Indian physician Dr. Ketan Desai appointed as chairman of the World Medical Association
The top global medical ethics body, World Medical Association (WMA), appointed an Indian doctor facing corruption charges as its president.
● Taiwan held its annual meeting in the WMA & announced Dr Ketan Desai was appointed Chairman of the Association.
● He delivered the inaugural address as president in Taiwan. In 2013 WMA after assurance claim against Dr. Desai's by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) from the a president removed the suspension.
● WMA's annual meeting held in Taiwan where more than 40 national medical associations were present.
● He will remain chairman of the Association for 2016/17.
● Dr. Desai has also been the Chairman of IMA.
● Dr. Desai is urologists of BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, head of the Department of Urology.
● Currently he is a member of the Gujarat Medical Council. He became a member of 990's.
दुनियाभर के चिकित्सकों की शीर्ष आचार संस्था वर्ल्ड मेडिकल एसोसिएशन (डब्ल्यूएमए) का अध्यक्ष भारतीय चिकित्सक डॉ केतन देसाई को नियुक्त किया.
● डब्ल्यूएमए के अनुसार ताइवान में हुई उसकी वार्षिक बैठक में डॉ केतन देसाई को एसोसिएशन का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किया गया.
● उन्होंने अध्यक्ष के रूप में ताइवान में उद्घाटन भाषण दिया. वर्ष 2013 में डब्ल्यूएमए ने भी इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन (आईएमए) की तरफ से आश्वासन मिलने के बाद डॉ देसाई की अध्यक्ष पद पर दावेदारी पर लगे निलंबन को हटा दिया.
● ताइवान में आयोजित डब्ल्यूएमए की वार्षिक सभा में 40 से अधिक राष्ट्रीय चिकित्सा संघों के प्रतिनिधि मौजूद थे.
● वह 2016/17 के लिए एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष रहेंगे.
● डॉ देसाई आईएमए के अध्यक्ष भी रह चुके हैं.
● डॉ देसाई यूरोलॉजिस्ट हैं और बी.जे. मेडिकल कॉलेज, अहमदाबाद में यूरोलॉजी विभाग के प्रमुख हैं.
● वर्तमान में वह गुजरात मेडिकल काउंसिल के सदस्य है. वह 990 के दशक में सदस्य बने.
● वह मूल रूप से गुजरात के मारोली गांव के निवासी हैं.
● उन्होंने हंसराज मोरारजी पब्लिक स्कूल, जहां उनके पिता धीरू भाई देसाई प्राथमिक अनुभाग में शिक्षक थे, से स्नातक स्तर की पढ़ाई पूरी की.
● उन्होंने बी.जे. मेडिकल कॉलेज, अहमदाबाद से वर्ष 1983 में मूत्रविज्ञान में अपनी एमबीबीएस और एमसीएच पूरा किया.
● वह डेंटल काउंसिल ऑफ इंडिया के अध्यक्ष भी रहे.
