India ranks 78th in Global Passport Index
The Indian passport in the third week of January 2017 was ranked 78th in a global ranking of the world’s most powerful passports. The visa-free score of India is 46.
● The list was topped by Germany with a visa-free score of 157. On the other hand, Singapore overtook South Korea and became the highest ranked Asian passport with a visa-free score of 156.
● Pakistan and China ranked 94 and 66 in the list respectively.
● The least powerful passport in the ranking was Afghanistan with a visa-free score of only 23.
● An Indian passport is issued by the President of India to citizens of the Republic of India for travelling abroad.
● It enables the bearer to travel internationally.
● It also serves as proof of Indian citizenship as per the Passports Act (1967).
● The Consular Passport & Visa (CPV), Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, is responsible for issuing Indian passports on demand to all eligible Indian citizens.
● As of November 2014, around 60 million Indians hold valid passports.
भारतीय पासपोर्ट को दुनिया के सबसे प्रभावशाली पासपोर्ट की रैंकिंग में निचले पायदान पर रखा गया है। उसे 78वां स्थान दिया गया है।
● 196 देशों की इस सूची में जर्मनी को शीर्ष जबकि अफगानिस्तान को अंतिम स्थान मिला है।
● ऑटर्न कैपिटल की वैश्विक रैंकिंग 'पासपोर्ट इंडेक्स' में जर्मनी 157 वीजा-फ्री स्कोर के साथ शीर्ष पर है। दूसरे स्थान पर सिंगापुर और स्वीडन हैं।
● इन दोनों देशों का स्कोर 156 है। तीसरे स्थान पर डेनमार्क, फ्रांस, ब्रिटेन और अमेरिका समेत आठ देश हैं। इन सभी का स्कोर 155 है।
● भारत 48 वीजा-फ्री स्कोर के साथ 78वें स्थान पर है। जबकि भारत के पड़ोसी देश चीन और पाकिस्तान क्रमश: 58वें और 94वें पायदान पर हैं।
● अफगानिस्तान का स्कोर महज 23 है।
● दुनिया के इस लोकप्रिय ऑनलाइन संवाद साधन की यह रैंकिंग देशों की वीजा मुहैया कराए जाने की सुविधा पर आधारित है।
● रैंकिंग में वीजा-फ्री स्कोर यह दर्शाता है कि जिस देश का जितना स्कोर है उसके नागरिक उतने देशों में बगैर वीजा या वीजा ऑन अराइवल प्रवेश कर सकते हैं। जैसे इस रैंकिंग में भारत का स्कोर 48 है।
● इसका मतलब यह हुआ कि उसके पासपोर्ट धारक नागरिकों को 48 देशों में बगैर वीजा या वीजा ऑन अराइवल प्रवेश मिल सकता है।
