New crab species found in Kerala.

Founder: Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala. Four new hermit species of crab has been found by them. These hermit crabs are ubiquitous animals. They are not true crabs, as they lack an external shell on their soft abdomen which leaves them vulnerable to predators. 

   Four new species.
1.    Paguristes Luculentus 
•    Found from the coast of Kollam.
•    Luculentus refers to the livid living colour of the crustacean. 

2.     Diogenes Canaliculated
•    Belongs to Diogenidae family, which are left handed hermits. 

3.     Pagurus Spinossior. 
•    Belongs to paguridae family. 

4.     Pinnotherid crab
•    Named as Ratnakara, means Indian Ocean in Sanskrit
