First Synergy Conference on Defence Pension Organised by Defence Accounts Department
The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) organized its first Synergy Conference on Defence Pensions here, today.
● The conference was attended by all Defence Pensioners Associations and was open to all Defence Pensioners.
● Welcoming the panel and participants Additional Controller General of Defence Accounts (Addl. CGDA) Shri Prashant Sukul, emphasized the importance of stakeholder consultations by way of Synergy Conferences initiated by DAD.
● The objective of the conference was to obtain feedback from the pensioners that would help the department to serve them better with constantly improving systems and procedures.
● Digitization of pension data and implementation of a pension sipp were also discussed in detail.
● Joint CGDA (Pension) Shri Kanwaldeep Singh, gave a brief presentation on current status on important issues pertaining to pension.
● Many issues and suggestions were highlighted by the participants.
Government to hold Pan India Handloom and Handicraft Camps
The Ministry of Textiles proposes to organize Pan India camps in handlooms and handicrafts clusters, under the initiative “Hastkala Sahyog Shivir”.
● The camps will be organized during 7th October to 17th October, 2017.
● This initiative is dedicated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Garib Kalyan Varsh, the birth centenary year of Pandit Deendayal Upadhayay.
● The following services will be provided to the weavers and artisans in these camps:
● Issuance of credit facilities through MUDRA scheme
● Assistance for technological upgradation under Hathkargha Samvardhan Sahayata
● Distribution of modern tool kits and equipments
● Issuance of Yarn Pass Book
● It is proposed to organize the camps in more than 200 handloom Block Level Clusters & Weavers’ Service Centres and more than 200 handicraft clusters in collaboration with State Governments.
Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu Launches Sports Talent Search Portal
Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports has launched Sports Talent Search Portal to spot the best talent from among the young population of the country.
● The portal was launched by the Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu at a function at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
● Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Vijay Goel, Secretary Sports Shri Injeti Srinivas, Khel Ratna and Arjuna awardees sports persons and thousands of school children were present on the occasion to witness the path breaking initiative in the field of sports.
● School children presented a series of cultural performances on the occasion.
● Speaking on the occasion Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that this kind of initiative will not only help in identifying the best talent, but will also provide a level playing field to all the applicants and create a competitive environment.
NMCG Awards Contracts for Three STPs on Hybrid Annuity Mode
In a big push to Namami Gange programme, National Mission for Clean Ganga under Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has awarded for the first time contracts for three STPs under hybrid annuity model.
● Two STPs of 68 MLD and 14 MLD will be set up at Haridwar and one STP of 15 MLD at Varanasi.
● This Hybrid Annuity model is first of its kind in the country’s waste water management sector.
● The Central Government will completely fund the STPs construction ensuring that there is no shortage of resources for the project.
● The unique financial model will ensure the transparency and accountability of the running of sewage treatment infrastructure.
● The contractors will not only establish the sewage treatment plant but they will also operate and maintain it for a period of 15 years. Thereafter it will be handed over to the local bodies.
● This will ensure that no wastewater is dumped in the holy river.
● The payment of the operations and management of the projects and the worth of the cost will be provided to the agency over a period of 15 years ensuring that the project runs smoothly.
MNRE & GIZ Signs Agreement to Improve Framework Conditions for Grid Integration of Renewable Energies
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany signed an agreement on technical cooperation under the “Indo-German Energy Programme – Green Energy Corridors (IGEN-GEC)” here today .
● The main objective of this programme component is to improve the sector framework and conditions for grid integration of renewable energies.
● In the distinguished presence of Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines Shri Piyush Goyal and the German Ambassador to India, H.E. Dr. Martin Ney, the agreement was signed by Dr. Wolfgang Hannig, Country Director, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India and Mr. A.N. Sharan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
● Dr. Ney added “When in July 2012 Power Grid Corporation of India submitted a comprehensive and well elaborated “Transmission Plan for Envisaged Renewable Capacity” to MNRE it paved the way for India’s ambitious goals to transform its power system by significantly increasing the share of renewable energies in the energy mix.
