NTPC concludes acquisition of govt’s stake in THDC, NEEPCO at Rs 11,500 cr

• National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) concluded the acquisition of Centre’s entire stake in two hydropower generating firms, Tehri Hydro Power Complex (THDC) India and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), at Rs 11,500 crore.

• Under the deal, NTPC acquired the latter’s 74.496 % equity stake in THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) for Rs 7,500 crore & its 100% equity in North-Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPC) for Rs 4,000 crore respectively.

एनटीपीसी ने टीएचडीसी और नीपको को खरीदा, सरकार को मिले 11,500 करोड़ रुपए

सरकार ने दो बिजली कंपनियों का रणनीतिक विनिवेश कर 11,500 करोड़ रुपए जुटाए। इन दोनों सरकारी कंपनियों के नाम हैं टीएचडीसी और एनईईपीसीओ (नीपको)। इन दोनों कंपनियों का अधिग्रहण एनटीपीसी ने किया है। इसके साथ ही विनिवेश से सरकार की कुल कमाई चालू कारोबारी साल में बढ़कर 46,500 करोड़ रुपए पर पहुंच गई। चालू कारोबारी साल में सरकार ने विनिवेश से 1.05 लाख करोड़ रुपए कमाने का लक्ष्य रखा था। हालांकि संशोधित अनुमान में इसे घटाकर 65,000 करोड़ रुपए कर दिया गया है।

केंद्र ने टीएचडीसी में अपनी 74.49 फीसदी और नीपको में 100 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी बेची

सरकार को टीएचडीसी बेचकर 7,500 करोड़ और नीपको बेचकर 4,000 करोड़ रुपए मिले। टीएचडीसी में सरकार ने अपनी 74.49 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी बेची। नीपको में सरकार ने अपनी 100 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी बेच दी है। आर्थिक मामलों की मंत्रिमंडलीय समिति ने नवंबर 2019 में नॉर्थ ईस्टर्न इलेक्ट्रिक पावर कॉरपोरेशन (नीपको) और टीएचडीसी में अपनी हिस्सेदारी एनटीपीसी को बेचे जाने की मंजूरी दी थी।

समाजवादी पार्टी के राज्यसभा सदस्य व पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री बेनी प्रसाद वर्मा का लखनऊ में निधन

पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री व प्रदेश सरकार में मंत्री रह चुके समाजवादी नेता बेनी प्रसाद वर्मा का शुक्रवार को शाम साढ़े छह बजे निधन हो गया। तबीयत खराब होने पर शुक्रवार दोपहर दो बजे उन्हें लखनऊ के मेदांता अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था। 'बेनी बाबू' के नाम से प्रसिद्ध वर्मा समाजवादी पार्टी के संस्थापक सदस्यों में थे और मुलायम सिंह यादव के निकटस्थ माने जाते थे। बेनी प्रसाद वर्मा समाजवादी पार्टी के राज्यसभा सदस्य थे। उनके निधन पर मुलायम व सपा अध्यक्ष अखिलेश समेत कई नेताओं ने शोक जताया है।

केंद्र में इस्पात मंत्री रह चुके 79 वर्षीय बुजुर्ग समाजवादी नेता बेनी प्रसाद वर्मा को डेढ़ माह में दो बार इलाज के लिए भर्ती कराया गया जा चुका था। वह सांस समेत कई बीमारियों से पीड़ित थे। मेदांता अस्पताल लखनऊ के मेडिकल डायरेक्टर डॉ. राकेश कपूर के मुताबिक करीब डेढ़ माह से उनका उपचार चल रहा था। उन्हें पैंक्रिटाइटिस की समस्या थी। डॉक्टरों ने पैंक्रियाज में कैंसर की संभावना जताई थी। वह गठिया के साथ-साथ गुर्दे की बीमारी से भी पीड़ित थे। शुक्रवार दोपहर वह बेहोशी की हालत में लाए गए थे, डॉक्टरों ने काफी प्रयास किया मगर, शाम साढ़े छह बजे उनका निधन हो गया।

• BJP politician Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on March 23, 2020. He has been appointed for the fourth time.

• This comes after the Madhya Pradesh chief minister (ex) Kamal Nath resigned from his post on March 20, 2020, as his government fell short of the majority mark.

• The trigger of the downfall of Congress in Madhya Pradesh was Jyotiraditya M. Scindia leaving the Congress on 11 March, taking with him 22 MLAs.

IOC becomes 1st company to begin supply of BS-VI fuel across India

• India’s biggest oil firm, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has started supplying BS-VI fuel across India. With this, Indian Oil Corporation Limited has become 1st company to begin supply of BS-VI fuel across its 28,000 petrol pumps.

• The Government of India has set 01st April 2020 as the deadline to start the supply of BS-VI emission compliant fuels. Therefore, from 01st April 2020, India will become the part of select league of nations which are using cleanest petrol and diesel across the country to cut vehicular emissions.

India-Belgium extradition agreement

• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Extradition Treaty between India and Belgium.

• The new treaty between India and Belgium will replace the pre-independence treaty signed between Britain and Belgium in the year 1901, which was also applicable to India before independence.

• According to the treaty, each party consents to the extradition of a person from the other party who is accused of an extradition offence in the border area of his or her country.

UBS predicts India’s FY21 real GDP growth rate at 4%

• UBS Securities has cut India’s growth forecast for FY21 to 4% from the previous 5.1%. The decrease is due to the coronavirus outbreak.

• UBS predicts India to grow at 4.8% in FY20.

S&P predicts Indias GDP growth forecast for FY21 at 5.2%; FY22- 6.9%; FY23 and FY24 at 7%

• S&P Global Ratings has revised its GDP Growth rate projection for India for FY21 from 6.5% earlier to 5.2%. This is due to the coronavirus outbreak.

• The GDP projection for the following financial years as per S&P is as follows:

• 2021-22 (FY22)- 6.9%

• 2022-23 (FY23)- 7%

• 2023-24 (FY24)- 7%.

• India has been ranked at 120 position in the 2020 Index of Economic Freedom published by Heritage Foundation Index. The index has been topped by Singapore.

• Hong Kong is on second in the ranking followed by New Zealand on the third. North Korea is at the last position at 180th place. Though there are 6 countries that are not ranked.

• The Index was first published in 1995 and Hong Kong has topped the charts ever since. This is the first time that Hong Kong has been replaced from the 1st position.

