India's Nuclear Triad Complete : INS Arihant Inducted
India on 18 October 2016 completed its nuclear triad by inducting country's first indigenously-constructed nuclear submarine INS Arihant into service.
● INS Arihant was formally commissioned by Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba in August 2016.
● INS Arihant is the lead ship of India's Arihant class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines.
● The 6000 tonne vessel was built under the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project at the Ship Building Centre in the port city of Visakhapatnam.
● It was launched on 26 July 2009, the anniversary of Vijay Diwas (Kargil War Victory Day) by the then Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh.
● After fitting out and extensive sea trials, on 23 February 2016, Arihant was confirmed as ready for operations, and was quietly commissioned in August 2016.
● It first of the expected five in the class of submarines designed and constructed as a part of the Indian Navy's secretive ATV project.
भारतीय नौसेना में नई स्वदेशी परमाणु पनडुब्बी आईएनएस अरिहंत को शामिल कर लिया गया है।
● फरवरी 2016 में इसे ऑपरेशन के लिए तैयार घोषित किया गया था जिसके बाद अगस्त 2016 में पीएम मोदी ने बेहद गुप्त कार्यक्रम में इस पनडुब्बी को नौसेना को सौंप दिया।
● इसके साथ ही भारत का छठा ऐसा देश बन गया है जिसके पास जल, थल और वायु में परमाणु ताकत का त्रय पूरा हो चुका है।
● 6000 टन की आईएनएस अरिहंत 83 मेगावाट के प्रेशराइज्ड लाइट वाटर न्यूक्लीयर रिएक्टर से ताकत प्राप्त करती है।
● इस प्रोजेक्ट को बनाने का काम 1980 के एडवांस टेक्नोलॉजी वेसल के तकत शुरू किया गया था और यह 26 जुलाई 2009 में तत्कालीन पीएम मनमोहन सिंह द्वारा लॉन्च की गई थी। उसके बाद से ही इसके ट्रायल चल रहे थे।
● आईएनएस अरिहंत बेहद एडवांस पनडुब्बी है और यह 700 किमी तक की रेंज में हमला कर सकती है। इसे के-15 मिसाइल से लेस किया जाएगा।
● इसे पूरी तरह से 'नो फर्स्ट यूज' की नीति के तहत बनाया गया है। इसका मतलब भारत पर अगर परमाणु हमला होता है तो भारत इसका जवाब दे सकता है।
