India and Israel to step-up Science and Technology Cooperation
A high level Israeli delegation led by Minister for Science, Technology and Space Mr.Ofir Akunis, including three members of Israeli parliament met Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science, Technology and Earth Sciences.
● The visit of the Israeli S&T and Space Minister to India follows the visit of the President of Israel to India last month.
● In the meeting between the two Minister’s both sides agreed to give boost to the bilateral cooperation in science and technology under the aegis of the S&T Agreement concluded between India and Israel in 1993.
● Next year will mark 25 years of diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
● Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Harsh Vardhan remarked that India values its science and technology cooperation with Israel which is a leading innovative nation of the world.
● He further added that we would like to identify new opportunities and mechanisms to expand and upscale our cooperation agenda by creating a value based relationship which can contribute to the 21st century knowledge economy.
विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी एवं अंतरिक्ष मंत्री श्री ओफिर अकुनिस की अगुवाई में इजरायल के एक उच्चस्तरीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने केन्द्रीय विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी एवं पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्री डॉ. हर्षवर्धन से भेंट की।
● इजरायली संसद के तीन सदस्य भी इस प्रतिनिधिमंडल में शामिल थे। पिछले महीने इजरायल के राष्ट्रपति की भारत यात्रा के बाद इजरायल के विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी एवं अंतरिक्ष मंत्री भारत के दौरे पर आए।
● दोनों मंत्रियों के बीच हुई बैठक में दोनों पक्षों ने वर्ष 1993 में भारत और इजरायल के बीच हुये विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी समझौते के तहत विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी में द्विपक्षीय सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने पर सहमति जताई।
● अगला साल दोनों देशों के बीच राजनयिक संबंधों के 25 वर्षों का प्रतीक होगा।
● प्रतिनिधिमंडल का स्वागत करते हुए डॉ. हर्षवर्धन ने कहा कि भारत इजरायल के साथ विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी क्षेत्र में आपसी सहयोग को काफी अहमियत देता है, क्योंकि इजरायल विश्व का एक अग्रणी अभिनव या नवप्रवर्तनशील देश है।
● उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि हम एक ऐसे मूल्य आधारित रिश्ते का सृजन करके आपसी सहयोग एजेंडे को बढ़ाने के लिए नये अवसरों एवं व्यवस्थाओं की पहचान करने की कोशिश करेंगे जिसका 21वीं शताब्दी की ज्ञान अर्थव्यवस्था में संभवत: अहम योगदान होगा।