भारत में IOC, BS-VI ईंधन की आपूर्ति करने वाली होगी पहली कंपनी

भारत की सबसे बड़ी तेल कंपनी इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड ने पूरे देश में BS-VI ईंधन की आपूर्ति करना शुरू कर दिया है। इसके साथ ही इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड अपने 28,000 पेट्रोल पंपों पर BS-VI ईंधन की आपूर्ति शुरू करने वाली भारत की पहली कंपनी बन गई है। सरकार ने BS-VI उत्सर्जन अनुरूप ईंधन की आपूर्ति शुरू करने की समय सीमा 01 अप्रैल 2020 निर्धारित की है। भारत 01 अप्रैल 2020 से उन देशों चुनिंदा के ग्रुप में शामिल हो जाएगा उत्सर्जन में कटौती करने के लिए देश भर में वाहनों के लिए सबसे स्वच्छ पेट्रोल और डीजल का उपयोग कर रहे हैं। दिल्ली में यह समय सीमा अप्रैल 2019 तक भारत सरकार द्वारा लगाई गई थी।

BS (Bharat Satge) -VI ग्रेड ईंधन दुनिया का सबसे साफ ईंधन है जिसमें सल्फर का प्रति मिलियन 10 हिस्सा है। भारत स्टेज- VI (BS-VI) में केवल 10 पीपीएम की सल्फर मात्रा है और जो उत्सर्जन मानक सीएनजी के समान अच्छे हैं। भारत में 01 अप्रैल, 2020 से वाहनों के उत्सर्जन की जांच करने के प्रयास में इसे अनिवार्य कर दिया गया है, जो प्रमुख शहरों में प्रदूषण के प्रमुख कारणों में से एक है।

मोदी सरकार ने बेल्जियम के साथ प्रत्यर्पण संधि के प्रस्ताव को दी स्वीकृति

केंद्रीय कैबिनेट ने भारत और बेल्जियम के बीच प्रस्तावित प्रत्यर्पण संधि पर मुहर लगा दी। इस संधि के अमल में आने से दोनों देश अपने यहां अपराध करके फरार हुए भगोड़ों को एक-दूसरे को सौंप सकेंगे। कैबिनेट ने यह निर्णय शुक्रवार को लिया, शनिवार को इसकी घोषणा हुई है।

प्रत्यर्पण संधि में उन्हीं अपराधों के आरोपियों को लिया-दिया जाता है जिनके लिए कानून में एक साल या इससे अधिक की सजा का प्रावधान होता है। संधि में शामिल देश की अदालत प्रत्यर्पण की अर्जी पर विचार करने के बाद फैसला किया।

Defence Ministry signs Rs 880 crore agreement for light machine guns with Israel

• Union Defence Ministry recently signed Rs 880 crore capital acquisition contract with the Israel Weapons Industries (IWI) for over 16000 light machine guns.

• As per the contract, the Israeli firm will provide Negev 7.62x51 mm light machine guns to the Armed Forces of India. Several countries are already using these guns.

• The reason for her resignation is to accept the role as a full time Chairperson and CEO for the India operations of Salesforce, USA, the global giant in customer-relationship management (CRM) service.

India becomes third largest electricity producer in the world

• India has become the third-largest electricity producer in the world, as its power generation has increased to 34% by 2017 compared to seven years ago.

• Now, the country produces more energy than Japan and Russia seven years ago, compared to India, which were installing 27% and 8.77% more power generation capacity respectively.

• According to a report by India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), a trust set up by the Ministry of Commerce, electricity generation stood at 1,003.525 billion units from April 2017 to January 2018.

इजरायल से खरीदी जाएंगी 16,479 एलएमजी, 880 करोड़ में खरीदी जाएंगी दुनिया की श्रेष्ठतम मशीनगन

भारत सरकार ने इजरायल की फर्म इजरायल वेपंस इंडस्ट्रीज (आइडब्ल्यूआइ) के साथ 880 करोड़ रुपये में 16,479 लाइट मशीन गन (एलएमजी) की खरीद का सौदा किया है। प्रति मिनट 850 फायर करने वाला यह हथियार दुनिया की सर्वश्रेष्ठ मशीनगनों में शुमार है। रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह की स्वीकृति के बाद सौदे पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए हैं। इजरायल के रामात हाशैरोन शहर स्थित कारखाने से 7.62 एमएम कैलिबर की नेगेव एलएमजी भारतीय सुरक्षा बलों को उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।

महज साढ़े सात किलोग्राम वजन वाली इस एलएमजी का इस्तेमाल हेलीकॉप्टर, छोटे समुद्री जहाजों और जमीनी लड़ाई में आसानी से किया जा सकेगा। इस पर लगे टेलीस्कोप से निशाना लेकर महज एक गोली दागकर दुश्मन का काम तमाम किया जा सकता है और ऑटोमैटिक मोड में ब‌र्स्ट खोलकर दुश्मनों पर कहर बरपाया जा सकता है।

ग्रीस से टोक्यो पहुंची ओलंपिक मशाल, बंद दरवाजे में हुई सेरेमनी

ग्रीस ने कोरोना वायरस महामारी के कारण ओलंपिक को स्थगित करने की अपीलों के बीच गुरुवार को यहां बंद दरवाजों के अंदर आयोजित किए गए समारोह में टोक्यो 2020 के आयोजकों को ओलंपिक मशाल सौंपी। दर्शकों की गैरमौजूदगी में ओलंपिक जिम्नास्ट चैंपियन लेफ्टेरिस पेट्रोनियास ने मशाल लेकर दौड़ लगाई, जबकि ओलंपिक पोल वॉल्ट चैंपियन कैटरीना स्टेफनिडी ने पैनथैनेसिक स्टेडियम के अंदर ओलंपिक 'अग्निकुंड को प्रज्ज्वलित किया।

इसी स्टेडियम में 1896 में पहले आधुनिक ओलंपिक खेल हुए थे। इसके बाद यह मशाल टोक्यो 2020 के प्रतिनिधि नाओको इमोतो को सौंप दी गई। इमोतो तैराक हैं और उन्होंने 1996 अटलांटा ओलंपिक खेलों में हिस्सा लिया था।

यूनिसेफ की प्रतिनिधि इमोतो को आखिरी क्षणों में नियुक्त किया गया क्योंकि वो ग्रीस में रहती हैं ओर उन्हें जापान से यात्रा करने की जरूरत नहीं पड़ी। पिछले सप्ताह प्राचीन ओलंपिया में मशाल प्रज्जवलित करने का समारोह भी दर्शकों के बिना आयोजित किया गया था।

नियुक्तिया और इस्तीफे

पूर्व एसबीआई प्रमुख अरुंधति भट्टाचार्य ने क्रिसिल बोर्ड से दिया इस्तीफा

क्रिसिल ने गुरुवार को कहा कि भारतीय स्टेट बैंक की पिछली अध्यक्ष अरुंधति भट्टाचार्य ने 15 अप्रैल को कंपनी के स्वतंत्र निदेशक के रूप में अपना इस्तीफा सौंप दिया है।

अपने इस्तीफे में अरुंधति ने संकेत दिया है कि उनके इस्तीफे का कारण एक अन्य कंपनी में चेयरपर्सन और सीईओ के रूप में पूर्णकालिक भूमिका स्वीकार करने का उनका निर्णय है,

क्रिसिल लिमिटेड ने बीएसई को फाइलिंग में कहा, "कंपनी के एक स्वतंत्र निदेशक भट्टाचार्य ने कंपनी के निदेशक के रूप में अपना इस्तीफा सौंप दिया है, जो 15 अप्रैल, 2020 को लागू होगा।"

