India ratifies Paris Agreement
India formally joined the Paris Climate Change Agreement by submitting its instrument of ratification at UN headquarters in New York on Sunday - the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
● The instrument of ratification was deposited by India's permanent representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin.
● By putting Gandhi seal on the climate deal, the country will now urge the global community to adopt 'Gandhian way of life to reduce their carbon footprints and protect the earth from adverse impact of climate change.
● India will articulate its point vigorously during the next climate conference (COP22) at Marrakech in Morocco, beginning November 7.
● Since European Union+ (28 nations) has also decided to submit its instrument of ratification on Tuesday.
भारत ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र में पेरिस जलवायु समझौते का अनुमोदन किया. इस अनुमोदन के कारण इसके वर्ष 2016 के अंत तक लागू हो जाने के आसार बढ़ गये हैं.
● संयुक्त राष्ट्र में भारत के स्थायी प्रतिनिधि सैयद अकबरूद्दीन द्वारा राष्ट्रपति प्रणब मुखर्जी के हस्ताक्षरित अनुमोदन को संयुक्त राष्ट्र में प्रस्तुत किया गया.
● इस अवसर पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र में ट्रीटीज डिविजन के प्रमुख सैंटियागो विलालपांडो को यह अनुमोदन सौंपा गया.
● यह अनुमोदन महात्मा गांधी की 147वीं जयंती के अवसर पर आयोजित कार्यक्रम में प्रस्तुत किया गया.
● इस अवसर पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासचिव बान की मून ने अपने सन्देश में कहा कि पेरिस जलवायु समझौते का अनुमोदन करना गांधी जी की विरासत का स्मरण करना है.
● भारत 7 नवंबर के अगले जलवायु सम्मेलन माराकेच में मोरक्को में, दौरान सख्ती से अपनी बात स्पष्ट हो जाएगा।
यूरोपीय संघ (28 राष्ट्रों) ने भी मंगलवार को अनुसमर्थन के अपने साधन प्रस्तुत करने का फैसला किया है ।
