President of India will visit Siachen Base Camp tomorrow
●         Indian President Shri Ram Nath Kovind will visit tomorrow (10 May 2018) Siachen Base Camp and interact with the deployed troops there.
●         The President will visit this camp for the first time after the visit of President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to this base camp in 2004.
●         The President will also visit Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Kumar Post.
 
 
Generation of Directorate General of Trade Measures (DGTR) in the Department of Commerce
●         The Government of India has amended the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, on 7th May, 2018, replacing the 'Directorate of Anti-Dumpers and Allied Duties' in the Department of Commerce by creating an 'Directorate of Business Measures' in place of the Directorate General of Trade Measures.
●         This has led to the creation of an integrated single-umbrella (umbrella) national authority, which will be known as Directorate General of Trade Measures (DGTR).
 
Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed the CXO Forum organized on 'Standardizing Digital Sector'
●         The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized the CXO Forum on "Standardizing Digital Space" on May 8, 2018 in New Delhi to consider the important issues and challenges related to the digital space (space).
●         The Forum has called on Union Law and Justice, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad and Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri C.R. In the presence of Chaudhary and CEOs / CXO of various top IT companies, explore the opportunities, developments and challenges contained in standardizing the digital sector.

Agreement between Indian Artificial Limb Production Corporation and Aravali Power Company Private Limited (APCPL), Jhajjar
●         The Indian Artificial Limb Building Corporation, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and Aravali Power Company Private Limited (APCPL) located in Jhajjar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Jhajjar in Haryana yesterday.

Atal Tinkering Marathon's Top 30 Innovations Exhibit
●         As part of efforts to identify the best inventors among the students of India, Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of the Policy Commission organized the Atal Tinkering Marathon.
●         Six-month-long nationwide challenge competition was organized in six different thematic areas such as Clean Energy, Water Resources, Waste Management, Health Services, Smart Mobility and Agriculture Technology.

Parliamentary committees can not be challenged in court: SC
●         The Constitution Bench of five judges of the Supreme Court on May 09, 2018 has said in its judgment that the report of Parliamentary committees can not be challenged nor their validity can be questioned in the courts.
●         This decision was taken by a five judge bench comprising Chief Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice AK Sikri, AM Khanvilkar, DC Chandrapur and Ashok Bhushan.
 
President Ram Nath Kovind approves minimum wage (Delhi) Amendment Bill
●         The President has approved the amendment law by Ram Nath Kovind in the minimum wage passed by the Delhi Assembly.
●         After the President's approval to the Minimum Wage (Delhi) Amendment Bill passed from the Assembly, now the lawmakers will not take the minimum wages fixed in Delhi in Delhi.
●         This bill was passed by the Delhi Assembly on August 10, 2017.
●         This bill was first introduced in 2015.

India's longest road-rail bridge in Assam
●         The construction of the longest road and rail bridge in the country connecting Dibrugarh of Assam with Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh will be completed this year.
●         This bridge is considered to be very important for sending defense equipment to the border with China.
●         Chief Engineer (Construction) of Bogibeel Project Mahendra Singh said that the construction of this bridge will be completed by July this year, 4.94 km.
 

Railway Ministry launches new Humsafar train Allahabad-Anand Vihar (Terminal)
●         Indian Railways launches new Hamsafar Train, 22437/22438 Allahabad-Anand Vihar-Terminal (three days a week)
●         Central Communications (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Railways, Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated this train service from Allahabad Station in Central Railway today.

●         The 15th Finance Commission has constituted an Advisory Council which would give advice to the Commission as well as provide necessary assistance.
●         The role of the Advisory Council and its functions are as follows:
Consulting the Commission on topics related to the consideration of the Commission (TOR) or on any issue which may be relevant.
Provide help in formulating a paper or research that will enhance the understanding of the Commission on the issues involved in its TOR.
●        Help in expanding the scope and understanding of the Commission to find out the best national and international practices on topics related to financial transactions and to improve the quality and accessibility of its recommendations and improve the implementation.


WalMart Acquires Flipkart for $ 16 Billion
●         As the biggest deal in India's e-commerce sector, American retail company Walmart has decided to buy the e-commerce company Flipkart.
●         Flipkart's investor Softbank will sell its 20 percent stake to Walmart.
●         Softbank is the biggest investor of Flipkart. The share of Softbank is 26.4 thousand crores, which was bought by Sun for 16.5 thousand crores.

●         A list of the most powerful people of the year 2018 was released by American Business Magazine Forbes.
●         In this list, Narendra Modi is among the Top-10 figures, he is ranked ninth.
●         In the list released by Forbes, Chinese President Xi Chunfing is at number one, while Russia's President Vladimir Putin is second.

India at fourth place in Asia Pacific Power Index
●         India is fourth in the Asia-Pacific region's most powerful countries.
●         Australia's Think Tank Lobby Institute, Asia Power Index, has been assessed in 25 countries of Asia-Pacific, in which India is at fourth place.
●         Russia, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Philippines and North Korea are given the status of moderate power in the report.

UBER signed a deal with NASA to develop a flying taxi
●         Taxi Service Provider Company Uber has entered into an agreement with NASA, the US headspace organization to explore the evolution of flying taxis.
●         After the agreement, NASA issued a statement saying that he will start testing the formats of capable vehicles capable of flying in the air.
●         These vehicles will also include delivery drones.
 
US announces separation from Iran nuclear deal
 
●         US President Donald Trump announced the separation of the US from May 8, 2018 with the historic nuclear deal with Iran.
●         Donald Trump has criticized this deal over Barack Obama several times before.
●         After assuming the presidency, the decision about national security in the last 15 months was considered to be the most important decision.

●         The ninth phase of the city gas distribution program was started by the Central Government on 08 May 2018.
●         Gas distribution program will be started in 86 geographical areas by the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan.
●         In the ninth phase, city-network will be started in 86 geographical areas.
