Old Rs. 500 notes unacceptable from Dec 15 midnight
The Centre will not extend the deadline of December 15 to use old 500 rupee notes for certain activities such as paying utility and hospital bills and purchasing cooking gas cylinders.
● "Exemptions for use of old Rs 500 notes will end on 15 Dec midnight," economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das tweeted.
● The Centre had withdrawn the facility to use old Rs 500 notes at petrol pumps from the midnight of December 2.
● The decision was taken after an assessment that the exemption was being grossly misused to launder black money and that scrapping it will not affect movement of goods.
● It had also stopped the use of old Rs 1,000 notes.
● The Centre had allowed use of old Rs 500 notes for a string of activities up to December 15 midnight.
● This included for making payments in government hospitals for treatment and pharmacies there for buying medicines with doctor's prescription.
वित्त मंत्रालय से जारी अधिसूचना के अनुसार 15 दिसंबर की मध्यरात्रि से देश में 500 के पुराने नोट पूर्णत: बंद कर दिए जाएंगे.
● बिजली बिल या दवा खरीदने हेतु 500 रुपये के पुराने नोट का 15 दिसंबर 2016 मध्यरात्रि तक ही उपयोग किया जा सकता है. केंद्र सरकार ने 15 दिसंबर के बाद इसके लिये समय सीमा नहीं बढ़ाने का फैसला किया है.
● पुराने नोट से मोबाइल रिचार्ज सुविधा भी उपलब्ध नहीं होगी.
● आम जन पुराने 500 रुपये के नोट को बैंक खातों में जमा कर सकते हैं.
● आर्थिक मामलों के सचिव शक्तिकांत दास के अनुसार पुराने 500 रुपये के नोट के उपयोग को लेकर मिली छूट 15 दिसंबर की मध्यरात्रि से समाप्त हो जाएगी.
● केंद्र सरकार ने पूर्व में ही रेलवे या विमान टिकटों तथा पेट्रोल पंपों, एवं टोल प्लाजा पर भुगतान हेतु पुराने 500 रुपये नोट के चलन की छूट वापस ले ली है.
● केंद्र सरकार ने आठ नवंबर 2016 को 500 और 1,000 रपये के नोटों पर पाबंदी लगाते हुए पहले 72 घंटों तक उपयोगी सेवाओं के बिलों के भुगतान हेतु पुराने नोटों के उपयोग की अनुमति दी.
● बाद में इस समय-सीमा को बार-बार बढ़ाया गया और अंतिम बार छूट 15 दिसंबर तक दी गयी.
