनदेन के माध्यम से ‘एनटीएच रिवाड्र्स’ (अनंत संभावनाओं के साथ) अंक अर्जित करने और विभिन्न रोमांचक प्राडक्ट्स, ई-वाउचर, डोनेशन, होटल और फ्लाइट बुकिंग पर तेजी से भुनाने की अनुमति देता है।

• बैंकों के लिए नए ग्राहक बनाने और पुराने ग्राहकों को अपने साथ जोड़े रखने के लिए ‘एनएटी रिवाड्र्स’ काफी उपयोगी है जो ग्राहकों को रिवार्ड पॉइंट्स कमाने और अधिकतम खरीद विकल्पों के साथ तुरंत भुनाने की सुविधा देता हैं।

आंध्र प्रदेश ने राज्य औद्योगिक विकास नीति 2020-23 का शुभारंभ किया

• आंध्र प्रदेश सरकार ने सोमवार को नई औद्योगिक नीति 2020-23 पेश की। इसमें आर्थिक वृद्धि को गति देने और विनिर्माण के जरिये बड़े पैमाने पर रोजगार सृजित करने के लिये खाद्य प्रसंस्करण, कपड़ा समेत 10 महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों की पहचान की गयी है।

• सरकार ने नियोजित औद्योगिक विकास सुनिश्चित करने और राज्य में पर्यावरण प्रभावित किये बिना उद्योग स्थापित करने के लिये जोखिम मुक्त, निवेश अनुकूल माहौल सृजित करने को लेकर औद्योगिक क्षेत्रों की पहचान की है।

• राज्य के उद्योग और बुनियादी ढांचा मंत्री मेकापित गौतम रेड्डी ने नई नीति पेश करते हुए कहा, ‘‘नई औद्योगिक नीति में निवेश को जोखिम मुक्त करना उसकी महत्वपूर्ण विशेषता है। हम ‘वाईएसआर एपी वन’ ला रहे हैं। यह अधिकार प्राप्त बहुआयामी व्यापार केंद्र होगा। यह उद्योगों के लिये एक ही जगह संसाधन और मदद मुहैया कराने के केंद्र के रूप में काम करेगा।

• ’’ मंत्री ने कहा, ‘‘वाईएसआर एपी वन निवेशकों को औद्योगिक इकाइयां स्थापित करने के मामले में हर संभव सहायता उपलब्ध कराएगा। औद्योगिकी इकाई स्थापित होने के बाद उन्हें बाजार पहुंच, नई प्रौद्योगिकी समेत अन्य सुविधाएं उपलब्ध करायी जाएंगी।’’

गुजरात ने औद्योगिक नीति 2020 शुरू की

• गुजरात औद्योगिक नीति 2020 का राज्य द्वारा अनावरण किया गया है, जिसका उद्देश्य अगले पांच वर्षों के भीतर उद्योगों को सब्सिडी के रूप में अनुमानित 40000 करोड़ रुपये प्रदान करना है।

• इस नीति का उद्देश्य उद्योगपतियों को सरकारी भूमि को पट्टे पर देना, निजी औद्योगिक पार्कों को प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करना और C-19 के मद्देनजर स्थानांतरित करने के इच्छुक इकाइयों को पुनर्वास प्रोत्साहन प्रदान करना है।

• केंद्रीय अप्रत्यक्ष कर और सीमा शुल्क बोर्ड (CBIC) ने निर्यात उत्पाद (RoTETEP) योजना पर शुल्क और कर की छूट के तहत निर्यातकों को करों और कर्तव्यों की प्रतिपूर्ति के लिए छत की दरों का निर्धारण करने के लिए एक तीन सदस्यीय समिति का गठन किया है।

• समिति में पूर्व गृह सचिव जी के पिल्लई शामिल होंगे। समिति प्रशासनिक मंत्रालयों, निर्यात संवर्धन परिषदों, कमोडिटी बोर्ड, व्यापार निकायों और अन्य हितधारकों के साथ बातचीत करेगी ताकि RoDTEP योजना के तहत छत की दरों पर अपने विचार रखे।

India bans import of 101 Defence items, gives big push for ‘Make in India’

• The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that the Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Ministry of Defence (MoD) has prepared a list of 101 defence items for which there would be restriction on the import, beyond the timeline indicated against them.

• This step has been taken to boost indigenisation of defence production in India and push the country towards becoming Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The embargo on imports is planned to be progressively implemented between 2020 and 2024.

• The list includes high technology weapon systems such as assault rifles, artillery guns, sonar systems, corvettes, light combat helicopters, transport aircraft, radars, and many other items.

• As per the Defence Ministry, the list also includes wheeled Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) with an embargo date of December 2021, of which the Indian Army is expected to contract almost 200 AFVs at an approximate cost of over Rs. 5,000 crores.

• In addition to this, the defence ministry has also bifurcated the capital procurement budget for the financial year 2020-21 between domestic and foreign capital procurement routes.

Mauritius declares a state of environmental emergency after massive oil spill

• Mauritius' Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth declared a state of environmental emergency on August 7, 2020 after a shipreck caused massive fuel spill.

• A Japanese-owned ship, which ran aground on July 25, has been leaking tons of oil into the Indian Ocean. The ship is reportedly carrying nearly 4000 tons of fuel oil and 200 tons of diesel on board.

• The Mauritius PM made the brief statement by tweeting that Mauritius does not have the skills and expertise to refloat stranded ships, so he has asked for help from France.

Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies by RBI in August 2020

• The Reserve Bank of India has released the Monetary Policy Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies 2020-21.The major points that are important from exam point of view is mentioned below:

• Additional standing liquidity facility (ASLF)- National Housing Bank (NHB) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will be provided with an additional standing liquidity facility (ASLF) of Rs 5,000 crore each.

• Advances against Gold Ornaments and Jewellery– Presently, loans sanctioned by banks against pledge of gold ornaments and jewellery for non-agricultural purposes should not exceed 75 per cent of the value of gold ornaments and jewellery. RBI has increased the permissible loan to value ratio (LTV) for loans against pledge of gold ornaments and jewellery for non-agricultural purposes from 75 per cent to 90 per cent. This relaxation shall be available till March 31, 2021.

• Positive Pay Mechanism for Cheques– The RBI shall soon launched a mechanism named Positive Pay for all cheques of value ₹50,000 and above to further augment customer safety in cheque payments and reduce instances of fraud occurring on account of tampering of cheque leaves

RBI introduces Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) System for Digital Payments

• The Reserve Bank of India has announced the introduction of an Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) system for resolving customer disputes and grievances pertaining to digital payments.

