President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed former Union Minister Najma Heptulla (76) as Governor of Manipur
Former Union Minister Najma Heptullah was on 17 August 2016 appointed as the Governor of Manipur. With this, Heptullah will be the 18th Governor of the state.
• Before her appointment, V Shamuganathan, the Governor of Meghalaya, was looking after the state of Manipur since September 2015.
• Heptullah had resigned from the Union Ministry on 12 July 12 2016 as she completed 75 years of age.
• Banwarilal Purohit was appointed as the Governor of Assam.
• VP Singh Badnore was made the Governor of Punjab.
• Prof Jagdish Mukhi was named Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in place of Lt Gen (Retd) AK Singh.
• Manipur is a state in northeastern India, with the city of Imphal as its capital.
• Manipur is sometimes called alternative names such as Kangleipak or Sanaleibak.
• The state covers an area of 22,327 square kilometers.
• Its people include the Meetei, Kuki, Naga, and Pangal peoples, who speak Sino-Tibetan languages.
पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री नजमा हेपतुल्ला को 17 अगस्त 2016 को मणिपुर के राज्यपाल के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया । इस के साथ, हेपतुल्ला राज्य की 18 वीं राज्यपाल बन गयीं।
• उसकी नियुक्ति से पहले, वी शामुगानाथान , मेघालय के राज्यपाल थे जो सितंबर 2015 के बाद से मणिपुर की स्थिति देख रहे थे ।
• हेपतुल्ला ने 12 जुलाई 2016 को मंत्रालय से इस्तीफा दे दिया था क्योंकि वो उम्र के 75 वर्ष पूरे कर चुके हैं।
• बनवारीलाल पुरोहित को असम के राज्यपाल के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया था।
• वीपी सिंह बद्नोरे को पंजाब का राज्यपाल बनाया गया था।
• प्रोफेसर जगदीश मुखी को लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल (सेवानिवृत्त) एके सिंह के स्थान पर अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह के उपराज्यपाल के लिए नामित किया गया था ।
• मणिपुर पूर्वोत्तर भारत में एक राज्य है जिसकी राजधानी इम्फाल है।
