NATIONAL:
India's population grew at 1.2 percent between 2010-19: UN report.
• According to United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFP) State of World Population 2019 report, India’s population grew at an average annual rate of 1.2% between 2010 and 2019 to 1.36 billion, more than double the annual growth rate of China.
• India’s population in 2019 stood at 1.36 billion, growing from 942.2 million in 1994 and 541.5 million in 1969. China’s population grew at an average annual rate of 0.5% between 2010 and 2019.
• In comparison, China’s population stood at 1.42 billion in 2019, growing from 1.23 billion in 1994 and 803.6 million in 1969. In India, total fertility rate per woman was 5.6 in 1969, dropping to 2.3 in 2019. India also recorded an improvement in life expectancy at birth.
INTERNATIONAL:
Google unveiled new Cloud Platform, Anthos to manage apps from anywhere.
• Google has introduced a new open platform called Anthos to run and manage apps from anywhere.
• Based on the Cloud Services Platform that Google announced in 2018, Anthos lets users run applications on existing on-premise hardware investments or in the Public Cloud. Anthos will also let users manage workloads running on third-party clouds like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Anthos is a Kubernetes-powered technology to build and manage hybrid applications, for on-premises or cloud deployments. Google also announced Anthos Migrate in beta, which auto-migrates virtual machines (VMs) from on-premises, or other clouds, directly into containers in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) with minimal effort.
Pakistan country issues 2,200 visas for Sikh pilgrims.
• India-Pakistan Protocol visit to religious shrines of 1974. In this perspective, Pakistan granted 2,200 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in Baisakhi celebrations from April 12 to 21.
• The Sikh pilgrims would be visiting shrines like Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib, and Kartarpur Sahib.
• The protocol between India and Pakistan enables a large number of pilgrims to visit the other country to observe various religious festivals or occasions every year.
AGREEMENTS:
India, Sweden inked pact to collaborate on solutions for smart cities, clean tech.
• The India-Sweden Collaborative Industrial Research and Development Programme will work towards addressing a range of challenges around smart cities and clean technologies among others. The programme was co-funded by Indian Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Swedish agency Vinnova. Vinnova will provide funding to Swedish participants up to 2,500,000 Swedish Krona (around Rs 1.87 crore) as grant.
• On the Indian side, conditional grant of up to 50 per cent (with a limit of Rs 1.5 crore) per project will be provided to the Indian partners. This Programme is technically and administratively managed by the Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA) on behalf of DST in India and Vinnova in Sweden.
• Government, Academia, and Industry or the ‘triple helix’ - is key to the Sweden-India partnership. About Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India: It was established in May 1971, with the objective of promoting new areas of science & technology (S&T) and to play the role of a nodal department for organising, coordinating and promoting S&T activities in the country.
BANKS AND ECONOMICS:
India and Netherlands vow to strengthen bilateral political & economic ties.
• India and the Netherlands have discussed ways to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties including boosting cooperation at the United Nations and other international fora. The two countries held Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi, with the Indian side led by A Gitesh Sarma, Secretary, West, Ministry of External Affairs, and Johanna Brandt, Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading the Dutch delegation. Both countries used this opportunity to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including political, economic, commercial, scientific and cultural cooperation.

• PAISALO Digital Limited signed the first co-origination loan agreement with State Bank of India (SBI). This is the first agreement of its kind in the country that State Bank of India has signed. The agreement was signed with a vision of empowering the AGRI, MSME segment and small businesses. The loan ticket is designed at Rs.10,000 to 2 lakh. The company expects to disburse 200,000 loan applications in FY20. PAISALO Digital Limited is a leading systemically important non-deposit taking NBFC. It is registered with the Reserve Bank of India, in operations since 1992.
• Co-origination loan agreement:
♦ This new framework seeks to bring the strengths of two sectors, that is, banks and micro-finance institutions (MFIs)/non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) together
♦ Under this framework, both a bank and an MFI/NBFC will join at each underwriting and loan level and share the loan amount at an agreed percentage with all other structures put in place
♦ It is expected that such a blending would not only increase the flow of credit to MSMEs but also bring down the cost of credit for the sector substantially.

Cairn India’s CEO and CFO resign.
• Cairn India CEO Sudhir Mathur and CFO Pankaj Kalra have resigned from the firm. Ajay Dixit, who was CEO of the Aluminum and Power divisions of Vedanta, will take over from Mr.Mathur in the interim, after his exit. Mr.Mathur is the fourth CEO to quit the firm after it was acquired by Vedanta in 2011.