उन्‍होने पुष्टि की कि उनके इस्तीफे में बताए गए कारण के अलावा कोई अन्य भौतिक कारण नहीं है। भट्टाचार्य ने अपने त्याग पत्र में कहा, "मैं सलाह देना चाहता हूं कि मैंने सेल्सफोर्स, यूएसए के भारत संचालन के लिए चेयरपर्सन और सीईओ के रूप में पूर्णकालिक कार्यकारी भूमिका स्वीकार करने का फैसला किया है।", मुझे अपने मौजूदा गैर-कार्यकारी असाइनमेंट को बंद करने की जरूरत है।

भारत विश्‍व में तीसरा सबसे बड़ा बिजली उत्पादक बना-

• भारत दुनिया में तीसरा सबसे बड़ा बिजली उत्पादक बन गया है, क्योंकि इसकी बिजली उत्पादन सात साल पहले की तुलना में 2017 तक बढ़कर 34% हो गई है।

• अब, भारत की तुलना में देश सात साल पहले जापान और रूस की तुलना में अधिक ऊर्जा का उत्पादन करता है, जो क्रमशः 27% और 8.77% अधिक बिजली उत्पादन क्षमता स्थापित कर रहे थे।

• भारत ब्रांड इक्विटी फाउंडेशन (IBEF) की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, वाणिज्य मंत्रालय द्वारा स्थापित एक ट्रस्ट, बिजली उत्पादन अप्रैल 2017 से जनवरी 2018 तक 1,003.525 बिलियन यूनिट था।

विदेशी कंपनियों के रिश्वत देने के मामलों में भारत का 5वां स्थान

विदेशी कंपनियों द्वारा घरेलू आधिकारियों को घूस देने पर रोक की कार्रवाइ 2019 में वैश्विक स्तर पर धीमी पड़ी, लेकिन भारत इस तरह की कार्रवाई करने वाले देशों की सूची में संख्या के हिसाब से ब्राजील के बाद दूसरे स्थान पर रहा।वैश्विक स्तर रिश्वतखोरी के मामलों की निगरानी करने वाले गैर सरकारी संगठन ट्रेस इंटरनेशनल की बृहस्पतिवार को जारी 10वीं वैश्विक वार्षिक प्रवर्तन रिपोर्ट में यह जानकारी सामने आई है। रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक विदेशियों द्वारा स्थानीय अधिकारियों को कथित तौर पर रिश्वत दिए जाने के सबसे ज्यादा मामले चीन में सामने आए हैं। इसके बाद इस सूची में इराक, ब्राजील, नाइजीरिया और भारत का स्थान है।

रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि विदेशियों द्वारा घरेलू अधिकारियों को रिश्वत देने के मामलों की जांच 2019 में दुनियाभर में धीमी पड़ी है। ट्रेस ने कहा कि ऐसे सबसे अधिक मामलों की जांच ब्राजील में की गई। इसके बाद भारत और चीन का स्थान है।विश्व और अमेरिका दोनों के स्तर पर विदेशी अधिकारियों के रिश्वत मामलों की जांच की संख्या घटी है। अमेरिका में सालाना आधार पर इसमें 19 प्रतिशत गिरावट दर्ज की गई है।

• The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) reduced the interest rate on the Employees Provident Fund to 8.5 percent for 2019-20. The EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT) has taken this decision for its six crore users.

• CBT is the apex decision-making body associated with EPFO. The interest rate on the provident fund for the financial year 2018-19 was 8.65 percent.

कंपनी संशोधन विधेयक-2020 आज लोकसभा में पेश किया गया। वित्‍त राज्‍यमंत्री अनुराग ठाकुर ने इसे सदन में पेश करते हुए कहा कि इस कानून से देश में नैतिकतापूर्वक और ईमानदारी से कारोबार करने में मदद मिलेगी।

कांग्रेस, तृणमूल कांग्रेस और बीजू जनता दल ने विधेयक का विरोध करते हुए कहा कि सरकार अस्‍थाई नीतियों पर काम कर रही है और यह विधेयक केवल कंपनियों के हित में है, क्‍योंकि इसमें उनकी सामाजिक जिम्‍मेदारी को कम किया गया है।

वित्‍त राज्‍यमंत्री ने विपक्ष के इन आरोपों को खारिज करते हुए कहा कि विधेयक में कंपनियों की सामाजिक जिम्‍मेदारी की प्रक्रिया को आसान बनाया गया है और इसमें कमी करने की कोई योजना नहीं है।

ईपीएफओ ने ब्याज दरो में 8.5 प्रतिशत की कटौती की

• कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि संगठन (EPFO) ने कर्मचारी भविष्य निधि पर ब्याज दर को घटाकर 2019-20 के लिए 8.5 प्रतिशत कर दिया। ईपीएफओ के केंद्रीय न्यासी बोर्ड (सीबीटी) ने अपने छह करोड़ उपयोगकर्ताओं के लिए यह निर्णय लिया है।

• सीबीटी ईपीएफओ से जुड़ा सर्वोच्च निर्णय लेने वाला निकाय है। वित्त वर्ष 2018-19 के लिए भविष्य निधि पर ब्याज दर 8.65 प्रतिशत थी।

भारत प्रत्‍येक वर्ष 16 मार्च को राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण दिवस मनाता है। भारत सरकार देश के लोगों को टीकाकरण के महत्व को बताने के लिए प्रत्‍येक वर्ष राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण दिवस मनाती है। वर्ष 1995 में भारत में पोलियो के खिलाफ एक ओरल वैक्सीन की पहली खुराक दी गई थी। भारत 1995 से पल्स पोलियो कार्यक्रम का अवलोकन कर रहा है। राष्ट्रीय टीकाकरण दिवस मनाने के पीछे मुख्य उद्देश्य सभी लोगों को पोलियो से बचाव के लिए जागरूक करना और इसे पूरी तरह से दुनिया से मिटाना है।

India’s 1st digital parcel locker service launched in West Bengal

• The Department of Posts, Kolkata (West Bengal circle), has launched free digital parcel locker service in 2 post offices Nabadiganta IT post office of Salt Lake City & post office in New Town’s Action Area.

• Under this service, customers will be able to collect their parcel from the post office according to their convenience.

• This facility is quite popular in European countries but is starting for the first time in India. This service has been done for such people of working-class, who do not have to receive any parcel at home. Such people can take their parcel and letters addressed to them from the kiosks at 24×7.

UP govt launches three schemes for skill development in the state

Uttar Pradesh government has launched three ambitious schemes for skill development and employment generation for youths in the state. The three schemes are Kaushal Satrang, Yuva Hub and apprenticeship scheme in Lucknow. UP government also announced to depute ”Arogya Mitras” at all primary health centres to inform people about govt health schemes.

Kaushal Satrang Scheme

• Kaushal Satrang scheme is a skill development scheme with 7 components to help provide job opportunities to the youth.Under this scheme, each district will organize Mega job fair.

