India Rises to Best Fifa Ranking in 6 Years
The Indian football team on 20 October 2016 achieved its best FIFA ranking in over six years. The team jumped 11 placed to be 137th in the latest list.
● India, who defeated 114th ranked Puerto Rico in an International Friendly in Mumbai in September 2016, garnered 230 points for the month.
● In August 2010, India were ranked 137th which stayed India’s best ever FIFA Ranking since then.
● The Indian team was ranked 171st in February 2015 and slipped to 173rd in March 2015.
● At present, Argentina tops the FIFA World Rankings, followed by Germany and Brazil.
● The FIFA World Ranking is a ranking system for men's national teams in association football.
● The teams of the member nations of FIFA are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest.
भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर एक नई उपलब्धि हासिल की है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय फुटबॉल महासंघ की रैकिंग में भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम 137वें स्थान पर पहुंच गई है।
● भारतीय फुटबॉल टीम ताजा जारी अंतरराष्ट्रीय फुटबॉल महासंघ (फीफा) की रैकिंग में 11 स्थानों की छलांग लगाकर 137वें स्थान पर पहुंची है जो उसकी छह वर्षों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ रैकिंग है।
● एएफसी कप के फाइनल में पहुंचकर इतिहास बनाने वाली बेंगलुरू एफसी की टीम के बाद भारतीय फुटबॉल के लिए यह दूसरी बड़ी कामयाबी है।
● वर्ष 2010 के बाद यह भारतीय टीम की सर्वश्रेष्ठ फीफा रैकिंग है।
● भारतीय टीम को सितंबर में 114वीं रैकिंग की प्यूर्टो रिको के खिलाफ अंतरराष्ट्रीय दोस्ताना मैच में मिली जीत के बाद रैकिंग में यह फायदा मिला है। इस जीत से भारत को 230 रैकिंग अंकों का फायदा हुआ है।
● भारत को अगले वर्ष अंडर 17 फीफा विश्वकप की मेजबानी करनी है और ऐसे में भारतीय फुटबाल के विकास और उसकी कामयाबी मेजबान टीम के लिए अहम साबित होगी।