AWARDS:
Varanasi ranked third on the WHOs list of 15 most polluted cities.
• According to the 'Political Leaders Position and Action on Air Quality in India 2014-2019' report, released by Climate Trends, the air quality in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2014 Lok Sabha constituency, is ranked third on the WHO's (World Health Organisation) list of 15 most polluted cities in the world.
• Fourteen of the 15 most polluted cities in the world, listed by World Health Organisation (WHO) are in India, of which four are in Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh is the most polluted city in the world and is ranked one on the list. Faridabad in Haryana has been ranked second.
• Delhi is ranked sixth on the list. Gaya and Patna in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, Cities of Agra, Muzaffarpur, Srinagar, Gurugram, Jaipur, Patiala and Jodhpur are also on the WHO list of most polluted cities. The air quality index (AQI) in Varanasi reached an alarming 490 in 2017 and 384 (very poor category) in December 2018.

Namami Gange got Public Water Agency of the Year award at Global Water Summit
• India's flagship programme, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) or Namami Gange was felicitated with ‘Public Water Agency of the Year’ award by Global Water Intelligence at the Global Water Summit in London. Namami Gange Mission:
♦ The Namami Gange programme is an integrated mission for Ganga rejuvenation, and approved by the Union Government in June 2014 with budget outlay of Rs.20,000 Crore.

Eni Nuraeni named as Best athletic coach in Asia 2019 by AAA.
• Indonesian Eni Nuraeni was named by Asian Athletic Association (AAA) as the best athletic coach in Asia for the short-haul run category in 2019. It was announced by the Indonesian athletic sports association (PB PASI). Eni coaches young sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri to win the 100m gold medal in 10.20 seconds in the 2019 Grand Prix Malaysia Open athletics championships. Earlier, Zohri won the 100m in 10.18 in the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland in 2018.

• संयुक्त राष्ट्र जनसंख्या कोष की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 2010 से 2019 के बीच भारत की जनसंख्या 1.2 की औसत वार्षिक दर से बढ़कर 1.36 अरब हो गई है, जो चीन की वार्षिक वृद्धि दर के मुकाबले दोगुनी से ज्यादा है। 2019 में भारत की जनसंख्या 1.36 अरब पहुंच गयी है, जो 1994 में 94.22 करोड़ और 1969 में 54.15 करोड़ थी।विश्व की जनसंख्या 2019 में बढ़कर 771.5 करोड़ हो गई है, जो पिछले साल 763.3 करोड़ थी। संयुक्त राष्ट्र की सेक्सुअल एंड रिप्रोडक्टिव हेल्थ एजेंसी ने स्टेट ऑफ वर्ल्ड पॉपुलेशन 2019, रिपोर्ट में कहा कि 2010 और 2019 के बीच भारत की जनसंख्या औसतन 1.2 प्रतिशत बढ़ी है। इसकी तुलना में, 2019 में चीन की आबादी 1.42 अरब पहुंच गई है, जो 1994 में 1.23 अरब और 1969 में 80.36 करोड़ थी। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि 2010 और 2019 के बीच चीन की आबादी 0.5 प्रतिशत की औसत वार्षिक दर से बढ़ी है। उसके अनुसार, भारत में 1969 में प्रति महिला कुल प्रजनन दर 5.6 थी, जो 1994 में 3.7 रह गई।भारत ने जन्म के समय जीवन प्रत्याशा में सुधार दर्ज किया है। 