Yuva Hub’ Scheme

Yuva Hub’ scheme was allocated Rs 1,200 crore in the state budget and it aims at providing employment to thousands of skilled youth by assisting in project concept and financial help for one year of operation. It will also facilitate setting up of 30,000 startups in the state. IIM (Indian Institutes of Management) Lucknow is the knowledge partner of this scheme.

CM apprenticeship scheme

CM apprenticeship scheme will provide a stipend of Rs 2500 to the youth of the state.

Lava launches World’s first ‘no internet’ payment service in India

• Smartphone manufacturer Lava, has launched a payment app named Lava Pay which doesn’t requires an active internet connection for fund transfer.

• Lava claims it to be the world’s first’no internet’ payment service. The app will help boost Digital India initiative of the Government as well as bringing financial inclusivity for a large population of the county.

Govt appoints new board of directors for Yes Bank

• The government of India has notified the reconstruction scheme for Yes Bank which has been placed under moratorium by Reserve Bank of India. The moratorium will be lifted on March 18.

• Under the scheme, Prashant Kumar has been appointed as MD and CEO of Yes Bank. He is a former chief financial officer at State Bank of India.Sunil Mehta has been appointed as the non-executive chairman of Yes Bank. He is the former non-executive chairman of state-owned Punjab National Bank.Mahesh Krishnamurthy and Atul Bheda will be the non-executive directors.

• Under the reconstruction scheme, SBI, will hold up to 49 per cent in Yes Bank. SBI has approved an investment of Rs 7,250 crore (725 crore shares at Rs 10 each).Apart from this, 4 private banks will also chip in money in Yes Bank. These are- HDFC- Rs 1,000 Crore; ICICI Bank- Rs 1,000 Crore; Axis Bank- Rs 600 Crore; Kotak Mahindra Bank- Rs 500 Crore.

RBI reduces Limits on exposure to group of borrowers for UCB to 25%

• The Reserve Bank of India has reduced the prudential exposure limits for Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs) for group of connected borrowers/parties from 40% to 25%.

• Primary (Urban) Co-operative Banks (UCBs) were permitted to have exposures up to 15 per cent and 40 per cent of their capital funds to a single borrower and a group of borrowers, respectively.

भारत की पहली डिजिटल पार्सल लॉकर सेवा पश्चिम बंगाल में शुरू की गई

डाक विभाग, कोलकाता (पश्चिम बंगाल सर्कल), ने 2 डाकघरों में निशुल्क डिजिटल पार्सल लॉकर सेवा, साल्ट लेक सिटी के आईटी पोस्ट ऑफिस और न्यू टाउन के एक्शन एरिया में पोस्ट ऑफिस में शुरू की है। इस सेवा के तहत ग्राहक अपनी सुविधा के अनुसार डाक घर से अपना पार्सल एकत्र कर सकेंगे।

यह सुविधा यूरोपीय देशों में काफी लोकप्रिय है लेकिन भारत में पहली बार शुरू हो रही है। यह सेवा कामकाजी वर्ग के ऐसे लोगों के लिए की गई है, जिन्हें घर पर कोई पार्सल प्राप्त नहीं करना है। ऐसे लोग अपने पार्सल और उनसे संबोधित पत्रों को 24 × 7 पर कियोस्क से ले सकते हैं।

डिजिटल पार्सल लॉकर सेवा कैसे काम करती है?

एक ग्राहक को एक विशिष्ट लॉकर नंबर दिया जाएगा जहां पोस्ट इंडिया पोस्ट पार्सल छोड़ देगा। पार्सल को डिजिटल पार्सल लॉकर में डाल दिया जाएगा और संबंधित ग्राहक को एक ओटीपी नंबर के साथ एक एसएमएस जारी किया जाएगा। यह पार्सल सात दिनों तक ग्राहकों के लिए सुलभ रहेगी, जिसके दौरान वे दिन के किसी भी समय पार्सल एकत्र कर सकते हैं।

यूपी सरकार ने राज्य में कौशल विकास के लिए शुरू की तीन योजनाएं

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने राज्य में युवाओं के लिए कौशल विकास और रोजगार सृजन के लिए तीन महत्वाकांक्षी योजनाएं शुरू की हैं। तीन योजनाएँ लखनऊ में कौशल सतरंग, युवा हब और शिक्षुता योजना हैं। यूपी सरकार ने सरकार की स्वास्थ्य योजनाओं के बारे में लोगों को सूचित करने के लिए सभी प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्रों पर '' आरोग्य मित्र'' की भी घोषणा की।

1. कौशल सतरंग योजना

कौशल सतरंग में सात घटक होंगे जो युवाओं को अवसर प्रदान करेंगे। In this regard, यूपी सरकार ने राज्य के युवाओं को विश्व स्तर की प्रतियोगिताओं के लिए प्रशिक्षित करने के लिए 2 लाख युवाओं के रोजगार के लिए IIT (भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान)-कानपुर और अन्य प्लेसमेंट एजेंसियों के साथ समझौता किया है।

2. युवा हब योजना

युवा हब योजना को राज्य के बजट में 1,200 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए गए थे और इसका उद्देश्य परियोजना की अवधारणा और संचालन के एक वर्ष के लिए वित्तीय मदद करके हजारों कुशल युवाओं को रोजगार प्रदान करना था। यह राज्य में 30,000 स्टार्टअप स्थापित करने की सुविधा भी प्रदान करेगा। IIM (भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान) लखनऊ इस योजना का ज्ञान भागीदार है।

3. मुख्यमंत्री अपरेंटिसशिप योजना

मुख्यमंत्री अपरेंटिसशिप योजना राज्य के युवाओं को 2500 रुपये का वजीफा प्रदान करेगी।

लावा ने भारत में विश्‍व की पहली ’नो इंटरनेट’ भुगतान सेवा शुरू की

• स्मार्टफोन निर्माता कंपनी लावा ने लावा पे नाम से एक भुगतान ऐप लॉन्च किया है जिसके लिए फंड ट्रांसफर के लिए सक्रिय इंटरनेट कनेक्शन की आवश्यकता नहीं है।

• लावा के अनुसार यह विश्‍व की पहली इंटरनेट 'भुगतान सेवा है। यह ऐप सरकार की डिजिटल इंडिया पहल को बढ़ावा देने के साथ-साथ काउंटी की बड़ी आबादी के लिए वित्तीय समावेशिता को बढ़ावा देने में मदद करेगा।

यस बैंक के नए प्रबंध निदेशक और सीईओ बने प्रशांत कुमार

सरकार ने पूंजी संकट से जूझ रहे निजी क्षेत्र के यस बैंक की पुनर्गठन योजना को अधिसूचित कर दिया है। साथ ही वर्तमान प्रशासक प्रशांत कुमार को प्रबंध निदेशक, सीईओ नियुक्त किया गया है। सरकारी अधिसूचना में कहा गया है कि यस बैंक पर लगी रोक 18 मार्च की शाम छह बजे से हटा ली जायेगी। इस अधिसूचना के मुताबिक बैंक खातों से निकासी पर लगी रोक को अगले कार्य दिवस में हटा लिया जाएगा। ग्राहकों के लिए 3 अप्रैल तक के लिए 50,000 रुपये तक निकासी सीमा तय की गई है।