• This ODR shall be a system-driven and rule-based mechanism with zero or minimal manual intervention.Subsequently, the ODR arrangement would be extended to cover disputes and grievances other than those related to failed transactions.

IndusInd Bank acquires 7.82% stake in Eveready by invoking pledged shares

• Private sector lender IndusInd Bank has acquired 7.82 percent stake in battery maker Eveready Industries by invoking pledged shares following loan default.

• The bank invoked pledge on 56,83,320 shares which constituted 7.82 percent of paid-up equity share capital of Eveready Industries.

• As per the information, the equity shares of Eveready Industries India Ltd. held by Williamson Magor and Co. Ltd were pledged with the IndusInd bank for securing the outstanding dues of Seajuli Developers & Finance Limited (Seajuli), the borrower company.

• रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने घोषणा की है कि सैन्य मामलों के विभाग (डीएमए), रक्षा मंत्रालय (MoD) ने 101 रक्षा वस्तुओं की एक सूची तैयार की है जिसके लिए आयात पर प्रतिबंध होगा, जो उनके खिलाफ संकेत दिए गए समय से परे है।

• यह कदम भारत में रक्षा उत्पादन के स्वदेशीकरण को बढ़ावा देने और देश को आत्मनिर्भर भारत बनने की ओर उठाया गया कदम है। आयात पर प्रतिबंध को 2020 और 2024 के बीच उत्तरोत्तर लागू करने की योजना है।

• इस सूची में उच्च प्रौद्योगिकी हथियार प्रणाली जैसे कि असॉल्ट राइफलें, आर्टिलरी गन, सोनार सिस्टम, कार्वेट, हल्के लड़ाकू हेलीकॉप्टर, परिवहन विमान, रडार, और कई अन्य सामान शामिल हैं।

जापान के जहाज से तेल रिसाव के बाद मॉरीशस ने की पर्यावरण आपातकाल की घोषणा

• हिंद महासागर स्थित में भारत (India) के पड़ोसी मॉरीशस (Mauritius) ने तट पर फंसे जापानी जहाज से कई टन ईंधन का रिसाव शुरू होने के बाद शुक्रवार देर रात 'पर्यावरणीय आपातकाल' (Environmental emergency) का ऐलान कर दिया। सैटेलाइट से ली गई तस्वीरों में उन पर्यावरणीय इलाकों के पास पानी में गहरे रंग का तैलीय पदार्थ फैलता दिखा जिन्हें सरकार ने 'बेहद संवेदनशील' बताया है।

• मॉरीशस के अनुसार जापानी शिप एमवी वाकाशिओ (MV Wakashio) में करीब 4 हजार टन ईंधन भरा था, जिसके रिसाव को बेहद खतरनाक बताया गया है। देश के प्रधानमंत्री प्रविंद जगन्नाथ (Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth) ने इससे पहले दोपहर में कहा था कि उनकी सरकार मदद के लिए फ्रांस से अपील कर रही है। उन्होंने ये भी कहा था कि रिसाव के रूप में आई ये आपदा करीब 13 लाख आबादी वाले उनके देश के लिए 'खतरा' है जो पूरी तरह से पर्यटन पर निर्भर है।

अगस्त 2020 में RBI द्वारा विकासात्मक और विनियामक नीतियों पर वर्णन

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने विकासात्मक और नियामक नीतियों पर मौद्रिक नीति वक्तव्य 2020-21 जारी किया है। परीक्षा की दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण प्रमुख बिंदुओं का उल्लेख नीचे किया गया है:

• अतिरिक्त स्थायी तरलता सुविधा (एएसएलएफ) - राष्ट्रीय आवास बैंक (एनएचबी) और नेशनल बैंक फॉर एग्रीकल्चर एंड रूरल डेवलपमेंट (नाबार्ड) प्रत्येक को 5,000 करोड़ रुपये की अतिरिक्त स्थायी तरलता सुविधा (एएसएलएफ) प्रदान की जाएगी।

• स्वर्ण आभूषण और ज्वेलरी के खिलाफ अग्रिम-वर्तमान में, गैर-कृषि उद्देश्यों के लिए सोने के गहने और आभूषणों की प्रतिज्ञा के लिए बैंकों द्वारा स्वीकृत ऋण, सोने के गहने और आभूषण के मूल्य का 75 प्रतिशत से अधिक नहीं होना चाहिए। RBI ने गैर-कृषि उद्देश्यों के लिए सोने के आभूषणों और आभूषणों के प्रति ऋण के लिए अनुमेय ऋण को मूल्य अनुपात (LTV) में 75 प्रतिशत से बढ़ाकर 90 प्रतिशत कर दिया है। यह छूट 31 मार्च, 2021 तक उपलब्ध रहेगी।

• चेक्स के लिए पॉजिटिव पे मैकेनिज्म - आरबीआई जल्द ही वैल्यू के सभी चेक के लिए पॉजिटिव पे नाम से एक मैकेनिज्म लॉन्च करेगा। चेक भुगतानों में ग्राहक की सुरक्षा को और बढ़ाने के लिए 50,000 रुपये और उससे अधिक और चेक के पत्तों से छेड़छाड़ के कारण होने वाली धोखाधड़ी की घटनाओं को कम करना है।

RBI ने डिजिटल भुगतान के लिए ऑनलाइन विवाद समाधान (ODR) प्रणाली की शुरुआत की

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने डिजिटल भुगतान से संबंधित ग्राहक विवादों और शिकायतों के समाधान के लिए एक ऑनलाइन विवाद समाधान (ODR) प्रणाली की शुरुआत की घोषणा की है।

• यह ODR शून्य या न्यूनतम मैनुअल हस्तक्षेप के साथ एक प्रणाली-चालित और नियम-आधारित तंत्र होगा। इसके परिणामस्वरूप, विफल लेनदेन से संबंधित विवादों और शिकायतों को कवर करने के लिए ODR व्यवस्था को बढ़ाया जाएगा।

इंडसइंड बैंक ने गिरवी रखे गए शेयरों को मंगाकर एवरेडी में 7.82% हिस्सेदारी हासिल की

• बैंक ने चाय बनाने वाली कंपनी मैकलियोड रसेल इंडिया लिमिटेड में 7.5 प्रतिशत (78,32,253 शेयर) हासिल करने की भी घोषणा की है।

• निजी क्षेत्र के इंडसइंड बैंक ने शनिवार को कहा कि उसने लोन डिफॉल्ट के बाद गिरवी रखे गए शेयरों को मंगाकर बैटरी बनाने वाली एवरेडी इंडस्ट्रीज में 7.82 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी हासिल कर ली है।

• बैंक ने एवरेडी इंडस्ट्रीज की चुकता इक्विटी शेयर पूंजी का 7.82 प्रतिशत हिस्सा बनाने वाले 56,83,320 शेयरों पर प्रतिज्ञा की।

