Manjit Singh GK expelled from Shiromani Akali Dal.

• Former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president Manjit Singh GK was expelled from Shiromani Akali Dal, two days after he questioned the party's leadership over its performance in Punjab Lok Sabha polls. Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder said that the step was taken after the Delhi court recently directed to investigate corruption charges against Manjit.

President Kovind appoints Modi as PM, swearing-in likely on May 30.

• President Kovind appoints Modi as PM, swearing-in likely on May 30

• NDA leader Narendra Modi met President Ram Nath Kovind today and staked claim to form new government. President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Modi to the office of Prime Minister and asked him to advise about the names of others to be appointed members of the Union Council of Ministers. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on May 30.

SPORTS:

First 300-run partnership came after 28 years of ODI cricket.

• Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid shared ODI cricket's first ever 300-run partnership after notching 318 runs against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup on 26 May 1999, nearly 28 years after first ODI was played. Ganguly, who went on to score his career-best 183 in the match, contributed 157(146) for the second wicket partnership while Dravid scored 145(129).

Apurvi Chandela wins second ISSF World Cup gold of the year.

• India's Apurvi Chandela won her second International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup gold medal this year in Germany on Sunday. Chandela, who beat China's Wang Luyao in the 10-metre Air Rifle event, had earlier registered a world record score at ISSF World Cup in New Delhi in February. Notably, this was Apurvi's career's fourth ISSF medal.

About ISSF World Cup:

• The ISSF World Cup was introduced by the International Shooting Sport Federation in 1986 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic shooting competitions. It still is carried out in the Olympic shooting events, with four competitions per year in each event.

About Apurvi Chandela:

• Apurvi Singh Chandela is an Indian sport shooter who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. She won the gold medal in the 2019 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi.