बता दें कि भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने इस महीने की शुरुआत में यस बैंक के निदेशक मंडल की जगह पर प्रशासक नियुक्ति की थी। साथ ही बैंक खाते से 50,000 रुपये तक की निकासी की सीमा तय करने के साथ अन्य प्रतिबंध लगाए गए थे। आरबीआई के इस फैसले से जमाकर्ताओं को अपनी पूंजी को निकालने में काफी मशक्कत का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।

RBI ने यूसीबी के लिए जोखिम सीमा को घटाकर 25% किया

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने जुड़े हुए कर्जदारों / दलों के समूह के लिए प्राथमिक (शहरी) सहकारी बैंकों (यूसीबी) के लिए विवेकपूर्ण जोखिम सीमा को 40% से घटाकर 25% कर दिया है।

• प्राथमिक (शहरी) सहकारी बैंकों (यूसीबी) को क्रमशः एक उधारकर्ता और उधारकर्ताओं के एक समूह को अपनी पूंजीगत निधि के 15 प्रतिशत और 40 प्रतिशत तक की अनुमति दी गई थी।

Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 approved by Parliament

• Indian Parliament recently approved Mineral Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 with an aim to promote the Indian coal and mining sector along with the ease of doing business in this sector.

• With the increase in coal production, India’s dependence on imports will be reduced. Earlier, the Bill was passed by Rajya Sabha.

Parliament passes Vivad se Vishwas Bill 2020

• The Upper House of Indian Parliament, Rajya Sabha passed the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Bill, 2020 and sent it back to the Lok Sabha on March 13, 2020.

• The money bill seeks to resolve over 4 lakh direct tax cases pending in Indian courts.

Government allows without referral treatment to CGHS beneficiaries over 75 years

• Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan has clarified that the CGHS beneficiaries aged 75 years and above can take the facility of treatment without a referral.

• He also said that only non-emergency situations will require approval for treatments and tests that are not listed.

SBI removes minimum balance charges from all savings bank accounts

• The State Bank of India has waived off the minimum balance charges on all savings bank accounts. SBI has waive charges for non-maintenance of Average Monthly Balance (AMB) for all 44.51 crore savings bank accounts.

• Earlier, SBI was levying a penalty of Rs 5 to Rs 15 along with taxes on non-maintenance of average monthly balance of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 in metro, semi urban and rural areas respectively

SpiceJet to set up warehousing & distribution facility at GAHSL

• An Indian low-cost airline, SpiceJet has signed a pact with GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Limited (GHASL). According to the pact, SpiceJet will set up warehousing, distribution and trading facility in the aerospace and industrial park of GHASL.

• “Ready-to-Use” industrial infrastructure is offered by the park with the flexibility of choosing land within SEZ for business purposes.

India Ranks World’s 2nd Biggest Arms Importer While Placed at 23rd in Exporters List: SIPRI Report

• The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has released its annual “Trends in international arms transfers 2019” report to determine the International transfers of major arms during the five-year period 2015–19.

• As per the data, India was the second largest arms importer in the world during the period 2015-19. Russia was the largest supplier of arms to India.

• Saudi Arabia was the largest arms importer in the world during the same period.

India ranks second in Global Animal Protection Index 2020

• India gets the second rank in Global Animal Protection Index 2020. This Index was released by International animal welfare charity “World Animal Protection” released.

• The Animal Protection Index (API) aims to showcase where countries are doing well, and where they fall short on animal welfare policy and legislation.

• The index ranks countries from A (being the highest score) to G (being the weakest score) according to their policy and legislation. India has attained a C ranking in the index.

India ranks 46th in ‘Inclusive Internet Index 2020’

• India secured 46th rank in the Inclusive Internet Index 2020 released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Pakistan got the 76th rank on the list.

• In this index, Sweden ranks first, New Zealand is second and America is third. The worst countries are Burundi (100), Liberia (99), Madagascar (98), Malawi (97) and Burkina Faso (96).

• India is at the top among South Asian countries followed by Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. This list includes 100 countries of the world and ranks are scaled from 1 (best) to 100 (worst).

फेसबुक इंडिया ने भारत में महिला उद्यमिता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अपनी कॉर्पोरेट सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी (सीएसआर) पहल फेसबुक "प्रगति" लॉन्च की है। फेसबुक प्रगति N/Core (द/न्यूड सेंटर फॉर सोशल इनोवेशन) द्वारा संचालित है।

इस पहल से काम की शुरुआत करने वाली महिलाओं के लिए उद्यमिता शुरू करने और भारत में महिलाओं के बीच जागरूकता और प्रौद्योगिकी को अपनाने में मदद मिलेगी। फेसबुक प्रगति द्वारा प्रत्येक गैर-लाभकारी संस्था को अपना काम करने के लिए 50 लाख तक के चार अनुदान प्रदान किए जाएंगे। कार्यक्रम गैर-मुनाफे के भीतर दूसरी-स्तरीय क्षमता के निर्माण पर काम करेगा, जिसमें मार्केटिंग, मानव संसाधन और प्रौद्योगिकी के कार्यात्मक संरक्षक की एक श्रृंखला होगी। स्थिरता लाने के अलावा, यह संस्थापकों को रणनीतिक विकास पर समय बिताने का अवसर प्रदान करेगा, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप तेजी से वृद्धि संभव हो पाएगी।

संसद ने खनिज पदार्थ कानून (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2020 पारित किया

संसद ने आज खान और खनिज (विकास और नियंत्रण) कानून 1957 और कोयला खान (विशेष प्रावधान) कानून, 2015 में संशोधन करते हुए खनिज पदार्थ कानून (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2020 को मंजूरी दे दी। राज्‍यसभा ने आज इस विधेयक को पारित किया, जबकि लोकसभा 6 मार्च, 2020 को इसे पारित कर चुकी है। खनिज पदार्थ कानून (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2020 भारतीय कोयला और खनन क्षेत्र विशेषकर कारोबार को सुगम बनाने को बढ़ावा देने के लिए एक नये युग की शुरुआत करेगा। केन्‍द्रीय कोयला और खान मंत्री श्री प्रल्‍हाद जोशी ने कहा कि इस विधेयक के पारित हो जाने से देश के खनन क्षेत्र में बदलाव आने के साथ कोयला उत्‍पादन बढ़ेगा और आयात पर निर्भरता कम होगी।

संशोधित प्रावधानों में स्‍पष्‍ट व्‍यवस्‍था है कि ऐसी कंपनियां जिनके पास भारत में कोयला खनन का पहले से अनुभव नहीं है और/अथवा उन्‍हें अन्‍य खनिज पदार्थों अथवा अन्‍य देशों में खनन का अनुभव है, वे कोयले/लिग्‍नाइट ब्‍लॉकों की नीलामी में भाग ले सकते हैं। इससे न केवल कोयला/लिग्‍नाइट ब्‍लॉक की नीलामियों में भागीदारी बढ़ेगी, बल्कि कोयला क्षेत्र में एफडीआई नीति के कार्यानवयन को सरल बनाया जा सकेगा।