RBI ने C-19 संबंधित तनावग्रस्त परिसंपत्तियों के लिए गठित की केवी कामत समिति

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने C-19 संबंधित तनावग्रस्त परिसंपत्तियों के समाधान के लिए वित्तीय मापदंडों का सुझाव देने के लिए अनुभवी बैंकर केवी कामत के अंतर्गत एक विशेषज्ञ समिति का गठन किया है। समिति अपनी सिफारिशें आरबीआई को देगी, जिसे RBI संशोधित कर 30 दिनों में अधिसूचित करेगा।

• समिति के अन्य सदस्य दिवाकर गुप्ता, टी. एन. मनोहरन और अश्विन पारेख रणनीति सलाहकार होंगे और भारतीय बैंक संघ के सीईओ पैनल के सदस्य सचिव के रूप में कार्य करेंगे।

• भारत के घरेलू ई-कॉमर्स मार्केटप्लेस फ्लिपकार्ट ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार की वन डिस्ट्रिक्ट, वन प्रोडक्ट (ODOP) योजना के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। यह एमओयू ओडीओपी योजना के तहत कारीगरों, बुनकरों और शिल्पकारों को "फ्लिपकार्ट समर्थ" पहल के दायरे में लाएगा। इससे सामाजिक और आर्थिक चुनौतियों का सामना करने वाले कारीगरों, बुनकरों और शिल्पकारों को ओडीओपी योजना के तहत अपने व्यापार को ऑनलाइन बढ़ाने में मदद मिलेगी।

• 10 अगस्त को प्रतिवर्ष विश्व जैव इंधन दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है, इसका उद्देश गैर-जीवाश्म इंधन के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाना है। जैव इंधन नवीकरणीय, प्राकृतिक रूप से नष्ट होने वाले (बायो-डिग्रेडेबल) तथा पर्यावरण के अनुकूल होते हैं।

• इस दिन वर्ष 1893 में सर रुडल्फ़ डीजल (डीजल इंजन के आविष्कारक) ने पहली बार मैकेनिकल इंजन का परीक्षण सफलतापूर्वक किया था। उनके शोध से यह अनुमान लगाया गया था कि अगली शताब्दी में जैव इंधन, जीवाश्म इंधन का स्थान ले लेगा।

• The Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched a new version of the India Water Resources Information System (India-WRIS).The new version of India-WRIS is open to the public, and accessible through the web portal www.indiawris.gov.in.

• The new system provides with new functionalities and features. The advanced version is to address the requirement of a strong data base and a reliable information system.

• The portal contains information related to Water Resources for rainfall, water levels & discharge of rivers, water bodies, groundwater levels, reservoir storages, evapotranspiration and soil moisture, and modules on water resources projects, water bodies, hydro-met data availability and tools for GIS layer editing.

Serum Institute of India, Novavax sign agreement for C-19 vaccine supply

• Pune's Serum Institute of India and US-based Novavax signed an agreement for supply of the Novavax C-19 vaccines in India as well as in other low- and middle- income countries.

• Under the agreement, at least 1 billion doses of vaccine, also known as NVX-CoV2373, will be made available for India and other countries.

Mahinda Rajapaksa’s SLPP party wins landslide victory in Sri Lankan Parliamentary Elections

• Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa-led Sri Lanka People’s Party (SLPP) registered a landslide victory in the Sri Lankan Parliamentary Elections on August 5, 2020. The party and its allies secured two-thirds of the seats at the elections.

• Sri Lanka People’s Party (SLPP) won 145 seats in the 225-member parliament, while the allies managed to clinch more than five seats. Out of the total vote percentage, SLPP got around 59 percent of the popular vote, while SJB garnered around 23 percent of votes. The SJB is an offshoot of UNP, which was formed earlier this year.

US Senate approves TikTok ban on government devices

• The United States Senate has unanimously passed a bill banning the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok on government devices.

• The bill will now go to President Donald Trump to be signed into a law, which will prohibit federal employees from downloading or using TikTok.

RBI launches pilot scheme for Offline Retail Payments Using Cards and Mobile Devices

• The Reserve Bank of India has launched pilot scheme for small value payments in offline mode. The pilot scheme shall be undertaken till March 31, 2021 only.

• Under the scheme, authorised Payment System Operators (PSOs) – banks and non-banks – will be able to provide offline payment solutions using cards, wallets or mobile devices for remote or proximity payments.

• This has been done to do away with the impediments caused due to lack of internet connectivity or low speed of internet, especially in remote areas.

Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Shirley Ann Grau passes away at 91

• Shirley Ann Grau, a Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction writer from America, whose stories and novels were based primarily in the Deep South, has passed away. She was 91.

• Grau won the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for her fourth book, “The Keepers of the House.”

• During her writing career, Grau wrote six novels and four short story, all of which were set in the Deep South, from New Orleans to north Louisiana and Alabama, telling both the dark secrets and the beauty of the Deep South.

• Pradeep Kumar Joshi, an Educationist Professor, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on 7 August 2020.

• He succeeds Arvind Saxena, whose tenure as UPSC chairman ended on 7 August 2020.Joshi will serve as the chairman of the UPSC till May 12, 2021.

P S Ranipse becomes new IG of CRPF

• Odisha cadre IPS officer, P S Ranipse has been appointed as Inspector General (IG), in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

• He will hold the post on Central deputation for a period of five years from the date of joining.

• जल शक्ति मंत्रालय ने भारत जल संसाधन सूचना प्रणाली (India-WRIS) का एक नया संस्करण लॉन्च किया है। India-WRIS का नया संस्करण जनता के लिए खुला है, और वेब पोर्टल www.indiawris.gov.in के माध्यम से सुलभ है।

• नई प्रणाली नई कार्यक्षमता और सुविधाएँ प्रदान करती है। उन्नत संस्करण एक मजबूत डेटा बेस और एक विश्वसनीय सूचना प्रणाली की आवश्यकता को संबोधित करने के लिए है।

• इस पोर्टल में वर्षा, जल स्तर और नदियों, जल निकायों, भूजल स्तर, जलाशय भंडारण, वाष्पीकरण और मिट्टी की नमी, और जल संसाधन परियोजनाओं, जल निकायों, जल-मेट डेटा उपलब्धता और उपकरणों पर मॉड्यूल के लिए जल संसाधन से संबंधित जानकारी शामिल है।

सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया, C-19 वैक्सीन आपूर्ति के लिए Novavax के साथ समझौता किया