1969 में जन्म के समय जीवन प्रत्याशा 47 वर्ष थी, जो 1994 में 60 वर्ष और 2019 में 69 वर्ष हो गई है। विश्व की औसत जीवन प्रत्याशा दर 72 साल है। रिपोर्ट में 2019 में भारत की जनसंख्या के विवरण का एक ग्राफ दिया गया है, जिसमें कहा गया है कि देश की 27-27 प्रतिशत आबादी 0-14 वर्ष और 10-24 वर्ष की आयु वर्ग में है, जबकि देश की 67 प्रतिशत जनसंख्या 15-64 आयु वर्ग की है। देश की छह प्रतिशत आबादी 65 वर्ष और उससे अधिक आयु की है। भारत की स्वास्थ्य देखभाल प्रणाली की गुणवत्ता में सुधार के संकेत देते हुये रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि देश में मातृ मृत्यु दर (एमएमआर) 1994 में प्रति 1,00,000 जन्मों में 488 मौतों से घटकर 2015 में प्रति 1,00,000 जन्मों में 174 मृत्यु तक आ गई।यूएनएफपीए की निदेशक जेनेवा मोनिका फेरो ने कहा कि आंकड़े ‘‘चिंताजनक’’ है और दुनिया भर में करोड़ों महिलाओं के लिए सहमति और महत्वपूर्ण स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं तक पहुंच के स्तर को बढ़ाना बेहद आवश्यक है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘मत भूलना कि इन संख्याओं में से प्रत्येक एक व्यक्ति है।’’
अंतरराष्ट्रीय:
Google ने पेश किया गेमिंग क्लाउड सेवा 'Stadia'
• गूगल ने वीडियो गेम स्ट्रीमिंग प्लेटफॉर्म 'स्टेडिया' से पर्दा उठा दिया है ताकि यह परंपरागत वीडियो गेम व्यापार में अपनी जगह ले सके। गूगल ने इसकी घोषणा सैन फ्रांसिस्को में आयोजित kगेम डेवलपर कॉन्फेंसl के दौरान की। इस सेवा की शुरुआत करते हुए गूगल के सीईओ सुंदर पिचाई ने कहा, यह प्लेटफॉर्म सभी के लिए है।
'स्टेडिया' एक क्लाउट आधारित सेवा है, जिसे इंटरनेट की मदद से लॉगइन करके खेला जा सकता है। हालांकि लॉगइन करने के लिए गूगल के लिए सिर्फ क्रोम ब्राउजर, क्रोम ओएस, पिक्सल फोन और क्रोमबुक का इस्तेमाल कर पाएंगे। गूगल ने अभी इस सेवा के बदले ली जाने वाली कीमत के बारे में नहीं बताया है और न ही यह बताया है कि ये मुफ्त सेवा होगी या फिर सब्क्रिप्शन आधारित। अभी इस सेवा को अमेरिका, कनाडा, ब्रिटेन और यूरोप के लिए लॉन्च किया गया है और इस साल के आखिर तक उनके लिए उपलब्ध हो जाएगा।
पाकिस्तान ने बैसाखी त्योहार के लिए 2200 सिख तीर्थ यात्रियों का वीजा जारी किया
• बैसाखी का त्योहार मनाने के लिए पाकिस्तान ने 2200 सिख तीर्थ यात्रियों का वीजा जारी किया
• पाक ने सद्भावना के तौर पर 360 भारतीय कैदियों को रिहा करने का भी ऐलान किया है
• इनमें से ज्यादातर कैदी भारतीय मछुआरे हैं जिन्हें 4 खेप में रिहा किया जाएगा
• 360 कैदियों में से 100 कैदियों को पाकिस्तान ने सोमवार को छोड़ भी दिया है
• पाकिस्तान उच्चायोग ने मंगलवार को कहा कि उसने भारत के 2200 सिखों को 12-21 अप्रैल के दौरान वार्षिक बैसाखी में हिस्सा लेने के लिए वीजा जारी किया है। पाकिस्तान द्वारा वीजा जारी किये जाने को दोनों देशों के बीच तनाव में कमी आने के संकेत के रूप में देखा जा रहा है। यह कदम बालाकोट हवाई हमले और बाद में पाकिस्तान द्वारा की गयी बदले की कार्रवाई के करीब 6 हफ्ते बाद आया है।
समझौते:
स्मार्ट सिटी, स्वच्छ प्रौद्योगिकी समाधान के लिए भारत, स्वीडन के बीच करार