● Also in Germany’s “Energiewende” the evacuation and grid integration of renewable energy plays a pivotal role with major technological and fiscal challenges.
● Both the countries have very constructive dialogue under the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF).

Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed Chief of Naval Staff Bangladesh Navy Visits India
Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy is on an official visit to India from 28 to 30 August 2017.
● The visit is aimed at consolidating bilateral naval relations between India and Bangladesh and to explore new avenues for naval cooperation.
● The Chief of Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy will hold bilateral discussions with Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff and other senior officials of the Indian Navy on 28 August 2017.
● The Admiral is also scheduled to meet Chief of the Air Staff, and will also call on the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, NSA and Defence Secretary as part of his official meetings in New Delhi.
● In addition to New Delhi, the Admiral is also scheduled to proceed to Visakhapatnam where he will be visiting various naval establishments, including INS Kalinga, INS Karna and INS Satavahana.

Dara Khosrowshahi becomes Uber CEO
Uber’s board has chosen Dara Khosrowshahi, the head of Expedia, to be its new chief executive in a move that could cost the crisis-plagued Silicon Valley company about $160m to replace his unvested stock options.
● The unanimous vote on Sunday came after months of infighting, leaks and divisions on Uber’s eight-strong board, which has struggled to unite after former chief executive Travis Kalanick was ousted by investors in June.
● Mr Khosrowshahi has not publicly confirmed whether he will accept the job. But Expedia chairman Barry Diller said in a memo on Monday that he was “likely” to do so. Shares in Expedia dropped 4 per cent on the news.
● The Expedia chief was one of three finalists for the role, along with Meg Whitman of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Jeff Immelt of General Electric.
● The deep divisions at the top of Uber have complicated the chief executive selection process, and dealing with the board will be a major challenge for the incoming CEO.

This was a weekend to reaffirm Hamilton’s stature as perhaps the finest British sportsman of his generation.
● While Andy Murray might reasonably take issue with that claim, the Scot spends his Sundays hitting a tennis ball, not hurling a delicately-tuned machine around the forested majesty of Spa, where a ride through the steepling Rivage generates G-forces more familiar to fighter pilots.
● “There are only three sports,” Ernest Hemingway once argued. “Bullfighting, motor racing and mountaineering. All the rest are merely games.”
● As a personality, Hamilton continues to polarise, both by his esoteric fashion sense – he changed straight from his race overalls on Sunday into off-the-shoulder black dungarees bought on his latest trip to New York – and his mercurial mood swings.