• पुणे के सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ इंडिया और अमेरिका स्थित Novavax ने भारत के साथ-साथ अन्य निम्न और मध्यम आय वाले देशों में Novavax सी -19 टीकों की आपूर्ति के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

• समझौते के तहत, कम से कम 1 बिलियन टीके की खुराक, जिसे NVX-CoV2373 के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, भारत और अन्य देशों के लिए उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा।

श्रीलंका संसदीय चुनाव में महिंदा राजपक्षे के नेतृत्व में एसएलपीपी ने शानदार जीत दर्ज की

• महिंदा राजपक्षे की पार्टी श्रीलंका पीपल्स पार्टी (एसएलपीपी) ने आम चुनाव में शुक्रवार को शानदार जीत दर्ज की। इस जीत को महिंदा राजपक्षे की राजनीति में वापसी के तौर पर भी देखा जा रहा है।इससे पहले यह चुनाव दो बार स्थगित हुए थे।

• चुनाव आयोग द्वारा जारी अंतिम परिणामों के अनुसार 225 सदस्यीय संसद में एसएलपीपी ने अकेले 145 सीटें जीती और सहयोगियों दलों के साथ कुल 150 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज की है। इस तरह पार्टी को दो-तिहाई बहुमत मिल गया है।उसने बताया कि पार्टी को 68 लाख यानी 59.9 प्रतिशत वोट हासिल हुए हैं।

• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने बृहस्पतिवार को अपने श्रीलंकाई समकक्ष महिंदा राजपक्षे को उनकी पार्टी के संसदीय चुनाव में शानदार प्रदर्शन के लिए बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि दोनों पक्ष सभी क्षेत्रों में द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को आगे बढ़ाने तथा विशेष संबंधों कोई नई ऊंचाईयों पर ले जाने के लिए काम करेंगे।

अमेरिकी संसद ने सरकारी उपकरणों पर TikTok के इस्तेमाल पर लगाई पाबंदी

• संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका संसद ने एकमत से सरकारी उपकरणों पर चीनी स्वामित्व वाले वीडियो-शेयरिंग ऐप TikTok पर बैन लगाने वाला एक विधेयक पास किया है।

• यह विधेयक अब सीधा राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प के पास हस्ताक्षर के लिए भेजा जाएगा, जिसके बाद यह एक कानून में बदल जाएगा, जो कि सभी कर्मचारियों को टिकटॉक के डाउनलोड अथवा इस्तेमाल करने पर पाबन्दी लगा देगा।

बैंकिंग और अर्थव्यवस्था

बिना इंटरनेट के कार्ड और मोबाइल से कर सकते हैं 2,000 रुपये तक की पेमेंट, RBI ने दी मंजूरी

• रिजर्व बैंक ने गुरुवार को पायलट आधार पर ‘ऑफलाइन’ यानी बिना इंटरनेट के कार्ड और मोबाइल के जरिये छोटी राशि के भुगतान की अनुमति दे दी। इसके तहत एक बार में 200 रुपये तक भुगतान की अनुमति होगी।

• रिजर्व बैंक के गवर्नर शक्तिकांत दास ने इसकी घोषणा की। इस पहल का मकसद उन जगहों पर भी डिजिटल लेन-देन के लिये ग्राहकों को प्रोत्साहित करना है, जहां इंटरनेट से संपर्क की कनेक्टिविटी कम है। इस संदर्भ में जारी अधिसूचना के अनुसार पायलट योजना के अंतर्गत ‘पेमेंट सिस्टम ऑपरेटर’ (पीएसओ)...बैंक और गैर-बैंक...ऑफलाइन डिजिटल भुगतान की पेशकश कर सकते हैं।

• यानी इस तरह से भुगतान के लिए इंटरनेट से सम्पर्क की जरूरत नहीं होगी। केंद्रीय बैंक की अधिसूचना के अनुसार पायलट योजना के तहत भुगतान कार्ड, वॉलेट या मोबाइल उपकरणों या अन्य किसी माध्यम से किया जा सकता है। इसके लिये किसी अन्य प्रकार के सत्यापन की जरूरत नहीं होगी।

• इसमें एकल भुगतान की अधिकतम सीमा 200 रुपये होगा। हालांकि इसके जरिये किसी भी समय 2,000 रुपये तक कुल भुगतान की सीमा होगी।

पुलित्जर पुरस्कार विजेता उपन्यासकार शर्ली ऐन ग्रौ का निधन

• प्रसिद्ध कथा लेखक और पुलित्जर पुरस्कार विजेता शर्ली ऐन ग्रौ का निधन हो गया। उनका जन्म 8 जुलाई, 1929 को न्यू ऑरलियन्स, लुइसियाना, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में हुआ था। उन्होंने छह उपन्यास और चार शोर्ट स्टोरी लिखीं थी, जो सभी डीप साउथ में, न्यू ऑरलियन्स से उत्तर लुइसियाना और अलबामा में सेट हैं। उनकी पहली पुस्तक द ब्लैक प्रिंस 1954 में प्रकाशित हुई थी।

• शर्ली ने 1965 में अपनी चौथी किताब, “The Keepers of the House” के लिए पुलित्जर पुरस्कार जीता, जो ग्रामीण अलबामा में एक धनी इंग्लिशमेन और उसकी अश्वेत नौकरानी के बीच रोमांस के बारे में बताती है। इसके अलावा 1956 में उनकी बुक “The Black Prince and Other Stories” को नेशनल बुक अवार्ड के लिए नामांकित किया गया था।

• शिक्षाविद् प्रोफेसर प्रदीप कुमार जोशी को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (Union Public Service Commission) का नया अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया है। वह अरविंद सक्सेना का स्थान लेंगे, जो यूपीएससी अध्यक्ष के रूप में अपना कार्यकाल पूरा कर चुके हैं।

• जोशी, जो छत्तीसगढ़ और मध्य प्रदेश लोक सेवा आयोग दोनों के अध्यक्ष है, मई 2015 में UPSC में सदस्य के तौर पर शामिल हुए थे। UPSC के अध्यक्ष के रूप में उनका कार्यकाल 12 मई, 2021 तक रहेगा।

पी. एस. रानीपसे होंगे CRPF के नए महानिरीक्षक

• ओडिशा कैडर के IPS अधिकारी, पी. एस. रानीपसे को केंद्रीय रिजर्व पुलिस बल (CRPF) का महानिरीक्षक (Inspector General) नियुक्त किया गया है। वह ज्वाइन करने की तारीख से पांच साल की अवधि तक इस पद पर बने रहेंगे।

• आईपीएस अधिकारी पी. एस. रानीपसे 1995 बैच के अधिकारी हैं, जो इससे पहले ओडिशा में अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक (सतर्कता) के रूप में कार्यरत थे। उन्होंने 2013 में पुलिस महानिरीक्षक (ओडिशा) का पद संभाला था।

भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन की 78 वीं वर्षगांठ: 8 अगस्त

• हमारे देश के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के इतिहास में महत्वपूर्ण मील के पत्थर के रूप में पहचाना जाने वाले अगस्त क्रांति दिन अथवा भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन की 78 वीं वर्षगांठ 8 अगस्त 2020 को समूचे देश में मनाई जा रही है। महात्मा गांधी ने 8 अगस्त 1942 को ब्रिटिश शासन को समाप्त करने अर्थात अंग्रेजों को देश के भगाने का आह्वान और मुंबई में अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस समिति के सत्र दौरान भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन की शुरूआत की थी।

• गांधीजी ने क्रिप्स मिशन की विफलता के बाद, मुंबई के गोवालिया टैंक मैदान में दिए गए अपने भारत छोड़ो भाषण में "करो या मरो" का नारा दिया था। इस दिन देश स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों को श्रद्धांजलि देकर, स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के दौरान शहीदों के सर्वोच्च बलिदानों को याद दिलाता है।

First ‘Kisan Rail’ to run from 7 August between Maharashtra, Bihar

• Railways Ministry will run India's first ‘Kisan Rail’ from August 7, 2020 between Maharashtra and Bihar. The train will begin from Devlali, in Maharashtra at 11 am and its last stop will be at Danapur, Bihar.

• The train will be making several stoppages at stations carrying fruits and vegetables. It will not carry regular passengers.

First Mobile RT-PCR lab of India developed by IISc launched in Karnataka

• The State Government of Karnataka launched India’s first mobile RT-PCR lab in Bengaluru. The lab was developed by Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

• The lab has been named Mobile Infection Testing and Reporting (MITR) lab. It is capable of conducting 9000 tests per month. Apart from testing C-19, the lab can also be utilised to test HCV, H1N1, TB, HIV, HPV, etc.

• The main advantage of the lab is that it can be used for molecular diagnostic testing in C-19 hotspots quickly.

RBI 7th Bi-monthly Monetary Policy

• The six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Reserve Bank of India held its meeting in New Delhi. The committee was headed by RBI Governor Shakti kanta Das.

• The repo rate was kept the same at 4%.The reverse repo rate was kept at 3.35%

• The members decided to provide Rs 10,000 crore additional liquidity facility to National Housing Bank (NHB), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). In order to mitigate C-19 impact on households, loans against gold have been enhanced to 90% of the value as against the current 75%

• In June, the retail inflation was 6.09%.This includes food items such as meat, cereals, fish and pulses.

• The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) won the first prize in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2020. The SIH grand finale was held between August 1-3, 2020 at the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Uttar Pradesh.

• This 36- hour non-stop digital product building competition was a national level competition for software edition, which was organized jointly by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and All India Council for Technical Education.

Renowned TV actor Sameer Sharma passes away due to suicide

• Veteran Television actor Sameer Sharma is no more. The 44-year-old actor committed suicide on 5 August 2020, by hanging from the kitchen ceiling of his home.

• Sharma has been part of some renowned TV serials like ‘Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi’, ‘Left Right Left’, ‘Kahaani Gha rGhar Kii’, ‘Four’ and ‘Ssshhhh….Koi Hai’.

Girish Chandra Murmu appointed as new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India

• Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as the new Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. He will assume office on 8 August 2020.

• Murmu is the 14th CAG of India. He will replace Rajiv Mehrishi, a 1978 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, as the CAG.

• Murmu, a 1985 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, was the first Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Ajay Tyagi gets 18 Months extension as SEBI Chairman

• According to a Personnel Ministry, Ajay Tyagi has been given an 18-month extension, as the chairman of markets regulator SEBI.

• The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the extension of Tyagi’s term for 18 months, with effect from September 1, 2020 up to February 28, 2022.

• Mr Tyagi, a 1984 batch IAS (retired) officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, was appointed as the SEBI chairman in March 2017 for three years.

World Lung Cancer Day

• Every year, the World Lung Cancer Day is observed on August 1 to raise awareness about the causes and treatment of lung cancer and highlight the issues of lack of sufficient research funding for the ailment.

• The campaign was first organised in 2012 by the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) , in collaboration with the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and also the American College of Chest Physicians.

• The IASLC is the largest organisation in the world of its kind that only deals with lung cancer.

• National Handloom Day will be celebrated on August 7, 2020 to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on the same date in 1905.

• This year, the Union Ministry of Textiles will organise a virtual programme, which will have Textiles Minister Smriti Irani as the Chief Guest.

• The function will connect handloom clusters across India, NIFT campuses and all the 28 Weaver Service Centres and National Handloom Development Corporation.

महाराष्ट्र, बिहार के बीच 7 अगस्त से चलने वाली पहली किसान रेल

• देश में किसानों को आर्थिक रूप से मजबूत करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार ने इस साल से किसान रेल (Kisan Rail) शुरू करने की घोषणा की थी। अब इस ऐलान को अमली जामा पहनाते हुए भारतीय रेलवे (Indian Railways) ने 7 अगस्त यानि आज से किसान रेल सेवा शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। इस नए सेवा में देश के कई राज्यों के किसानों को सीधा फायदा मिलेगा।

• किसान रेल की शुरुआत महाराष्ट्र से बिहार के बीच हो रही है।भारतीय रेलवे ने पहली किसान रेल को महाराष्ट्र के देवलाली रेलवे स्टेशन (Devlali Railway Station) से बिहार स्थित दानापुर रेलवे स्टेशन (Danapur Railway Station) तक चलाने का फैसला किया है।

• 7 अगस्त को पहली किसान रेल (First Kisan Rail) देवलाली से छूटकर दानापुर पहुंचेगी। किसान रेल इन दो स्टेशनों के बीच लगभग 1519 किमी का सफर करीब 32 घंटे में तय करेगी।

IISc द्वारा विकसित भारत का पहला मोबाइल RT-PCR लैब कर्नाटक में लॉन्च किया गया

• कर्नाटक की राज्य सरकार ने बेंगलुरु में भारत की पहली मोबाइल RT-PCR लैब शुरू की। लैब को भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान, बेंगलुरु द्वारा विकसित किया गया था।

• प्रयोगशाला को मोबाइल संक्रमण परीक्षण और रिपोर्टिंग (MITR) प्रयोगशाला का नाम दिया गया है। यह प्रति माह 9000 परीक्षण करने में सक्षम है। सी -19 के परीक्षण के अलावा, लैब का उपयोग एचसीवी, एच1 एन1, टीबी, एचआईवी, एचपीवी, आदि का परीक्षण करने के लिए भी किया जा सकता है।