• भारत और स्वीडन ने बृहस्पतिवार को स्मार्ट सिटी और स्वच्छ प्रौद्योगिकी क्षेत्र में चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिये एक संयुक्त कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत की है। इस कार्यक्रम का वित्तपोषण भारतीय विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग (डीएसटी) तथा स्वीडन की एजेंसी विनोवा मिल कर करेंगी। विनोवा स्वीडन के भागीदारों को 25,00,000 स्वीडश क्रोना (करीब 1.87 करोड़ रुपये) का अनुदान उपलब्ध कराएगी। वहीं भारत की तरफ भारतीय भागीदारों को सशर्त 50 प्रतिशत तक का अनुदान (डेढ़ करोड़ रुपये तक) प्रति परियोजना उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। भारत में स्वीडन के राजदूत क्लास मोलिन ने कहा, ‘‘भारत स्वीडन संयुक्त औद्योगिक अनुसंधान एवं विकास कार्यक्रम में स्वीडन और भारत के नवोन्मेषक मिलकर काम करेंगे और समाधान का विकास करेंगे जिससे दोनों पक्षों को लाभ होगा।’’ उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘हम स्मार्ट सिटी, ऊर्जा, डिजटलीकरण, जीव विज्ञान के साथ ही अपने स्टार्ट अप समुदाय को भी विकसित करना चाहते हैं।’’

अमेरिकी जज ने की मोदी सरकार के ‘स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन’ की तारीफ
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की कार्य करने की शैली ही ऐसी है कि हर कोई उनकी तारीफ करता है। अब अमेरिका में हवाई सुप्रीम कोर्ट के जज माइकल डी विल्सन ने मोदी सरकार के ‘स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन’ की तारीफ की है। उन्होंने कहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी गंगा के प्रति सांस्कृतिक आस्था रखते हैं। जज विल्सन ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी नदी की चिंता करते हैं। ओपी जिंदल ग्लोबल यूनिवर्सिटी और डब्ल्यूडब्ल्यूएफ-इंडिया द्वारा आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में उन्होंने कहा कि, ‘कोई जब गंगा में जाता है, तो वह सिर्फ भीगता नहीं है। वह प्रेरणा ग्रहण करता है। यह एक शानदार सामुदायिक परियोजना है। तमाम जहर के बावजूद गंगा को छोड़ा नहीं गया है, लोग अब भी इसके प्रति श्रद्धा रखते हैं। इसलिए मुझे लगता है कि इसे स्वच्छ बनाया जाएगा। एक भारतीय समाधान होगा जिसमें एक महान दृष्टिकोण होगा। भारत के प्रधानमंत्री को गंगा नदी की चिंता है। वह नदी की परवाह करते है।’
एसबीआई और PAISALO डिजिटल लिमिटेड ने पहले सह-उत्पत्ति ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए
• PAISALO डिजिटल लिमिटेड ने भारतीय स्टेट बैंक के साथ पहले सह-उत्पत्ति ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए है, यह देश में अपनी तरह का पहला समझौता जिस पर भारतीय स्टेट बैंक ने हस्ताक्षर किये है। देश के हर कोने के ग्राहक के लिए एक मंच पेश करते हुए, ऋण टिकट 10,000 रुपये से 2 लाख रुपये के बीच डिज़ाइन किया गया है। कंपनी को उम्मीद है कि वित्त वर्ष 20 में 200,000 ऋण के आवेदनों का वितरण किया जाएगा।
• PAISALO डिजिटल लिमिटेड 1992 से परिचालन में भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के साथ पंजीकृत एक प्रमुख रूप से महत्वपूर्ण गैर-जमा NBFC है। कृषि, MSME वर्ग और छोटे व्यवसायों को सशक्त बनाने की दृष्टि से समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किया गये है।
नियुक्तिया एवं पद त्याग
शिव दास मीणा को राष्ट्रीय भवन निर्माण निगम (एनबीसीसी) के अध्यक्ष सह प्रबंध निदेशक (सीएमडी) के रूप में नामित किया गया:
• आवास और शहरी मामलों के मंत्रालय (एमऔएचयुए) के अतिरिक्त सचिव शिव दास मीणा को राष्ट्रीय भवन निर्माण निगम (एनबीसीसी) के अध्यक्ष सह प्रबंध निदेशक (सीएमडी) के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
• शिव दास मीणा, 1989-बैच के तमिलनाडु कैडर के एक भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा के अधिकारी हैं,जो डॉ अनूप कुमार मित्तल की जगह लेंगे।
• उन्होंने मित्तल के बाद कंपनी के 17 वें सीएमडी के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला।
