Kochi Gets First Nod for U-17 World Cup
Kochi on 19 October 2016 became the first Indian city to be officially declared as one of the venues for hosting the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
● The tournament will be hosted in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium of the city.
● A 23-member high-level delegation comprising experts from FIFA and Local Organising Committee (LOC) ratified Kochi as the venue for next year's mega event.
● Earlier, the delegation visited the Jawarharlal Nehru International Stadium.
● The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 will be held in India.
● Indian football team took part on the 1948 London Olympics, their first major international tournament.
● The nation qualified regularly for the Olympics until 1960.
भारत का कोच्ची 19 अक्टूबर 2016 को फीफा अंडर-17 विश्व कप आयोजित करने वाला देश का पहला शहर बना. यह टूर्नामेंट कोच्ची के जवाहर लाल नेहरु स्टेडियम में आयोजित किया जा रहा है.
● फीफा के विशेषज्ञों, स्थानीय आयोजक समिति के सदस्यों सहित तेईस सदसीय उच्च स्तरीय शिष्टमंडल ने कोच्ची को आयोजन स्थल के रूप में मंजूरी प्रदान की. इससे पूर्व शिष्टमंडल ने जवाहरलाल नेहरु स्टेडियम का मुआयना किया था.
● यह भारत में आयोजित किया जाने वाला पहला फीफा का आधिकारिक कार्यक्रम है.
● फीफा के अधिकारी जेवियर सेप्पी के के अनुसार जवाहरलाल नेहरु स्टेडियम के अतिरिक्त सदस्यों ने कोच्ची के परेड ग्राउंड, फोर्ट कोच्ची वेली फुटबॉल ग्राउंड, महाराजा कॉलेज ग्राउंड आदि का भी दौरा किया था.
● पहली बार इस टूर्नामेंट का आयोजन भारत में किया जा रहा है.
● भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम ने पहली बार 1948 में लंदन ओलंपिक खेलों में भाग लिया था.
● इसके बाद भारत की फुटबॉल टीम ने लगातार 1960 तक ओलंपिक खेलों में भाग लिया.