• लैब का मुख्य लाभ यह है कि इसका उपयोग सी -19 हॉटस्पॉट में आणविक नैदानिक परीक्षण के लिए किया जा सकता है।

टिक-जनित एसएफटीएस वायरस चीन में फिर से उभरा ; अब तक 7 लोगो की मौत

• चीन में एक नया संक्रामक रोग सामने आया है, जिससे सात लोगों की जान भी जा चुकी है।

• चीन में टिक-जनित वायरस से होने वाली एक नई संक्रामक बीमारी ने सात लोगों की जान ले ली है। इसके अलावा चीन में 60 अन्य लोग इससे संक्रमित भी हो चुके हैं। साथ ही इस नए रोग के मानव-से-मानव संचरण की संभावना के बारे में भी चेतावनी दी गई है।

RBI की 7 वीं द्वि-मासिक मौद्रिक नीति

• भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक की छह सदस्यीय मौद्रिक नीति समिति (एमपीसी) ने नई दिल्ली में अपनी बैठक की। इस समिति की अध्यक्षता आरबीआई गवर्नर शक्ति कांता दास ने की।

• रेपो रेट को 4% पर ही रखा गया था। रिवर्स रेपो रेट को 3.35% पर रखा गया था।

• सदस्यों ने नेशनल हाउसिंग बैंक (NHB), नेशनल बैंक फ़ॉर एग्रीकल्चर एंड रूरल डेवलपमेंट (NABB) को 10,000 करोड़ रुपये की अतिरिक्त तरलता सुविधा प्रदान करने का निर्णय लिया। घरों पर C-19 के प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए, वर्तमान 75% के मुकाबले सोने के खिलाफ ऋण को 90% तक बढ़ाया गया है।

• जून में, खुदरा मुद्रास्फीति 6.09% थी। इसमें मांस, अनाज, मछली और दाल जैसे खाद्य पदार्थ शामिल हैं।

• डॉ सुनीता धवले के मार्गदर्शन में डीआईएटी की छह सदस्यों की छात्र टीम "एज ऑफ अल्ट्रॉन" ने सॉफ्टवेयर की श्रेणी में मध्य प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा प्रस्तुत समस्या कथन एमएस 331 को हल करने के लिए 1 लाख रुपये का प्रथम पुरस्कार जीता। टीम ने आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस का उपयोग करके चेहरे, अभिव्यक्ति और हावभाव पहचान के लिए "दृष्टि" शीर्षक से समाधान प्रस्तुत किया।

• लोकप्रिय टीवी अभिनेता समीर शर्मा का शव उनके मुंबई में मलाड स्थित घर में मिला है। पुलिस ने आत्महत्या की आशंका जताई है।

• 44 वर्षीय समीर शर्मा 'क्योंकि सास भी कभी बहू थी', 'कहानी घर-घर की' और 'ये रिश्ते हैं प्यार के' जैसे टीवी सीरियल्स में काम कर चुके थे। बुधवार रात को उनके फ़्लैट में समीर का शव पाया गया था।

नियुक्ति और इस्तीफे

भारत के नए CAG नियुक्त किए गए गिरीश चंद्र मुर्मू

• जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल (LG) पद से इस्तीफा देने के बाद गिरीश चंद्र मुर्मू को भारत का नया CAG (नियंत्रक एवं महालेखा परीक्षक) नियुक्त किया गया है। वह राजीव महर्षि की जगह लेंगे।

• मुर्मू के स्थान पर पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री मनोज सिन्हा को जम्मू-कश्मीर का नया उपराज्यपाल बनाया गया है। राष्ट्रपति कार्यालय की ओर से जानकारी दी गई थी कि मुर्मू के इस्तीफे को स्वीकार कर लिया गया है। इस बात के कयास पहले से ही लगाए जा रहे थे कि मुर्मू को नियंत्रक एवं महालेा परीक्षक नियुक्त किया जा सकता है।

SEBI चेयरमैन अजय त्यागी का कार्यकाल 18 महीने बढ़कर फरवरी 2020 तक हुआ

• सरकार ने Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) के अध्यक्ष अजय त्यागी (Ajay Tyagi) के कार्यकाल को 18 महीने के लिए आगे बढ़ाने की मंजूरी दे दी है। अब उनका कार्यकाल 28 फरवरी, 2022 तक रहेगा। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता वाली मंत्रिमंडल की Appointments Committee ने त्यागी के कार्यकाल को 1 सितंबर 2020 से बढ़ाकर 28 फरवरी, 2020 तक करने की मंजूरी दे दी है।

• हिमाचल प्रदेश कैडर के 1984 बैच के IAS अधिकारी (Retired) त्यागी को मार्च 2017 में 3 साल के लिए Sebi के अध्यक्ष के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था।

• हालांकि सरकार ने 24 जनवरी को विज्ञापन जारी कर Sebi chief के नए सिरे से चयन प्रक्रिया शुरू करने का निर्णय किया था। त्यागी को 2017 में Sebi chief नियुक्त किया गया था। उन्होंने एक मार्च 2017 को पदभार संभाला था। त्यागी के मामले में सरकार ने दो बार नियुक्ति अधिसूचना जारी की थी। 10 फरवरी 2017 को जारी पहली अधिसूचना के अनुसार आर्थिक मामलों के विभाग में तत्कालीन अतिरिक्त सचिव (निवेश) त्यागी को सेबी चेयरमैन नियुक्त किया गया था।

• उनकी नियुक्ति 5 साल या 65 साल पूरा होने या अगले आदेश, जो भी पहले हो, तक के लिए किया गया था।

• यह अभियान पहली बार फोरम ऑफ इंटरनेशनल रेस्पिरेटरी सोसाइटीज (FIRS) द्वारा 2012 में इंटरनेशनल एसोसिएशन फॉर द स्टडी ऑफ लंग कैंसर (IASLC) और अमेरिकन कॉलेज ऑफ चेस्ट चिकित्सकों के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया था।

• IASLC अपनी तरह का दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा संगठन है जो केवल फेफड़ों के कैंसर से संबंधित है।

• स्वदेशी आंदोलन को मनाने के लिए 7 अगस्त, 2020 को राष्ट्रीय हथकरघा दिवस मनाया जाएगा, जो 1905 में उसी तारीख को शुरू किया गया था।

India contributes USD 15.46 million to India-UN Development Partnership Fund

• India has contributed the next tranche of $15.46 million to the India-UN Development Partnership Fund, under its commitment to supporting developing nations in their developmental priorities across all the Sustainable Development Goals.