वेदांता की अगुवाई वाली केयर्न इंडिया के सीईओ, सीएफओ ने इस्तीफा दिया
• केयर्न इंडिया के मुख्य कार्यपालक अधिकारी सुधीर माथुर ने कंपनी से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। अरबपति कारोबारी अनिल अग्रवाल की अगुवाई वाली वेदांता समूह ने सात साल पहले कंपनी का अधिग्रहण किया था, जिसके बाद से इस्तीफा देने वाले वह चौथे सीईओ हैं।
• माथुर के साथ केयर्न इंडिया के मुख्य वित्तीय अधिकारी पंकज कालरा ने भी त्यागपत्र दे दिया है। सूत्रों ने बताया कि माथुर ने एक महीने पहले इस्तीफा दे दिया था, लेकिन इससे जुड़ी जानकारी पिछले सप्ताह ही सार्वजनिक की गई।
• वह अभी नोटिस अवधि में चल रहे हैं, जो मई के आखिर तक के लिए है, लेकिन वह अप्रैल के अंत तक कंपनी छोड़ सकते हैं। कालरा ने कुछ महीने पहले अपना पद छोड़ दिया था। कंपनी के एक प्रवक्ता ने इस्तीफों की पुष्टि की है। हालांकि, माथुर ने टिप्पणी के लिए किए गए फोन कॉल का जवाब नहीं दिया।
पुरस्कार:
वाराणसी की वायु गुणवत्ता बिगड़ी, कानपुर दुनिया का सबसे प्रदूषित शहर,
• प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र वाराणसी की वायु गुणवत्ता सौंदर्यीकरण और आधारभूत संरचना के चलते बिगड़ती जा रही है। यही वजह है कि विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) की 15 सर्वाधिक प्रदूषित शहरों की सूची में इसे तीसरे स्थान पर रखा गया है। हालांकि विश्व के सबसे अधिक प्रदूषित शहर की बात करें तो कानपुर सूची में प्रथम स्थान पर है। यह दावा पर्यावरण के लिए काम करने वाली दिल्ली स्थित एक संस्था ने किया है।
• डब्ल्यूएचओ की इस सूची में राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली छठे स्थान पर है। इसके लिए वायु प्रदूषण से निपटने में नाकामी के लिए यहां के निर्वाचित जनप्रतिनिधियों के आलस को जिम्मेदार बताया गया है। पॉलिटिकल लीडर्स पोजिशन एंड एक्शन एंड एयर क्वालिटी इन इंडिया 2014-19 में यह जानकारी दी गई है। इस रिपोर्ट को 'क्लाइमेट ट्रेंड्स' ने जारी किया है। इसमें कहा गया है, विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन की 15 शहरों की सूची में 14 शहर भारत के हैं। इनमें से चार उत्तर प्रदेश में है।

• लंदन में ग्लोबल वाटर समिट में 09 अप्रैल 2019 को ग्लोबल वाटर इंटेलिजेंस ने राष्ट्रीय स्वच्छ गंगा मिशन (एनएमसीजी) को ‘पब्लिक वाटर एजेंसी ऑफ द ईयर-डिस्टिंक्शन’ से सम्मानित किया है।
ग्लोबल वाटर समिट के दौरान प्रसिद्ध ग्लोबल वाटर अवार्ड्स दिया जाता है. यह कार्यक्रम जल के क्षेत्र में दुनिया के सबसे बड़े बिजनेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में से एक है। ग्लोबल वाटर अवार्ड्स पूरे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जल उद्योग में उत्कृष्टता को पहचान देता हैं। पानी, अपशिष्ट जल प्रबंधन(वेस्ट वाटर मैनेजमेंट) और डीसेलिनेशन क्षेत्रों में उन पहलों को पुरस्कृत करते हैं, जो लोगों के जीवन में उल्लेखनीय सुधार लाते हैं।

इंडोनेशियाई नूरैनी को एशिया में 2019 का सर्वश्रेष्ठ एथलेटिक कोच नामित किया गया
• इंडोनेशियाई ऐनी नूरैनी को एशियन एथलेटिक एसोसिएशन (AAA) द्वारा 2019 में शॉर्ट-हेल रन श्रेणी के लिए एशिया में सर्वश्रेष्ठ एथलेटिक कोच के रूप में नामित किया गया था. इसकी घोषणा इंडोनेशियाई एथलेटिक स्पोर्ट्स एसोसिएशन (PB PASI) द्वारा की गई थी।
• एनी ने युवा धावक लालू मुहम्मद ज़ोहरी को 2019 ग्रां प्री मलेशिया ओपन एथलेटिक्स चैंपियनशिप में 10.20 सेकंड में 100 मीटर की दोड़ के साथ स्वर्ण पदक जीतने में सहायता की थी. इससे पहले, ज़ोहरी ने 2018 में टैम्पियर, फिनलैंड में IAAF वर्ल्ड U20 चैंपियनशिप में 10.18 में 100 मीटर दोड़कर स्वर्ण जीता था।
