NHRC celebrates Human Rights Day -10th December every year

It  is celebrated on 10th December every year to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which was adopted and proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948 as the common standard of achievement for mankind. 
- slogan for this year: ‘Our Rights..Our Freedoms…Always’ 
convents have been launched:
1. The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and 
2. The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
- Conventions signed by India:
1
. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, 1966 
2. International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, 1966, 
3. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, 1979,
4. Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989, and 
5. Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2007. 

About National Human Right Commission of India
- Formed in 1993
- It is an autonomous body.
- It was given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
- The NHRC is the national human rights institution, responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights.
- Composition:
The NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) consists of:
1
. A Chairperson , retired Chief Justice of India
2. One Member who is, or has been, a Judge of the Supreme Court of India
3. One Member who is, or has been, the Chief Justice of a High Court
4. Two Members to be appointed from among persons having knowledge of, or practical experience in, matters relating to human rights.