• This tranche of $15.46 million including $6 million for the overall fund, in which all developing countries are eligible for partnership, and $9.46 million is dedicated to Commonwealth countries.

• The cheque was handed over by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador T S Tirumurti to the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) Director Jorge Chediek.

• Department of Defence (DoD) Ministry of Defence (MoD), Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

• The MoU aims to conduct predictive analysis of public grievances.

• The project is aimed to help the MoD to identify the cause and nature of grievances and bring about systemic changes and policy interventions wherever required.

• Under the MoU, IIT-Kanpur will develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Techniques to conduct exploratory and predictive analysis of Public Grievances received on the web-based Centralized Public Grievances Redress & Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) pertaining to the MoD.

Manoj Sinha appointed as new LG of Jammu and Kashmir

• President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed former Union minister Manoj Sinha as the next Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He will replace Girish Chandra Murmu who resigned. Murmu’s resignation has been accepted by the President.

• Sinha has represented the parliamentary constituency of Ghazipur in eastern Uttar Pradesh thrice in the Lok Sabha. Sinha has also served as junior railways minister.

• Murmu officially took charge as the first L-G of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on October 31, 2019, under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

• The Hurun Research Institute released Hurun Global Unicorn List 2020, a global ranking of the world’s billion-dollar tech startups founded in the 2000s, and not yet listed on a public exchange. The 2020 list is the second edition of the annual list and has ranked a total of 586 unicorns in the world, based in 29 countries and 145 cities.

• The total value of these unicorns adds to US$1.8 trillion, which is equivalent to the GDP of Italy. The average age of these unicorns is nine years. The valuations of the startups is as on March 31, 2020.

• The United States has the highest number of Unicorns, at 233, followed by China at 227. These two countries represents 80% of the world’s known unicorns. The United Kingdom was third with 24, followed by India at fourth position with 21 unicorns.The total value of these stands at $73.2 billion.

• Among all Indian unicorns, the Fintech company Paytm is India’s highest valued unicorn, at $16 billion.The average age of Indian unicorns is seven years.

• Annually 6th of August marks the anniversary of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima during World War II. The horrific incident took place on August 6, 1945, when the United States dropped an atomic bomb named “Little Boy”, on the town of Hiroshima in Japan, followed a few days later by another drop on the city of Nagasaki on August 9.

• This was the first time in the history of warfare when a nuclear bomb was used against a nation.Although these bombings effectively ended World War II, the two cities were terribly destroyed and casualties were estimated at around 200,000, mostly civilians.

• जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल (Lieutenant Governor) जीसी मुर्मू (GC Murmu) ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। जिसके बाद मनोज सिन्हा (Manoj Sinha) को वहां का उपराज्यपाल बनाया गया है। राष्ट्रपति दफ्तर की ओर से जारी बयान में इसकी जानकारी दी गई है।

• जीसी मुर्मू को देश के नए ऑडिटर के पद के लिए नियुक्त किया जा रहा है। दरअसल नियंत्रक एवं महालेखा परीक्षक का पद जल्द ही खाली हो रहा है क्योंकि मौजूदा ऑडिटर राजीव महर्षि 65 वर्ष के हो गए हैं। जानकारी के मुताबिक, जीसी मुर्मू को नियंत्रक महालेखा परीक्षक का पद खाली होने के बाद नियुक्त किया जाएगा। नियंत्रक और महालेखा परीक्षक एक संवैधानिक पद है और इसे खाली नहीं छोड़ा जा सकता है।

• राष्ट्रपति कार्यालय की ओर से जारी बयान के मुताबिक, 'राष्ट्रपति ने जम्मू-कश्मीर के उपराज्यपाल के रूप में गिरीश चंद्र मुर्मू के इस्तीफे को स्वीकार कर लिया है।

• हुरुन ग्‍लोबल यूनिकॉर्न्‍स 2020 (Hurun Global Unicorns 2020) की सूची में भारत एक पायदान फिसलकर चौथे स्‍थान पर आ गया है।सूची में भारतीय कंपनी पेटीएम (Paytm) 16 अरब डॉलर के मूल्‍यांकन के साथ वैश्विक स्‍तर पर 13वें स्‍थान पर है। इसके अलावा 8-8 अरब डॉलर वाली ओयो (OYO) और वायजूस (Byju's) 31वें पायदान पर हैं। ऑनलाइन फूड डिलीवरी ऐप स्विगी (Swiggy) और जोमैटो (Zomato) सूची में 96वें पायदान पर हैं। इन दोनों कंपनियों की वैल्‍यू 3.5-3.5 अरब डॉलर आंकी गई है।

• हुरुन ग्‍लोबल के मुताबिक, पिछले साल भारत की 21 कंपनियां सूची में शामिल थीं। यह संख्या चीन के मुकाबले 10 फीसद ही है।इस साल भारत से यूनिकॉर्न की संख्‍या में कोई इजाफा नहीं हुआ। वहीं, ब्रिटेन ने पिछले साल की अपनी संख्‍या में 11 नए यूनिकॉर्न की वृद्धि की और भारत को पीछे धकेलकर तीसरे स्‍थान पर कब्‍जा जमा लिया।

• ब्रिटेन के कुल 24 यूनिकॉर्न हैं। वहीं, चीन इस सूची में 227 यूनिकॉर्न के साथ दूसरे पायदान पर है। इस सूची में टॉप पर अमेरिका है। अमेरिका के 233 यूनिकॉर्न हैं। भारत की इन 21 यूनिकॉर्न स्तर की कंपनियों का कुल मूल्य 73.2 अरब डॉलर है।

हिरोशिमा दिवस (एंटी न्यूक्लियर डे / नागासाकी दिवस) 2020

• प्रत्‍येक वर्ष 6 अगस्त को द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान हिरोशिमा पर गिराए गए परमाणु बम की सालगिरह का प्रतीक है। यह भयावह घटना 6 अगस्त, 1945 को हुई, जब संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका ने जापान के हिरोशिमा शहर पर "लिटिल बॉय" नामक एक परमाणु बम गिराया। यह परमाणु हमला 1945 में द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध को समाप्त करने के मकसद से किया गया था। इस दिन को परमाणु ऊर्जा और परमाणु हथियारों के खतरे के बारे में शांति को बढ़ावा देने और जागरूकता फैलाने के लिए याद किया जाता है।

• द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध 1939- 1945 तक चला था, जो तैनात किया गया दुनिया का पहला परमाणु बम था, जिसमें 9000 पाउंड से अधिक यूरेनियम -235 लोड किया गया था और जिसे US B-29 bomber aircraft द्वारा 6 अगस्त 1945 को हिरोशिमा के जापानी शहर एनोला पर गिराया गया था। यह विस्फोट इतना विशाल था कि इससे शहर की लगभग 90% आबादी खत्म कर दी थी, जिसमे 70,000 लोगों की तत्काल मृत्यु हो गई थी और बाद में विकिरण के प्रभाव के कारण लगभग 10,000 लोगों की मृत्यु हो गई।

• Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare announced the completion of Pan-India Genome Sequencing of SARS-CoV-2. He reviewed the C-19 activities of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and DBT-Autonomous Institutions (AIs) in the meeting with DBT.