अब, जो कंपनियां किसी विशिष्‍ट प्रकार के अंतिम इस्‍तेमाल में शामिल नहीं हैं, वे अनुसूची II और III कोयला खानों की नीलामी में भाग ले सकती हैं। अंतिम इस्‍तेमाल की बाधा हटने से विभिन्‍न उद्देश्‍यों जैसे अपने उपभोग, बिक्री अथवा किसी अन्‍य उद्देश्‍य, केंद्र सरकार द्वारा निर्दिष्‍ट कोयला खानों की नीलामी में व्‍यापक भागीदारी की अनुमति दी जा सकेगी।

विधेयक में कोयला/लिग्‍नाइट के लिए लाइसेंस और खनन पट्टे (पीएल-और-एमएल) की इजाजत देने की व्‍यवस्‍था है जिससे कोयला और लिग्‍नाइट ब्‍लॉकों की उपलब्‍धता बढ़ेगी और विस्‍तृत भौगोलिक वितरण में अलग-अलग ग्रेड के कोयला ब्‍लॉक आवंटन के लिए उपलब्‍ध होंगे।

प्रत्यक्ष कर विवादों के निपटारे के लिए संसद ने विवद से विश्वास विधेयक पारित किया

संसद ने 13 मार्च 2020 को प्रत्यक्ष कर विवादों के निपटारे के लिए विवद से विश्वास विधेयक पारित किया। 5 फरवरी 2020 को वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण द्वारा इस विधेयक को लोकसभा (निचले सदन) में पेश किया गया। लोकसभा ने इसे 4 मार्च 2020 को पारित कर दिया था।

उद्देश्य:

विधेयक का उद्देश्य विभिन्न ऋण वसूली न्यायाधिकरणों (डीआरटी) में लंबित मुकदमेबाजी को कवर करने की गुंजाइश का विस्तार करना है। यह उनके लंबित करों पर ब्याज और जुर्माना माफ करके चालू वित्त वर्ष के भीतर प्रत्यक्ष कर विवादों को निपटाने का अवसर प्रदान करेगा।

बैंक और अर्थव्‍यवस्‍था

SBI सभी बचत खातों के लिए न्यूनतम शेष लागत निकालता है

छोटे बचतकर्ताओं के लिए एक बड़ी राहत के रूप में, भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) ने औसत मासिक शेष राशि (एएमबी) नहीं रखने की लागत को माफ कर दिया है। इस छूट में भारत के सबसे बड़े ऋणदाताओं के सभी 44.51 करोड़ बचत खाते शामिल हैं।

भारत पहली बार वैश्विक हथियार निर्यातकों की सूची में शामिल हुआ है. भारत हथियारों के निर्यातक के मामले में 23वें स्थान पर है. विदेशों में हथियारों की बिक्री को बढ़ावा देने के सरकार के कदम से हथियारों के निर्यात के मामले में आने वाले सालों में भारत की रैंकिंग में तेजी से सुधार होने की संभावना है.

हथियारों की खरीद बिक्री पर शोध करने वाले संस्थान का कहना है कि अमेरिका ने पिछले पांच सालों में विश्वभर में एक तिहाई हथियार बेचे हैं. उसके बाद रूस और फ्रांस का नंबर है. रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि फ्रांसीसी हथियारों का निर्यात पांच वर्षों में अपने उच्चतम स्तर पर पहुंच गया है.

भारत को ग्लोबल एनिमल प्रोटेक्शन इंडेक्स 2020 में मिला दूसरा स्थान

हाल ही में जारी किए गए ग्लोबल एनिमल प्रोटेक्शन इंडेक्स 2020 में भारत को दूसरे स्थान पर रखा गया है। यह इंडेक्स अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पशु कल्याण चैरिटी "वर्ल्ड एनिमल प्रोटेक्शन" द्वारा जारी किया जाता है। एनिमल प्रोटेक्शन इंडेक्स (एपीआई) जारी करने का उद्देश्य अच्छा कर वाले देशों प्रोत्साहित करना और पशु कल्याण नीति और कानून में कमजोर देशों को उजागर करना हैं।

इंडेक्स के नियम और कानून के अनुसार देशों को A (अधिकतम स्कोर) से G (न्यूनतम स्कोर) होने के आधार रैंक दी जाती है। भारत को इस सूचकांक में C स्कोर दिया गया है। भारत को ये स्थान स्पेन, मैक्सिको, फ्रांस और न्यूजीलैंड के साथ दिया गया है। स्वीडन, यूनाइटेड किंगडम और ऑस्ट्रिया को अधिकतम स्कोर यानि A के साथ शीर्ष स्थान पर रखा गया है।

वर्ल्ड एनिमल प्रोटेक्शन ने 50 देशों के पशु कल्याण नीतियों और कानून का आकलन किया और जहां स्पष्ट रूप से पशु कल्याण कानूनों की कमी की पहचान की गई। यह तत्काल किए जाने वाले जरूरी सुधारों पर जोर दे रहा है। सूचकांक देशों को अच्छे पशु कल्याण प्रक्रियाओं जैसे कि जानवरों को स्वच्छ, स्वस्थ रखने और प्राकृतिक व्यवहार दर्शाने और उचित जगह पर रखने में मदद करेगा। इस सूची में शीर्ष स्थान पर हासिल करने वाले देशों में जानवरों की सुरक्षा के लिए मजबूत कानून हैं, हालांकि, ये कानून डेयरी पशुओं की सुरक्षा के लिए उतने सख्त नहीं हैं।

US Supreme Court allows controversial 'Remain in Mexico' asylum policy to stay:

• The Supreme Court of the United States directed on March 11, 2020 that the controversial "Remain in Mexico" asylum policy can continue to stay in effect till a proper legal resolution is reached.

• The order is a victory for the Trump administration, which has been pushing for the controversial policy to continue. The administration had warned that there would be a rush to the border if the policy was blocked by the courts.

• The “Remain in Mexico” asylum policy mandates the non-Mexican asylum seekers to return to Mexico as they await hearings in the United States.

Centre, Himachal Pradesh, World Bank sign $80 million loan agreement to boost agricultural productivity:

• The union government, state government of Himachal Pradesh and the World Bank signed an $80 million loan agreement on March 11, 2020 to boost agricultural productivity and improve water management practices in select gram panchayats.

• The integrated project will be implemented in 428-gram panchayats in 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh. The project is expected to benefit over 400,000 small farmers and pastoral communities.

Govt to launch Mahua-based alcoholic drink:

•Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) and National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) recently signed a memorandum for manufacturing of Mahua Nutribeverage.

• Mahua Nutribeverage will have high nutritional values with low alcohol (about 5 percent). It will be developed by Delhi-IIT and TRIFED. According to the reports, it will be available within next few months in various flavours.

