Ken-Betwa Inter-linking of Rivers project receives NBWL nod
The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has given its clearance for the Ken-Betwa inter-linking of rivers (ILR) project, paving the way to begin work for linking two rivers.
● The clearance of NBWL was required since the project requires diversion of forest land from core area of Panna Tiger Reserve. However NBWL has set some conditions.
● They are Integration of nearby sanctuaries including Ranipur and Rani Durgavati with the Panna Tiger Reserve to compensate loss of tiger habitat and complete ban of fresh mining lease in the area.
● The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) will take care of the landscape plan for the area with the help of Wildlife Institute of India (WII) and state forest departments.
● Nearly 8,650 hectares of forest land including part of Panna National Park in Madhya Pradesh will be submerged due to implementation of this project.
केन और बेतवा नदियों को जोड़ने के काम में तेजी आने के संकेत हैं। इस योजना को अब वाइल्डलाइफ बोर्ड की मंजूरी मिल गई है।
● इसका ऐलान सोमवार को जल संसाधन मंत्री उमा भारती ने एक समारोह के दौरान किया।
● उन्होंने कहा कि इस मंजूरी के बाद अब दोनों नदियों को जोड़ने के काम को रफ्तार मिलेगी। इस प्रॉजेक्ट के तहत यूपी और मध्य प्रदेश में केन और बेतवा नदियों को आपस में जोड़ा जाना है।
● समारोह के दौरान उमा ने आंध्र प्रदेश के सीएम एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू को पोलावरम सिंचाई परियोजना के लिए नाबार्ड की तरफ से जारी 1981 करोड़ रुपये का चेक भी दिया।
● साथ ही महाराष्ट्र को सिंचाई परियोजनाओं के लिए 830 करोड़ और गुजरात को 463 करोड़ रुपये का चेक दिया।गौरतलब है कि केन-बेतवा प्रॉजेक्ट भारत की दो नदियों को जोड़ने वाला पहला प्रॉजेक्ट है।
● वाइल्डलाइफ बोर्ड की मंजूरी न मिलने के कारण इसका काम लटका हुआ था। उमा भारती ने इस प्रॉजेक्ट को मंजूरी देने के लिए पर्यावरण मंत्रालय को लगातार कई लेटर लिखे थे।
● वह खुद कई बार पर्यावरण मंत्री से मिली भी थीं। इस प्रॉजेक्ट के बाद मनास-संकोश-तीस्ता और गंगा को जोड़ने के लिए पहल की जाएगी। इस प्रॉजेक्ट पर काम चल रहा है। इस बारे में केंद्र की असम, वेस्ट बंगाल और बिहार सरकार से बात हुई है। इसके साथ ही पार-तापी-नर्मदा को भी आपस में जोड़ने की योजना है।
