Peter Gilchrist won the World Billiards Championship
Multiple-time champion Peter Gilchrist added another feather to his cap as he pulled off a one-sided 1500-617 win against Indian national champion Sourav Kothari in the Long-Up Format final of IBSF World Billiards Championshipon Thursday.
● The Singapore-based champion did not allow Sourav to take lead in any of the visits to the green baize.
● Gilchrist, literally, knocked Sourav out of contention in his 14th visit when he broke 354 points and then in his next visit scored a 150-break, taking his overall score to 855 against 205.
● Sourav made a valiant effort to restore pride, but his break of 280 in his 28th visit did not make any difference in the match, with the score reading 588 against Gilchrist's 1299.
● Gilchrist further extended his lead by posting a break of 110, with the scores at 1409 against Sourav's 588.
● Gilchrist clinched the final in the 29th visit with a break of 27 points.
● Earlier, a day after upsetting tournament favourite Pankaj Advani, Kothari got the better of compatriot Dhvaj Haria 1250-816.
बेंगलुरु में आयोजित आइबीएसएफ विश्व बिलियर्ड्स चैंपियनशिप के फाइनल मुकाबले में 8 दिसंबर 2016 को पीटर गिलक्रिस्ट ने सौरव कोठारी को हराकर विश्व चैंपियनशिप ख़िताब जीता.
● गिलक्रिस्ट ने सौरव को 1500-617 स्कोर से हराया.
● फाइनल मुकाबले से पूर्व राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन सौरव कोठारी ने भारत के ही विश्व चैंपियन पंकज आडवाणी और ध्वज हरिया को हराकर फाइनल में प्रवेश किया था.
● फाइनल मुकाबले में सिंगापुर के खिलाड़ी पीटर गिलक्रिस्ट ने कोठारी को हराया.
● आरंभ से ही बड़े अंतर से सौरव मजबूत स्थिति में थे, उन्होंने नियमित अन्तराल पर अंक अर्जित करके अपनी स्थिति मजबूत कर ली थी.
● दोनों के बीच अंकों का अंतराल बढ़ता जा रहा था और ध्वज के लिए मुकाबला मुश्किल होता जा रहा था.
● ध्वज लगातार संघर्ष कर रहे थे और उनका कोई भी ब्रेक 50 अंक के पार नहीं पहुंच सका.
● वहीं सौरव लगातार इसके पार जा रहे थे, जिससे उनकी बढ़त काफी बड़ी हो गई और वह आखिरकार मैच जीतने में सफल रहे.