रक्षा लेखा विभाग का रक्षा पेंशन पर पहला सहभागिता सम्मेलन
रक्षा लेखा विभाग ने आज रक्षा पेंशन पर अपना पहला सहभागिता सम्मेलन आयोजित किया।
● इस सम्मेलन में सभी रक्षा पेंशन भोगी परिसंघों ने भाग लिया तथा इसमें कोई भी पेंशन भोगी कर्मचारी भाग ले सकता था।
● अपर रक्षा लेखा महानियन्त्रक (अपर सीजीडीए) श्री प्रशान्त शुक्ल ने पैनल और भागीदारों का स्वागत किया तथा उन्होंने रक्षा लेखा विभाग (डीएडी) द्वारा आयोजित सहभागिता सम्मेलन के माध्यम से भागीदारों की सलाह के महत्व पर जोर दिया।
● इस सम्मेलन का उद्देश्य पेंशन भोगियों से फीड-बैक प्राप्त करना है। जिससे विभाग को व्यवस्थाओं और प्रक्रियों में निरन्तर सुधार करने के द्वारा उन्हें और अच्छी सेवाएं प्रदान करने में सहायता मिलेगी।
● सम्मेलन में पेंशन के आकड़ों का डिजीटाइजेशन और पेंशन एप कार्यान्वित करने के बारे में भी विस्तार से चर्चा की गई।
● संयुक्त सीजीडीए (पेंशन), श्री कंवलदीप सिंह ने पेंशन से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों की वर्तमान स्थिति के बारे में संक्षिप्त विवरण दिया। सम्मेलन में भागीदारों द्वारा उठाए गए कई मुद्दों और सुझावों पर विशेष चर्चा की गई।
● सम्मेलन में किए गए विचार-विमर्श से विभाग को काफी लाभ मिला। इस पहल को व्यवस्थित एवं नियमित रूप से आयोजित किया जाएगा।
सरकार पैन इंडिया हथरकघा और हस्तशिल्प शिविर लगाएगी
वस्त्र मंत्रालय हस्तकला सहयोग शिविर पहल के अंतर्गत हथकरघा और हस्तशिल्प समूहों के पैन इंडिया शिविरों का आयोजन करेगा। इन शिविरों का आयोजन 7 अक्तूबर से 17 अक्तूबर, 2017 के दौरान किया जाएगा।
● यह पहल पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय के जन्मशती वर्ष, पंडित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय गरीब कल्याण वर्ष को समर्पित है।
● इन शिविरों में बुनकरों और कारीगरों को निम्नलिखित सेवाएं प्रदान की जाएंगी:
● मुद्रा योजना के जरिए ऋण सुविधाएं जारी करना।
● हथकरघा संवर्द्धन सहायता के अंतर्गत तकनीकी उन्नयन के लिए सहायता।
● आधुनिकी उपकरणों का वितरण।
● यार्न पासबुक जारी करना।
● इग्नू/ एनआईओएस पाठ्यक्रमों के अंतर्गत नाम लिखना1
● सामान्य सेवा केन्द्र सुविधाओं तक पहुंच।
● क्रेता-विक्रेता बैठक और निर्यात।
● इन शिविरों को राज्य सरकारों के सहयोग से खंड स्तर के 200 से अधिक हथकरघा समूहों और बुनकर सेवा केन्द्रों तथा 200 से अधिक हस्तशिल्प समूहों में आयोजित करने का प्रस्ताव है।
उपराष्ट्रपति श्री एम वेंकैया नायडू ने खेल प्रतिभा खोज पोर्टल आरम्भ किया
युवा एवं खेल मंत्रालय ने देश के युवाओं में सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रतिभा की तलाश के लिए प्रतिभा खेल पोर्टल आरम्भ किया।
● इस पोर्टल को आज उपराष्ट्रपति श्री एम. वेंकैया नायडू द्वारा इंदिरा गाँधी स्टेडियम, नई दिल्ली में आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में आरम्भ किया गया।
● खेल क्षेत्र में इस महत्त्वपूर्ण पहल को देखने के लिए युवा मामले और खेल राज्य मंत्री, (स्वतन्त्र प्रभार) श्री विजय गोयल, सचिव, खेल श्री इंजेटी श्रीनिवास, खेल रत्न एवं अर्जुन पुरस्कार विजेता खिलाड़ी तथा हजारों स्कूली छात्र भी इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।
● स्कूली छात्रों ने इस अवसर पर कई सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी प्रस्तुत किए।