• He also launched the establishment of Five C-19 Bio Repositories by the DBT at Faridabad, Bhubaneshwar, New Delhi, Pune and Bangalore

William English, the co-inventor of the computer mouse, passes away

• William Kirk English, the American computer engineer who co-invented the world’s first computer mouse, has passed away. He was 91 years old.

• In 1964, he was the first person to co-develop the mouse along with Douglas Engelbart, at the Stanford Research Institute and ‘demonstrated it in 1968, in what was dubbed ‘the mother of all demos.’

Central Government gave nod to Indian Premier League 2020 in UAE

• The Indian Government has provisionally granted permission for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League’s (IPL’s) 2020 to be rescheduled in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19 to November 10, 2020, due to C-19.

• Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will be the three venues of the tournament. No spectators to be allowed in the initial phase of the tournament. BCCI has also decided to host a Women’s T20 Challenge to be held from November 1 to 10 in UAE.

• Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar has released a book titled “Siyasat Mein Sadasyata” authored by Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary. The book is a compilation of the author’s views, three dozen articles on different important issues and his life journey.

एसएआरएस- सीओवी -2 के पहले पैन इंडिया 1000 जीनोम अनुक्रमण सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण

• केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्री हर्षवर्धन ने एसएआरएस-सीओवी -2 के पैन-इंडिया जीनोम सीक्वेंसिंग को पूरा करने की घोषणा की। उन्होंने डीबीटी के साथ बैठक में जैव प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग (डीबीटी), जैव प्रौद्योगिकी उद्योग अनुसंधान सहायता परिषद (बीआईआरएसी) और डीबीटी-स्वायत्त संस्थानों (एआई) की C-19 गतिविधियों की समीक्षा की।

• उन्होंने फरीदाबाद, भुवनेश्वर, नई दिल्ली, पुणे और बैंगलोर में DBT द्वारा पांच C-19 बायो रिपोजिटरीज़ की स्थापना भी शुरू की।

कंप्यूटर माउस के सह-आविष्कारक विलियम इंग्लिश का निधन

• विलियम किर्क इंग्लिश, अमेरिकी कंप्यूटर इंजीनियर, जिन्होंने विश्‍व के पहले कंप्यूटर माउस का सह-आविष्कार किया था, उनका निधन हो गया है। वह 91 वर्ष के थे।

• 1964 में, वह स्टैनफोर्ड रिसर्च इंस्टीट्यूट में डगलस एंगेलबार्ट के साथ माउस का सह-विकास करने वाले पहले व्यक्ति थे और 1968 में उन्होंने इसे प्रदर्शित किया था, जिसे सभी डेमो मे सर्वश्रेष्‍ठ करार दिया गया था।'

यूएई में केंद्र सरकार ने इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग 2020 को मंजूरी दी

• भारत सरकार ने C -19 के कारण 19 सितंबर से 10 नवंबर, 2020 तक संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (यूएई) में इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) 2020 के 13 वें संस्करण के लिए अनंतिम रूप से अनुमति दी है।

• दुबई, अबू धाबी और शारजाह टूर्नामेंट के तीन स्थान होंगे। टूर्नामेंट के शुरुआती चरण में किसी भी दर्शक को अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी। BCCI ने UAE में 1 से 10 नवंबर तक आयोजित होने वाली महिला T20 चैलेंज की मेजबानी करने का भी फैसला किया है।

मोहम्मद इरफान अली होंगे गुयाना के अगले राष्ट्रपति

• पूर्व गुयानी आवास मंत्री मोहम्मद इरफान अली को देश के अगले राष्ट्रपति के रूप में चुना गया है। वह विपक्षी पीपुल्स प्रोग्रेसिव पार्टी (PPP) के नेता हैं। वह डेविड आर्थर (A.) ग्रेंजर की जगह लेंगे।

• डेविड ए. ग्रेंजर ए पार्टनरशिप फॉर नेशनल यूनिटी एंड अलायंस फॉर चेंज (ANPU-AFC) के नेता हैं। पीपीपी ने नेशनल असेंबली में 233,336 वोटों के साथ 65 सीटों में से 33 सीटें जीतीं, जबकि APNU-AFC ने 217,920 वोटों के साथ कुल 31 सीटें ही जीत सकी।

सीएम नीतीश ने विधानसभा अध्यक्ष विजय कुमार चौधरी की पुस्तक ‘सियासत में सदाशयता‘ का लोकार्पण किया

• मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने रविवार को 1 अणे मार्ग स्थित अपने आवास में विधानसभा अध्यक्ष विजय कुमार चौधरी की मौजूदगी में ‘सियासत में सदाशयता‘ पुस्तक का लोकार्पण किया। विधानसभा सचिवालय द्वारा प्रकाशित इस पुस्तक में बिहार विधानसभा अध्यक्ष विजय कुमार चौधरी के विचारों, महत्वपूर्ण विषयों पर प्रकाशित उनके आलेखों और उनकी जीवन यात्रा को एक सूत्र में पिरोया गया है। श्री चौधरी ने अपनी इस पुस्तक में मुख्यमंत्री की खूबियों और उनके कार्यों का भी उल्लेख किया है। लिखा है- किसी नेता में मानवता की तलाश करनी है तो नीतीश कुमार को आपदा की घड़ी में महसूस किया जा सकता है। समाज में शांति के लिए शासक जब रात में जागता है तभी जनता चैन की नींद सोती है।

• पुस्तक की प्रस्तावना दैनिक ‘हिन्दुस्तान’ बिहार के संपादक विनोद बंधु ने लिखी है, जबकि इसका संकलन और संपादन वरीय पत्रकार अरविन्द शर्मा ने किया है। सियासत में सदाशयता विजय चौधरी द्वारा लिखित आलेखों के संग्रह पर आधारित है, जिसमें उनके व्यक्तित्व के विभिन्न पहलुओं यथा- मृदुभाषिता, शालीनता, व्यवहार कुशलता आदि झलकती है। पुस्तक में उनकी जीवन यात्रा यर्थाथवादी तरीके से वर्णित है। पुस्तक की भाषा सबके लिए सुग्राह्य है।
