Sania Mirza Completes 80 weeks as World Number 1, an Indian Record

Sania Mirza, ended 2015 as the top-ranked doubles player in the world with partner Martina Hingis.
●   She took that title alone this year with Barbora Strycova.
●   The 29-year-old completed a total of 80 weeks as the top-ranked player – the tenth-highest number of weeks as the WTA No. 1 doubles player.
●   The all-time record rests with American legend Martina Navratilova, who yesterday celebrated her 60th birthday.
●   Widely considered among the greatest players of all time, Navratilova won a staggering eighteen Grand Slams in the singles, 31 in the doubles.
●   Mirza, who initially started out in the singles and is considered one of India’s finest ever players, is the highest-ranked doubles player in Indian women’s history and was the first Indian woman to win a Grand Slam title.

भारतीय टेनिस स्टार सानिया मिर्ज़ा लगातार 80 हफ्तों से दुनिया की नंबर एक वूमैन डबल्स टेनिस खिलाड़ी बनी हुई है।
●   सानिया मिर्ज़ा ने इसी साल अगस्त में अपनी जोड़ीदार मार्टिना हिंगिस से खुद को अलग कर लिया था।
●   इसके बाद सानिया ने सिनसिनाटी ओपन के फाइनल में अपनी नई साथी बारबोरा स्ट्राईकोवा के साथ मिलकर मार्टिना हिंगिस और संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका की कोको वेंडवेघ के खिलाफ जीत हासिल की थी।
●   सभी समय कि रिकॉर्ड धारक अमेरिकी लीजेंड मार्टिना नवरातिलोवा, हैं जिन्होंने कल अपना 60वां जन्मदिन मनाया।
●   उन्हें व्यापक रूप से सभी समय के महानतम खिलाड़ियों में शुमार किया जाता, नवरातिलोवा ने 18 ग्रैंड स्लैम एकल में और 31 युगल में जीत हासिल की।
●   मिर्जा, जो शुरू में एकल से बाहर हो गईं उन्हें युगल खेलों में भारत में सबसे बेहतरीन माना जाता है।ऐसा करने वाली वो पहली भारतीय महिला हैं।
