LAUNCH of Eighth LCU - GRSE YARD 2099
The launch of last ship of LCU MK IV project, an amphibious ship, today, at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, Kolkata, marks yet another significant milestone in the annals of the Indigenous Warship design and construction programme of India.
● The chief guest for the occasion was Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Union Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), Government of India. Rear Admiral AK Verma (Retired), Chairman and Managing Director GRSE and various other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
● The Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE Ltd, commenced the proceedings with a formal welcome, which was followed by an address by the Chief Guest.
● In accordance with traditions, invocation from the Atharva Veda was rendered and the ship was named ‘LCU-L58’.
● LCU-L58 is the last vessel in the series of eight Landing Craft Utility Ships being designed and built by M/s GRSE for the Indian Navy.
एलसीयू एमके IV परियोजना के अंतिम जल-थल पोत का आज गार्डनरीच शिप बिल्डर्स एंड इंजीनियर्स लिमिटेड कोलकाता में शुभारंभ किया गया।
● इसके साथ ही भारत में घरेलू स्तर पर युद्ध पोत निर्माण में एक और मील का पत्थर स्थापित हो गया है।
● इस अवसर पर समारोह के मुख्य अथिति कौशल विकास एवं उद्यमशीलता राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री राजीव प्रताप रूडी, जीआरएसई के अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक रियर एडमिरल ए.के. वर्मा (सेवानिवृत्त) और अन्य विशिष्ट जन उपस्थित थे।
● जीआरएसई लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक ने औपचारिक स्वागत के साथ कार्यवाही की शुरूआत की।
● उसके बाद मुख्य अतिथि का संबोधन हुआ।
● परंपरानुसार अथर्ववेद का पाठ किया गया और उसके बाद पोत का नाम "एलसीयू-एल 58" रखा गया। श्रीमती नीलम प्रताप सिंह रूडी ने जहाज का शुभांरभ किया।