• TRIFED and NRDC will manufacture mahua-based alcoholic beverage ‘Mahua Nutribeverage’ in the market within next months. According to the media reports, this beverage will be available in six fruit-based flavours. It will be available at price of Rs. 700 for a 750 ml. It is for the first time when Tribal Affairs Ministry is going to manufacture alcoholic beverages.

Odisha Government to Launch Separate dept for SHGs “Mission Shakti” dedicated to women:

• The government of Odisha under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that the state will launch an exclusive department for Self Help Group (SHGs) called “Mission Shakti” which will be dedicated to all women of the state.

• This will make Odisha, first state of the country to have a separate department dedicated to SHGs.

New Delhi to host an exhibition titled “Jallianwala Bagh”:

An exhibition titled “Jallianwala Bagh” is scheduled to be held in New Delhi. “Jallianwala Bagh” exhibition will be inaugurated by Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel on the occasion of 130th Foundation Day of National Archives of India (NAI).

National Conference on Women in Police and CAPFs held in New Delhi:

• Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani inaugurated the “National Conference on Women in Police and CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces)” in New Delhi.

GoI constitutes committee to decide modalities of Kisan Rail:

• The Union Government of India has constituted a committee to decide modalities of Kisan Rail. This committee has been formed under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare along with representatives of the Indian Railways.

• “Kisan Rail” is planned to be set up through the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode and will facilitate a cold supply chain to transport the perishable goods.

• Initiative of “Kisan Rail” was proposed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her budget speech of 2020-21 to set up a seamless National Cold Supply Chain for perishables like fish, milk and meat.

US to become India’s top trading partner, surpasses China:

• The United States has surpassed China to become India’s top trading partner. According to the Commerce Ministry data, the bilateral trade between the US and India stood at nearly 88 billion dollars in 2018-19 fiscal. During the period, India’s trade with China was at 1 billion dollars.

• Similarly, during April-December 2019-20, the bilateral trade between the US and India stood at 68 billion dollars against a nearly 65 billion dollars trade with China in the same period.

ASKDISHA : AI based chatbot launched by Indian Railway:

• Indian Railways had introduced the services of Artificial Intelligence based ASKDISHA chatbot in October 2018 for the benefit of the users of the ticketing website www.irctc.co.in and tourism website www.irctctourism.com of its PSU, Indian Railways Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC).

• The ASKDISHA Chatbot was initially launched in English language but in order to further enhance the customer services rendered and to further strengthen the services of the chatbot, IRCTC has now powered voice enabled ASKDISHA to converse with customers in Hindi language also in the e-ticketing site www.irctc.co.in. The customers can now ask queries to ASKDISHA in Hindi language by voice as well as text.

• The first-of-its-kind initiative by IRCTC is aimed at facilitating accessibility by answering users’ queries pertaining to various services offered to railway passengers. Since its initial launch, more than 150 million passengers have been benefited by ASKDISHA with 10 billion interactions for seeking help on reservation of tickets, cancellation, enquiry of refund status, fare, PNR search, train running status, enquiry about retiring rooms and tourism products.

• IRCTC plans to launch ASKDISHA in more languages along with many other additional features in the near future.

‘Thal Sena Bhawan’: New Army Headquarters foundation Laid by Rajnath Singh:

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of a new army headquarters building in Delhi Cantonment recently. This complex will be named as ‘Thal Sena Bhawan’. It will be constructed over 39 acres of land.

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that this army building will represent the Indian soldiers. He also said that these soldiers wanted India to become capable and empowered. Now their sacrifice has made India a powerful country and this building is dedicated to them. He also said that the building was needed for many years.

• This army building, to be built in 7.5 lakh square meters that will have 6014 offices that will include 1684 offices for military and civilian officers and 4330 offices for sub-staff. The new Army headquarters will also provide employment opportunities to the youth of India. It will be constructed as per the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) norms.

‘Happiness Class’ to be attended by Melania Trump:

• US First Lady Melania Trump along with the US President Donald Trump, on their maiden visit to India, will attend a ‘Happiness Class’ at a Government School based in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal led AAP Government’s flagship scheme of ‘Happiness Curriculum’ has won commendations from different corners of the globe.

• What is Happiness Curriculum?

Happiness Curriculum was launched in 2018 as a scheme to reinvent school education sector in Delhi Government Schools. 4 railway stations in Uttar Pradesh get new names:

• A move aimed at reviving the identity of the ancient city, Allahabad Junction will now be Prayagraj Junction, Allahabad City will now be known as Prayagraj Rambag, Allahabad Chhioki has been changed to Prayagraj Chheoki and the name of Prayagghat has been changed to Prayagraj Sangam.

• The names of the stations were changed by the central and the state government.

Mobile app for employees launched by Indian Railways:

• Indian Railways, Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav launched the HRMS (Human Resource Management System) mobile app, in which the employees can see the data related to their service and communicate with the administration for any changes.

• The app has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).

• The mobile app allows employees to view their historical data since their date of joining, including details related to increments, promotions, awards, transfers, postings, leave, training and retirement benefits.

• Scanned copies of their physical service record are also available in the app, which is an important milestone in computerisation of HR related functionalities in Indian Railways.

Central government approves merger of Bharti Infratel, Indus Towers: Sources:

• The Department of Telecom (DoT) on approved the merger of the country’s largest mobile tower company Indus Towers with Bharti Infratel,

• The combination of Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers will create a pan-India tower company with over 163,000 towers, operating across all 22 telecom service areas.

• The combined entity will be the largest tower company in the world outside China. Bharti Infratel and Vodafone hold 42 per cent stake each in Indus.

• Vodafone Idea holds 11.15 per cent stake in the mobile tower firm.

• As per the plans, the combined company, which would fully own the respective businesses of Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers, would change its name to Indus Towers Ltd and will continue to be listed on Indian stock exchanges.

Microsoft collaborated with SBI Foundation to upskill youth with disabilities for BFSI jobs:

• Microsoft has collaborated with SBI Foundation to create opportunities in the banking and financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector, for youth with disabilities.

• Under the initiative, the two organisations will upskill 500 youth for BFSI jobs across Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR. The programme will be driven in collaboration with various government agencies, industry skilling bodies and non-profits. As a part of this effort, both the companies will develop an AI-powered marketplace that will enable the BFSI industry to better connect with people having disabilities (to upskill them).

• Dr. Niti Kumar, Senior Scientist of Molecular Parasitology and Immunology Division, CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow, has received the SERB Women's Excellence Award-2020. She will be awarded by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind during the National Science Day celebration at Vigyan Bhawan on February 28, 2020.

• The award is given to women scientists under the age of 40, who have received honors from various national academies. Women researchers will be assisted by Science and Engineering Research Board of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, with a grant of Rs 5 lakh per year for 3 years.

• Dr. Niti Kumar’s research group is trying to understand the protein quality control machinery in malaria parasites to explore alternative drugs for malaria. Dr. Niti Kumar has received several awards and honors like Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award (DBT-IYBA 2015), INSA Medal for Young Scientist (2010) by Indian National Academy of Sciences and Marie Curie Early Stage Research Fellowship by European Union under 6th Framework Programme (2005-2006).

