Seventh Indo- Maldives joint military exercise to commence from 15 dec
Seventh edition of Exercise EKUVERIN will be held from 15 to 28 Dec 2016 at Kadhdhoo, Laamu Atoll, Maldives.
● The Exercise is a 14 day platoon level joint military exercise between the Indian Army & the Maldives National Defence Force conducted on a yearly basis.
● The aim of the exercise is to conduct military training with emphasis on amphibious & counter insurgency/ counter terrorism operations with a view to enhance interoperability between the two armies.
● The contingents comprises of platoon strength from BIHAR Regiment and a similar strength of the Maldivian National Defence Force.
● The previous edition of the exercise was held in India at Trivandrum, Kerala.
● The Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls.
● It’s known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs.
● The capital, Malé, has a busy fish market, restaurants and shops on the main road, Majeedhee Magu, and 17th-century Hukuru Miskiy made of carved white coral.
अभ्यास ईकुवेरिन का सातवां संस्करण 15 से 28 दिसम्बर, 2016 तक मालदीव के लामु एटौल के कधढू में आयोजित किया जायेगा।
● यह अभ्यास भारतीय सेना एवं मालदीव राष्ट्रीय रक्षा बल के बीच 14 दिवसीय प्लाटून स्तरीय संयुक्त सैन्य अभ्यास है जिसका आयोजन वार्षिक आधार पर किया जाता है।
● इस अभ्यास का उद्देश्य दोनों देशों की सेनाओं के बीच अंत: पारस्परिकता बढ़ाने के विचार से जलस्थलचर एवं अराजकता/आतंकरोधी संचालनों पर विशेष जोर के साथ सैन्य प्रशिक्षण का संचालन करना है।
● प्लाटून की टुकडि़यों में बिहार रेजीमेंट के जवान तथा इतनी ही संख्या में मालदीव राष्ट्रीय रक्षा बल के जवान शामिल रहते हैं।
● इस अभ्यास का पिछला संस्करण भारत में केरल के त्रिवेन्द्रम में आयोजित किया गया था।
● मालदीव या मालदीव द्वीप समूह, आधिकारिक तौर पर मालदीव गणराज्य, हिंद महासागर में स्थित एक द्वीप देश है, जो मिनिकॉय आईलेंड और चागोस अर्किपेलेगो के बीच 26 प्रवाल द्वीपों की एक दोहरी चेन, जिसका फेलाव भारत के लक्षद्वीप टापू की उत्तर-दक्षिण दिशा में है, से बना है।
● यह लक्षद्वीप सागर में स्थित है, श्री लंका की दक्षिण-पश्चिमी दिशा से करीब सात सौ किलोमीटर पर.