● इस अवसर पर अपने संबोधन में उपराष्ट्रपति महोदय ने कहा कि इस तरह की पहल से न केवल सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रतिभाओं को जानने में सहायता मिलेगी अपितु सभी आवेदकों को एक स्तरीय खेल क्षेत्र प्राप्त होगा तथा प्रतिस्पर्धात्मक वातावरण भी बनेगा।
● उन्होंने कहा कि खेल राष्ट्र निर्माण प्रक्रिया का एक अभिन्न भाग है। क्योंकि खेल वैयक्तिक विकास, सामुदायिक विकास, सामाजिक सहभागिता और आर्थिक विकास के संदर्भ में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं।
राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन ने हाइब्रिड वार्षिकी मोड में तीन सीवेज शोधन संयंत्रों के निर्माण के लिए अनुबंध प्रदान किए
नमामि गंगे कार्यक्रम में तेजी लाने के लिए जल संसाधन, नदी विकास और गंगा संरक्षण मंत्रालय के अधीन राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन (एनएमसीजी) ने पहली बार हाइब्रिड वार्षिकी मोड के तहत तीन सीवेज शोधन संयंत्रों (एसटीपी) के निर्माण के लिए अनुबंध प्रदान किये हैं।
● 68 एमएलडी और 14 एमएलडी के दो सीवेज शोधन संयंत्र हरिद्वार में और 15 एमएलवी का एक सीवेज शोधन संयंत्र वाराणसी में स्थापित किया जाएगा।
● देश के अपशिष्ट जल प्रबंधन क्षेत्र में हाईब्रिड वार्षिकी मोड अपने किस्म का पहला मोड है।
● केन्द्र सरकार इन सीवेज शोधन संयंत्रों के निर्माण के लिए पूरा धन उपलब्ध कराएगी, ताकि परियोजना के लिए संसाधनों की कोई कमी न रहे।
● विशिष्ट वित्तीय मॉडल सीवेज शोधन बुनियादी ढांचे को चलाने के लिए पारदर्शिता और जवाबदेही सुनिश्चित करेगा।
● ठेकेदार न केवल सीवेज शोधन संयंत्र स्थापित करेंगे, बल्कि वे 15 वर्ष की अवधि तक इन का परिचालन और रख-रखाव भी करेंगे। इसके बाद ये संयंत्र स्थानीय निकायों को सौंप दिये जाएंगे।
● इससे यह सुनिश्चित होगा कि पवित्र नदी में किसी भी प्रकार का गंदा पानी जाकर न मिले।
● निर्माण करने वाली एजेंसी को परियोजना के परिचालन और प्रबंधन तथा लागत का भुगतान 15 वर्ष की अवधि के दौरान किया जाएगा, ताकि परियोजना का कार्य सहज रूप से चलता रहे।
नवीन औऱ नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय और जर्मनी की जीआईजेड के बीच ग्रिड एकीकरण में सुधार के लिए के लिए समझौता
नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय और जर्मनी सरकार की ओर से डायचे जिसेशैफ्ट फुर इंटरनेशनल के बीच इंडो –जर्मन ऊर्जा कार्यक्रम व हरित ऊर्जा गलियारा के तहत तकनीकी सहयोग के लिए आज एक समझौता हुआ है।
● इस समझौते का उद्देश्य नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा के लिए ग्रिड एकीकरण और मौजूदा ढांचे में सुधार करना है।
● विद्युत, कोयला, नवीन और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा राज्यमंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री पीयूष गोयल और भारत में जर्मनी के राजदूत डॉ. मार्टिन नी की उपस्थिति में जीआईजेड के कंट्री डायरेक्टर डॉ. वोल्फगैंग हैनिंग और मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव ए.एन शरण ने समझौता पत्र पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
● इस अवसर पर श्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि मुझे प्रसन्नता हो रही है कि जीआईजेड और भारत के बीच यह समझौता हुआ है।
● इसके परिणाम स्वरूप बाज़ार तंत्र और नियमन में सुधार होगा। साथ ही इस क्षेत्र के लिए कार्यबल को प्रशिक्षण दिया जा सकेगा ताकि ग्रिडों का स्थायित्व और एकीकरण सुनिश्चित हो।
● उन्होंने कहा कि यह समझौता ग्रिडों की सुरक्षा और साइबर संबंधी चुनौतियों से निपटने में भी कारगर साबित होगा।