Shooters now permitted by Home Ministry to keep upto 12 firearms for shooting practice:

• The Union Home Ministry has amended Arms Act, 1959 and the Arms Rules, 2016 to increase the number of firearms and ammunition kept by the Indian shooters for their practice during the year. As per the Home Ministry, shooting is an important Olympic sport in India and Indian shooters have excelled in international competitions.

• Key Amendments in Arms Act, 1959

According to the new rules, international medalists and renowned shooters are now allowed to have additional weapons up to a total of twelve under the exempted category. Earlier they were allowed to keep only seven weapons.
In case a shooter is renowned in one event, he will be allowed to keep a maximum of eight weapons. If he is renowned in two events then he can keep maximum ten weapons. Earlier, the permit was four and seven respectively.
If a shooter is known in more than two events, then he will now be allowed to keep a maximum of twelve firearms unlike earlier seven.
For junior target shooters or aspiring shooters, the Home Ministry has decided to amend the rules to allow them to possess two firearms of any category, as against earlier one.
The shooters will now also be entitled to possess two firearms as normal citizens under provisions of the Arms Act, 1959.

• Key Amendments in Arms Rules, 2016

The Home Ministry has amended the provision under Rule 40 of the Arms Rules, 2016, as per which, the quantity of ammunition that can be purchased by the shooters for practice during a year has been increased considerably.
Under the amended provisions, the quantity of ammunition that shooters can purchase for .22 LR rifle/pistol has been increased to 5000 instead of 1000, for Pistol/Revolver the quantity has been increased to 2000 instead of 600 and for shotgun calibers, the quantity has been increased to 5000 instead 500.
The Ministry has also made other necessary amendments in the Arms Rules, 2016 by amending the Arms Act, 1959, under the Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019.
The amendments clarify that no license will be required for Indian citizens for acquisitions and possession of small arms falling under the category of curio.
However, the shooters will be required to carry appropriate licenses, as prescribed to use, carry or transport such small arms. No ammunition can be sold for use without the endorsement of such firearms in the prescribed license of the owner.
Further, the maximum number of firearms to be possessed by any person has been reduced to two from earlier three.
Those who have three firearms have been given the facility to retain any two of them and deposit the remaining firearm by December 13, 2020.

• Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad Resigns: Mahathir Mohamad – the Prime Minister of Malaysia, submitted his resignation to the country’s king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah on February 24, 2020, as per media reports.

• Mahathir’s PPBM has also pulled out of the ruling Pakatan Harapan (Alliance of Hope) coalition, throwing the country into renewed political turmoil. The resignation of 94-year-old veteran politician and two-time Prime Minister comes following an on-going rift with his presumptive successor Anwar Ibrahim. Following his resignation as the PM, Mahathir also resigned as the chairman of PPBM.

• Resignation of Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad comes in the wake of long going battle in the ruling coalition which comprises many stakeholders. The key parties in the Pakatan Harapan coalition include Mahathir’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia i.e. PPBM or United Indigenous Party of Malaysia; Anwar Ibrahim‘s Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) which commands ethnic Chinese as its vote bank.

• The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has appointed Vijay Advani as new Chair of its Global Board of Directors. Prior to this, he served as Executive Chairman of the Board in January 2020. नए नियमों के अनुसार, अंतरराष्ट्रीय पदक और प्रसिद्ध निशानेबाजों को अब छूट वाले वर्ग के तहत कुल बारह तक अतिरिक्त हथियार रखने की अनुमति है। पहले उन्हें केवल सात हथियार रखने की अनुमति थी।

शूटर अब सशस्त्र अधिनियम, 1959 के प्रावधानों के तहत सामान्य नागरिकों के रूप में दो आग्नेयास्त्रों के अधिकारी होंगे।

• शस्त्र नियम, 2016 में मुख्य संशोधन

गृह मंत्रालय ने शस्त्र नियम, 2016 के नियम 40 के तहत प्रावधान में संशोधन किया है, जिसके अनुसार एक वर्ष के दौरान निशानेबाजों द्वारा खरीदे जा सकने वाले गोला-बारूद की मात्रा में काफी वृद्धि की गई है।
संशोधित प्रावधानों के तहत, गोला-बारूद की मात्रा जो शूटर 22 के लिए खरीद सकते हैं ।22 LR राइफल / पिस्तौल को 1000 के बजाय 5000 तक बढ़ा दिया गया है, पिस्टल / रिवाल्वर के लिए मात्रा 600 के बजाय 2000 और शॉटगन कैलिबर के लिए बढ़ा दी गई है। मात्रा को 500 के बजाय बढ़ाकर 5000 कर दिया गया है।
मंत्रालय ने शस्त्र अधिनियम, 1959 में शस्त्र अधिनियम (संशोधन) अधिनियम, 2019 में संशोधन करके शस्त्र नियम, 2016 में अन्य आवश्यक संशोधन भी किए हैं।
संशोधन स्पष्ट करते हैं कि भारतीय नागरिकों को क्यूरियो की श्रेणी में आने वाले छोटे हथियारों के अधिग्रहण और कब्जे के लिए कोई लाइसेंस की आवश्यकता नहीं होगी।
हालांकि, निशानेबाजों को ऐसे छोटे हथियारों का उपयोग करने, ले जाने या परिवहन करने के लिए निर्धारित लाइसेंस लेने की आवश्यकता होगी। मालिक के निर्धारित लाइसेंस में ऐसी आग्नेयास्त्रों के समर्थन के बिना उपयोग के लिए कोई गोला-बारूद नहीं बेचा जा सकता है।
आगे, किसी भी व्यक्ति के पास होने वाली आग्नेयास्त्रों की अधिकतम संख्या को पहले के तीन से घटाकर दो कर दिया गया है।
जिनके पास तीन आग्नेयास्त्र हैं, उनमें से किसी दो को बनाए रखने और शेष आग्नेयास्त्र को 13 दिसंबर, 2020 तक जमा करने की सुविधा दी गई है।

Haryana government to open Atal Kisan-Majdoor canteens to provide meals

Haryana state government is to open Atal Kisan-Majdoor canteens in all mandis and sugar mills across the state. The announcement was made by Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya at the Budget Session of State Assembly which commenced in Chandigarh.

The aim of the move is to provide affordable and cheap meals to farmers and labourers at a concessional rate of Rs.10 per plate.25 Atal Kisan-Majdoor canteens will be established in 2020 in the state.

Creator of LEGO Minifigure, Jens Nygaard Knudsen Passed Away

• Jens Nygaard Knudsen, the chief designer of the iconic Lego minifigure with interchangeable legs and torsos has passed away. He was 78-year old.

• Nygaard Knudsen was also responsible for developing some of Lego’s classic themes, such as Lego Space and Lego Pirates.

• The LEGO Group is a Danish toy production company located in Billund, Denmark.

• The 2020 Asian Wrestling Championships was held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi from February 18 to February 23.