● श्री पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि जर्मनी भारत का भरोसेमंद साझेदार है और पिछले 6 दशकों से भारत के समावेशी विकास के लक्ष्य को हासिल करने में मदद कर रहा है।
बांग्लादेश के नौसेना प्रमुख एडमिरल निजामुद्दीन अहमद भारत की यात्रा पर
बांग्लादेश नौसेना प्रमुख एडमिरल निजामुद्दीन अहमद 28 से 30 अगस्त, 2017 तक भारत की आधिकारिक यात्रा पर हैं।
● उनकी इस यात्रा का उद्देश्य भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच द्विपक्षीय नौसैनिक संबंधों को मजबूत बनाना और नौसैनिक सहयोग के लिए नए अवसरों का पता लगाना है।
● वे चेयरमैन चीफ ऑफ स्टाफ कमेटी और नौसेना प्रमुख एडमिरल श्री सुनील लांबा और भारतीय नौसेना के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों के साथ 28 अगस्त, 2017 को द्विपक्षीय चर्चा करेंगे।
● एडमिरल निजामुद्दीन अहमद का वायुसेना प्रमुख से मिलने का भी कार्यक्रम है तथा वे नई दिल्ली में आधिकारिक बैठकों के एक हिस्से के रूप में रक्षा मंत्री, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार और रक्षा सचिव से भी मुलाकात करेंगे।
● नई दिल्ली के अलावा एडमिरल निजामुद्दीन अहमद का विशाखापत्तनम जाने का कार्यक्रम है, जहां वे आईएनएस कलिंग, आईएनएस कर्ण और आईएनएस साहवाहन सहित विभिन्न नौसैनिक प्रतिष्ठनों का भ्रमण करेंगे।
● भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच नौसैनिक सहयोग परम्परागत रूप से बहुत मजबूत रहा है, जिसमें प्रशिक्षण के माध्यम से परिचालन बातचीत, पोर्ट कॉल, क्षमता निर्माण के साथ-साथ पैसेज अभ्यास और क्षमता वृद्धि पहल सहित, व्यापक क्षेत्र शामिल हैं।
● बांग्लादेश की नौसेना हिंद महासागर संगोष्ठी (आईओएनएस) की अध्यक्ष भी है, जो भारतीय नौसेना द्वारा शुरू किया गया बहुपक्षीय समुद्रीय सहयोग मंच है।
● बांग्लादेश की नौसेना का नवम्बर, 2017 में आईएमएमएसएआरईएक्स नामक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बहुपक्षीय समुद्रीय खोज और बचाव अभ्यास आयोजित करने का भी कार्यक्रम है, जिसका आईओएनएस के तहत आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
दारा खोसरोशाही उबर के सीईओ चयनित
टैक्सी सेवा प्रदाता कंपनी उबर ने 27 अगस्त 2017 को दारा खोसरोशाही को उबर का मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी (सीईओ) चयनित किया.
● उन्हें ट्रेविस क्लानिक के स्थान पर इस पद पर नियुक्त किया जायेगा.
● दारा खोसरोशाही एक्सपीडिया के पूर्व मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी थे.
● उनके नाम पर उबर के बोर्ड द्वारा अंतिम निर्णय लिया गया.
● हेवलेट पैकार्ड एंटरप्राइजेज के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी मेग व्हिटमैन एवं जनरल इलेक्ट्रिक के चेयरमैन जेफ़ इम्मेल्ट का नाम भी इस सूची में प्रमुखता से लिया जा रहा था.
● दारा का जन्म 28 मई 1969 को तेहरान (ईरान) में हुआ.
● वे ईरानी-अमेरिकी बिज़नसमैन हैं. वे प्रसिद्ध अंतरराष्ट्रीय ट्रेवल कम्पनी एक्सपीडिया के सीईओ भी रहे हैं

लुईस हैमिल्टन ने बेल्जियम ग्रां प्री का खिताब जीता
लुईस हैमिल्टन ने 27 अगस्त 2017 को सेबेस्टियन वेटेल को पछाड़ते हुए बेल्जियम ग्रां प्री फार्मूला वन रेस जीती.
● यह उनके कॅरियर की 200वीं बार ग्रां प्री रेस थी. उन्होंने इस जीत के साथ ही चैंपियनशिप तालिका में शीर्ष पर काबिज सेबेस्टियन वेटेल और अपने बीच अंतर कम किया.
● हैमिल्टन ने 68वीं बार पोल पोजीशन हासिल की.
● यह बेल्जियम में उनकी तीसरी और कॅरियर की 58वीं जीत है. इससे वह खिताब की दौड़ में शामिल हो गए हैं.
